Jay Cutler and Eddie Royal Chargers post game

Jay Cutler and Eddie Royal Chargers post game

At least that’s what Mike Klis says.  Hopefully it’s the beginning of the end in the Cutler/McDaniels soap opera.  Klis has stated in the Denver Post that the frenzy regarding Jay Cutler’s home sale is much to do about nothing.  Similar reports say that Cutler has been planning on selling the 7500sq ft home for the six months and will make his downtown Denver penthouse the main residence.  Klis’ source close to Jay is saying that “he will more than likely attend” McDaniel’s first team meeting this coming Monday.  Here’s to the drama ending so we can continue on with offseason as it should be.

  • NathanH

I hope this whole BS sparks a fire under Jay, and the whole teams’ ass this season. It will undoubtedly linger throughout the beggining of the year. If we win, it goes away, if we lose, the media will attack it. I really hope Jay gets his **** together and Dawkins barks at our mediocre fill ins to step up their games. If so we should improve off last years record and be in contention for the division again.

  • Sam laurabee

    thank god!

  • Josh

I’m afraid Klis may be misinformed. According to the latest from Profootballtalk.com, Cutler’s parents put their house on the market, too. I’m pissed about wasting $80 on a Cutler jersey, but this thing does not look like it is going to end well. Check the clip here: http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/03/14/stakes-get-higher-in-cutler-broncos-feud/

Josh McDaniels is a complete moron and I cannot believe that Pat Bowlen was stupid enough to get rid of Shanahan. I will always bleed blue and orange, but I am ashamed of the back stabbing going on with my team right now. Regardless of how anyone feels about Cutler, there is such a thing called LOYALTY! Looks like Bowlen and McDaniels have completely have no clue about what that means. Thanks for giving me NOTHING to feel good about next season Bowlen!

    Josh-

Holy freakin crap. Profootballtalk.com is one of the websites that started the mess. Just give it a rest for another day. A little more that 36 hours and you’ll know what’s going on for real.

  • Broncoholic

I hope so NathanH. I think that we are definitely headed in the right direction, but with this much transition combined with a very tough schedule (way too tough for an 8-8 team), I think we’ll be lucky to match our record last year. Although, the Dolphins, Falcons, and Ravens showed that teams can bounce back in 1 year so I’m praying for that kind of turn-around, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we showed some rebuilding pains this year.

Seems like we always get screwed with tough schedules every year as well. I was under the impression that the better a team does the harder their schedule for next year was & vise versa. How then did the AFC West (arguably the worst, or at best the 2nd worst division the league) draw the AFC North and the NFC East in ’09? Then they give us the Colts and the Pats on top of that? You’d think we made it to the AFC Championship Game last year with that tough a schedule.

I have been a fan since birth, making trips to Greeley for camp from Texas, caught many live games, and an office full of memorabilia; spending money I really couldn’t afford to spend at the time to support the team I love so dearly. While times are tough, it won’t be the economy that dictates whether I will operate as I have in the past, it will be whether Cutler remains. As I have heard so many times…Good quarterbacks make good coaches. That couldn’t be so true. I am sure that McDaniel’s mentor will tell you that as well. Take Belichek’s stay in Cleveland for instance. Anyone remember who his quarterback was?…That’s what I thought. Genius? Another offensive coordinator poised to be the next big thing, Mangenius, single handedly was responsible for shipping Pennington out of town. Look where that got him…McFired. McDaniels it can take decades to find a franchise quarterback. Learn where your bread is buttered. Out was Leach, and possibly Sheffler and Cutler? Mr. Bowlen, you have been a fine owner, well respected no doubt. It was durring your Shannahan press conference you emphatically said, “this is my team.” Well sir, it is time for you to regain control…again. Maintain Cutler or my lifelong allegience will come to a sour end as will many more I am sure.

  • Broncoholic

The Broncos want Cutler. If he gets traded it will be because Cutler no longer wants to be a Bronco. I love Cutler and desperately want him to stay (I also think he will stay) but if he doesn’t want to be a Bronco then sayonara Jay. I will be a Bronco fan until the day I die, regardless of who our signal caller is.

