All hell has officially broken loose. Pat Bowlen has officially released a statement saying that he will comply with Jay Cutler’s trade requets. The AP article states,

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen released a statement saying both he and McDaniels had been unable to get Cutler to call them back over the last 10 days. Bowlen said he spoke with Cutler’s agent, Bus Cook, on Tuesday and came away convinced “that Jay no longer has any desire to play for the Denver Broncos.”

It’s a sad day indeed. Hopefully this is all just a bad April Fools joke. Where will Cutler land? Who will take over the reigns?

  • Dave

At this point- good riddance. Moving on.

  • Pete

Quinn and their 1st round pick.
Quinn is familiar with the offense McDaniels runs. For heavens sake, he flourished under Weiss, and Weiss pretty much trained McDaniels.
Cutler is shoing his (im)maturity, I say good riddance. It’s too early to tell if Cutler will be great or just a talented QB who can’t win games, so I’m not gonna cry too much.

    Fire McDaniels QUICK

  • Anthony

What a fucking disaster, send him to Detroit to suffer. Fuckin prick he is.

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

http://www.denverbroncos.com/page.php?id=134 they took jay off the depth chart!

  • Ryan M.

we need to make very high demands for Jay. I guarentee a lot of desperate teams would be willing to give up a lot for him. I say we ask for Quin, Rogers, and a 4th rounder, or rounds 1, 2, and 3 from Detroit. I bet someone will be willing to give it up…look what minnisota did for Jared Allen.

  • inrodwetrust

I hope he gets traded to the bears so Brian Dawkins and Champ can take turns picking him off in the end zone this pre-season. Its good for Cutler too, now he wont have to face the wrath of Phillip Rivers taunts twice a year.

  • http://broncotalk.net RVG10

    WhidbeyBronco-
He’s still on the depth chart, look at the bottom: 2nd team Holder! haha

  • Anthony

What a joke i can’t believe this is actually happening. mcDaniels absolutely created this problem, but Jay who the hell do you think you are is my question like come on man grow up fuck. This is a disaster either send him to Detroit with Scheffler for the 20th pick, 33rd pick and at least a second rounder next year or a first rounder if possible. If not send him to Cleveland for Brady Quinn, Shaun Rogers and their 5th overall pick. take Orakpo with that pick and Maualuga at 12 and I think we’ll be alright.

  • Shawn

I am not angry, not sad, and not surprised. I am simply tired. Tired of waiting for this to end. With the end game in sight I just want to get the most for Jay that we can and wish him good luck. I am a Broncos fan and as long as Mr. Bowlen does not trade the Broncos away to another city I will still be a fan. I am a little nervous about this upcoming season, but buckle up, here we go!!

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

Here’s a couple great posts that don’t include the cussing and teeth grating that I can’t seem to disinclude in my own posts
    !#$%%$!!#$%%$#@

    Yallas:
Bowlen interviews all the candidates and chooses McDaniels and says he has some Hawaiian word for wisdom and he hires him. The idiot coach nearly spends all the cap room on a backup QB that he is comfortable with instead of addressing that 14 million dollars on defense. The trade blows up and he still says no one is untouchable. You don’t treat a franchise QB that way. Cutler might need to grow up a bit. But one thing McDaniels doesn’t have is wisdom. I DON”T BLAME CUTLER a bit if this is a business like everyone keeps saying…I see…it’s ok to trade a player at your convenience but the player has no right to respond and ask for his own trade? Go Cutler…hope you make it to a team that can win a Super Bowl…I wish you the best!!!!!!!

    Broncorob:
I still blame McDaniels for all this. This is a disaster for the Broncos and their fans. We finally get our next great QB and McDaniels pisses him off so much that he can’t overcome his dislike for McDaniels and forces a trade. What really makes me mad is that McDaniels had to tell Bowlen when he was interviewed is he would look forward to working with Cutler and then once he is hired he tries to get Cassell. Cutler should have been able to forgive and forget but he couldn’t.

    Where’s Shanny now Pat?

    …weakly …go broncos

  • fischdog

    The Day the Broncos Died.

  • http://broncotalk.net RVG10

    Anthony-
No no no, if we have #5 and #12 we grab Raji and Tyson Jackson. Orakpo is fine, but no way Maualuga that high… or at all!

  • Bleading O&B

I say good riddance… anyone who acts like this big of a baby lacks leadership, a key ingredient for success… Yeah a team will give up a lot to get Cutler Denver will be fine without him… Cutler was a product of the system… Jake Plummer had more success than Cutler

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

    RVG10
    Now that’s funny!
    Good eye!
Nice vindictive move Broncos! Bad Choice Jay! Really Bad Choices Pat!

  • ryan

I can’t think of a parallel in the history of the NFL of team trading their Pro Bowl 25 year old QB. No matter who you blame this is sickening for us fans. Quinn and a bunch of picks are our best bet.