  • Josh

    T-Money-
Hey, I understand that a lot of media are spreading a lot of half-truths; nevertheless, the bottom line with this story is that Cutler has never come out and killed the story. If he really cared about he team or really, truly cared about the untruths being written in the media, he would call an immediate press conference and state his case. He hasn’t done that, and if you believe the reports, he won’t even talk to Bowlen. And now his home and his parents’ home are on the market??? If Cutler is staying in Denver, he’s rubbing me in a seriously wrong way for letting this play on and for letting this fester into something that will undoubtedly affect the team. This is all on Cutler. He needs to kill the story or be traded for someone who at least gives a damn about the Denver Broncos and their fans.

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. And I’m just a fan.

We’ll know for sure tomorrow, but I’m on cloud nine right now. Please please please….

  • http://www.google.com T-Money

Hate to be a buzz kill kyle, but tomorrow is Sunday, unless you are thinking about doing a stake out at DIA for him, then… You’ve got two days.

    Josh-

If he called for a press conference then he would only get bombarded with McJayGate questions. He would also go against the rules of keeping quite, the rules giving during the phone call. All this is media driven, and frankly they are driving us off a cliff.

  • Nicole

Finally, there shall be peace! Everyone has come around and they’re ready to go. From the great state of Texas I wish you luck and by the way… ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS MY DEAR, THE FACT THAT HE HASN’T SAID ANYTHING IS GREAT. HE DOESN’T SHOW YOU HE CARES BY TALKING-ONLY BY WINNING! FORGET ABOUT THE WORDS AND BE THANKFUL THAT HE’S COMING AND THROW BABY THROW!

  • Jaiu

    @Broncoholic

i feel the same way. When i caught wind of Cutler in his senior year, i really wanted to see the guy succeed over Leinart & Young, regardless of what team drafted him (excluding the other AFC West teams and a select few). When the Broncos drafted him i never thought my excitement for the franchise could get any bigger. i have this gut/sinking feeling that there will be a draft day trade. i’ll always support my favorite sports team, but [if that happens] i’d still like to see #6 do well (not against the Broncos, of course) – the guy’s an asset to the league talent-wise.

My take on the situation is that Cutler is uber loyal to the teams he’s played for and got a boo-boo on his feelers when he heard about the trade negotiations. Take yer balls outta yer purse, Jay and play some football…hopefully for the Broncos.

  • Josh

Really, T-Money? Am I still wrong? From the Denver Post:

    http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_11915697

  • http://broncotalk.net Joe

As far as this shit I keep hearing about Cutler’s parents putting up their home for sale, has it ever occured to people that just by showing up for these workouts, Jay is getting $100 thousand more?? So what could this possibly mean? Well hell, lets connect the dots, shall we? They live in a home worth a little less than $900 thousand. Jay is selling one of his homes for two million, since he already has another home and does not need a house that big for a single man. And this is Jay’s parents we are talking about. So maybe, just maybe, Jay might be helping his parents out finacially now? Maybe gonna buy them a bigger house, or a different type of one that they want? Hell, he is a MILLIONAIRE. He has millions now, he is getting thousands more for voluntary workout, he is selling one of his homes for two million, maybe he is gonna take care of his parents for once?? If my kid ever plays professional football, I would hope/want him to buy me a million dollar house to.

  • jcampb72

Some how I feel dumber now

  • Nicole

Oh God no! Please don’t do it Jay and Josh! I really don’t want him to leave Denver. Pat Bowlen needs to do something!

  • http://birty.blogspot.com mikebirty

Surely everyone should be more worried if I don’t show up for work on Monday. Where’s the Post article on that?

  • jcampb72

He’s the best thing to happen to denver since john elway straight up. If he leaves I leave w him!

  • http://www.google.com T-Money

Yes Josh I still think you are wrong. If you read it correctly it says (in the full article) that Cutler didn’t want to create a situation where it would take away from the Trainers cook out. In my opinion he is playing his cards right.

    Right now anyway.