  • Anthony33

Plenty of blame to go around here. Perhaps someday we’ll know the complete truth as to how this fell apart before it even got started. McDaniels displayed complete stupidity for 1) not letting Cutler know up front what was happening and 2) (IF) he then lied to him about it.

Cutler has wanted out since Bates was let go. He has proven to be gutless and childish. He may have an arm, but the leadership qualities are very questionable. He is the ‘punk’ so many others have described.

Good riddance Cutler, we’ll see how you do without Shanny’s system.

And McDaniels, you best start realizing this team belongs to the fans. This operating under a cloak is BS, that crap may fly in NE, but not here, not now, not ever. You have one year, that’s it, and you just lost your pro bowl QB. Tick tick tick.

  • J

Send the cry baby to the Browns so he can feel the Steelers D twice a year. We are gonna be fine with Quin who almost beat Cry baby Cutler if it wasn’t for the crapy D the Browns have.

  • http://merlinofchaos.livejournal.com E. Halsey Miles

I am sick. As a fan, this is a terrible thing. I don’t really know who to blame. Maybe all of ’em. Every single one of ’em. I can’t help but think that if any one of them had really wanted to fix this, they could have. Bowlen, Cutler, Cook and McDaniels, I think they all had the opportunity to fix this. Bowlen acted too late, McDaniels refused to admit he screwed up, Cutler refused to cope with a hard situation and play for a big contract this year, and Cook refused to overlook an opportunity to go for a gigantic contract once he saw trouble.

This makes me ill. I don’t give a crap what you say about Cutler, I think he is up there with Brady and Manning and in a couple of years, Broncos fans will look longingly at whatever team Cutler is winning with. (Or, like Palmer, whatever sorry team is dragging him down).

  • JRODZ

The only way McDumbass & Xanders could screw the pooch any worse is to f-up the trade! They’re already 0-1 in that department. Horrible free agency pick-ups and now everyone’s getting what they wanted – Bowlen has a coach not in control, McD gets to circle-jerk over his new QB project, and Cutler gets to leave a sinking ship. Glad my season’s off to such a great start.

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

    E. Halsey Miles
    great post!!

    I’m so sick.

  • Andy

Wow, I’m speechless… I would have told someone they were absolutely crazy if they said this would happen 6 months ago.

  • J

Hey Miles you might be right but… A player that does NOT give a poop about the team and does NOT want to wear the jersey of that team, does NOT deserve the love and respect of the fans. He and his agent made their choice only time will tell who was right and who was wrong. Let all of us wish him good luck and lets move on.

  • Truman

What a disaster. What an arrogant coach, what a baby of a QB. This is so frustrating. I’m pissed at all of em.

I’ve been a fan since Elway but my allegiance is officially on the market.

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

    JRODZ!!
Thanks for offering a worse scenario than this already worse one imaginable!!
    OUCH!! Totally possible!

  • jcampb72

We gotta ask for at least 2 1st’s or a good player and a 1st and 2nd. Of the teams that want him I know it could be the jets, not sure about cleveland, anyone in the NFC north besides the Pack…who else?

  • broncosfan4life

This is like a bad dream no matter who you blame.Yeah, McD f*cked up, but Cutler really took it to an absurd level. What kind of team leader are you going to be if you ignore your coach and owner’s calls? He’s screwing us AND himself. Enjoy Cleveland.

  • slkdjfod

    This is horrible. Horrible.

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

    jcampb72
    Romo …for Shanny next year.

  • broncoNM

let the bidding begin… Im tired of this and want to move on. Get the best QB possible asap and have him start learning this system. We are all going to hear a hundred different trade scenario’s over the next 48 hrs… I just hope a team breaks the bank for Jay and we get something out of this mess.

  • walton

Sweet lets get Raji and Jackson in the first Laurinaitis in the second. That way we have a rookie front line/lb’s, old DB’s, 4 third string RB’s, an uproven head coach, Top WR suspended, a bad denfensive coach who wears nice suits, and a QB who has no spleen. Hey but at least he hasn’t thrown a pass in two years, so he should be well rested. This team and owner is one white jump suit from being the Raiders. Just as I said in my other post. 4 years from now this team is going to be in LA and Bowlen will end up selling the team to Elway. I’ve already been kicked in the balls might as well step on them.

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

    Walton
    I feel your pain!

  • JRODZ

WhidbeyBronco – I really am holding onto a small glimmer of hope that nobody actually “Wins” this thing. Time to move on. This sucks on so many levels.

  • buckeyebronc

Great my son is due to be born tomorrow. So what do I do with the Cutler onesie i bought for him the day I found out I was going to be a father for the first time? Hey Mr. Bowlen, I want my money back! And don’t send me a Champ jersey or expect me to buy another one. Everyone’s is tradeable, how about our owner? How bout we trade him for the GM in San Diego. The guys a prick but at least he doesn’t get rid of the franchise player.

  • kerry

god i hate Bowlen! and McDaniels. the best young QB in the NFL and he is gone. well go fuck yourself Bowlen and McDaniels. you just set this team back 5 years. thanks Bowlen. you just HAD TO HAVE your Mike Shanahan JR. and now look at what he did! sad sad day in Broncoland. good luck getting the stadium to fill Bowlen. maybe when it hits your wallet you will see what a big mistake you made in hiring this idiot.

  • Andpark

Let’s keep our cool and see what happens. Jay is worth a hell of a lot so I am confident if we do end up trading him we will get a ton. McD/Xman/Bowlin aren’t complete idiots and we are just seeing what offers are out there, Jay stays if we don’t get an amazing offer.

Happens tomorrow if at all .

I hope Jay stays and wins.

  • Boisebroncoguy

I’m just flat out pissed. Pissed at McD for starting it and pissed at Jay for not trying to work it out. We finally get another stud QB and the new coach messes it up. I know one thing, I am through spending money on jerseys of my favorite players. After I got burned by getting a Portis jersey, I held off until I was brave enough to get a Cutler jersey. So much for that………………….

  • Dakota Fan

We can’t say we didn’t see this one coming, can we?

Are we seeing an unwanted change in the game we love so much? Will all of the pouting star players get what they want?

I’d like to say I wish Cutler well, but for me, he now ranks up there with Al Davis in the villain category. Screw him, Bus Cook and his fat contract. Take your idiot haircut and your king-sized pouty bottom lip and go to hell.

And to those of you who think this is the mistake of the century to trade him- I really do respect your opinion, but how could we keep the guy and get any decent production out of him with his attitude? Love his physical gifts, but too much baggage.

Let the (unnamed future Broncos’ QB name) era begin.

  • robtink242

i think when McDumbass told Cutler everyones tradeable at the face to face meeting oh and also not mentioning he’s the QB of this team. None of you guys would work to a place where your not wanted. OH yeah especially if you were the manage or thought you had some importance. Yes we love football but he’s a man to. and for you mega millionaire boss to send you a TEXT message i’m sorry. Man i sure you guys would do something special if it where a situation with you girl friend or wife.

  • http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3983805 WhidbeyBronco

    $^$#@#$%$#@#$%%$#@#$%%$#@#$%
JRODZ ok let’s hope they can’t get fair value for Jay
AND they don’t settle for less.
They could then offer Jay a contract and the chance to play or sit.

  • Mike

Cutler quit on his teamates, clear and simple. Bowlen deserves what he gets, an arrogant little p**ck running his organization into the ground. At least we still have a stellar defense… oh, never mind.

  • DepressedSF

    Enjoy Detroit bitch.

And try and get that sand out of your vagina.

  • Anthony33

Trying to get myself excited about the trade possibilites then came to the stark realization that Bowlen and McD will screw that up too. This whole mess starts with Bowlen. We’ve gone from one of the most respected franchises is all of pro sports to a complete laughing stock in what, three months?

How in the hell is that even possible?

They are not capable of pulling off a good trade because no one left in the organinzation knows shit about running a football team. Bowlen is a drunk and has said he dosen’t know shit about football, McDaniels is a fricking 32 year old rookie head coach (at any level I might add) and Xander’s, I don’t know, you tell me.

Seriously, the best thing they could do at this point is fire McDaniels and bring in Cowher, Parcells or yes, even Shanny to put this mess back together.

How do you think Dawkins feels now about signing with us????

  • kerry

they better get a deal done quick. get our new QB in there to start learning the new system. dont draft Stafford or Filthy Sanchez. get Quinn and a whole bunch of draft picks. fuck it. Quinn has starting experience, he knows the system that McDaniels uses . Quinn played under Charlie Weiss at Notre Dame. get quinn and some picks and get him on there to learn the playbook. dont waste time McFuckwad.

  • JRODZ

WhidbeyBronco – I like what you’re saying, but if they were going to play managerial hardball, I think they would have done it already. I think the best clue as to what was driving this was the McD TV interview when pressed on Jay – What we saw is what Jay saw. Something bad went down in those meetings. I’m guessing we might never know what. They can’t settle, but I have a hard time seeing him come back now. Like I said. They REALLY screwed the pooch!

  • http://www.cubf.com Cheer Up Broncos Fans

i heard from an unnamed source that ELWAY is coming out of retirement!

  • roshon2411

Mike, your right Cutler did quit on his teammates. Last weeks game, i saw him take a couple plays off. And during the pro bowl, i swear he didn’t take his insulin on purpose to piss the coaches off. Give me a break, Cutler had been a great teammate until McDeeznuts had a power trip. Where ever Cutler goes(Detroit, Tampa, New York)I guarentee they win more games then this Bronco team. Unless Jim Caldwell drinks the same kool-aid Mc-I’ll be-out-of-job-in-two-years, and trades Peyton to Denver.

  • Bobby

Scew that whiny little girl. I hope he goes 0-16 for the rest of his career.

  • jcampb72

Kerry couldn’t have said it better. Im totally depressed.