Uck that Aggot McDaniels aleady. BRING BACK SHANNY

  • Anthony33

The arttcle by Klis this morning offers what sounds like the most logical explanation of what happen with tradegate. It comes from an undislosed source in NE and makes the most sense of anything I have heard to date. If it is true, McD is off the hook and Cutler has no reason to mistrust his head coach. It it is true, this will all be over a week from now (or sonner) and we can get 100% back to the draft.

I would have attached the link, but don’t know how to do that. There is light at the end of the tunnel in all this.

Cutler met with McDaniels saturday morning and the meeting didnt go well at all. that has NOTHING to do with cutler attending the party for antonopolus. they had a bad face to face meeting so the chances of Jay showing up Monday looks a bit slimmer.

For those of you bashing Cutler you should really try to understand where he is coming from. While Shannahan no doubt had his faults he was always respected for his straightfowardness with players. No matter whether the news was good or bad, he told it to you straight. I think Jay wants Josh to tell him the truth and he is trying to sugarcoat this whole thing. Bowlen isn’t willing to step in and shed any truth on the situation and I think Jay feels like he can’t work in this environment. I for one can’t blame him and if he feels this new regime is shady and wants no part of it then so be it. Will I no longer be a Bronco fan if Cut leaves? I believe no matter how hard I tried that would be impossible as I suspect it would be hard for any of us to simply quit following something we’ve loved for years. Would I watch Cutler closely and cheer for him? Absolutely I would.

The bottom line is we can debate this thing forever but fortunately for us it will be played soon, at least by draft day and if Cutler is gone we can take sides then. My wish is for Jay to play his whole career here and watch him and guys like Eddy collect a couple rings together. Today is my birthday so hopefully my wish grants some sort of priority over this matter but that BS. I guess I settle for hope.

    sorry for the double post….

Jay Cutler is still upset? OMG really?
Jay wants McD to get on his knees and ask for forgiveness orally on his ****.

Jay Cutler has made himself bigger than the Denver Broncos and I hate him for that. No one in the real world , working a real job does what he does, why is he different? because he can throw a football? Its unbelievable a guy making millions can be “hurt”

It really is disgusting, if he is so hurt why doesn’t he refuse taking the money Bowlen is giving him.

I hate this story, I hate this drama , I think it is only increasing because of his Jay and his agent.

So now you put you’re parents house on sale … well at still you’re consistent with the bitch moves you’ve made this offseason.

  • BroncoinVA9986

if Jay Cutler said that he plays for his teammates…..than he will show up monday……He has been an a*s this offseason….and so has Mcdaniels…..you know what thought if we had SPAGs maybe Jeremy bates would be our OC andwe would have great defensive aquisitions…..Just a dream….(GO CLEMSON TIGERS)

So much anger. Over something so insignificant to your own personal life.

  • http://broncotalk.net Joe

Even if he does not show up tomorrow, what the hell are the odds that we trade him? Lets think about this. Why did Shannahan get fired? Because we didnt go to the playoffs for three consecutive years. Once again, stop and think…Do you really think that we would fire Shannahan for another coach, in an effort to make playoffs again, than start the number two offense over with a whole new QB? Doubtful. What would we get for Jay that would be better than his services as QB for this team? We could get the Lion’s two first round picks, and what? Draft a QB and have to START ALL OVER AGAIN?? I think not. Bowlen did not fire Shannahan to hire a coach, to destroy our number two offense, and start over with a new QB. Bowlen wants to win, and he knows that Jay is his way in order to do so. I really dont think that he would allow McDaniels to trade away his PRO BOWL, 25 year-old, QB, and start over. This would mean that Denver goes from a 8-8 team, to a 4-12 team, if were lucky. Bowlen doesn’t want to decrease the winning column. He wants to make it to the playoffs, championship game, than eventually the SuperBowl again. If we draft a QB with Detroit’s number one pick, we will make the playoffs…..in about three more years. So I don’t see this happening. McDaniels and Jay can bitch at eachother all they want, but he will not go anywhere. And if we dont trade with Detroit, who the hell would we trade with than? We would not trade for an unproven Brady Quinn who it took years before his ass could even start over Anderson, the one season wonder. Tampa? What the f*** would we get outta them?? And we all know that the warrior in Simms can’t be our answer. The man has only thrown 5 balls since starting for the Bucs…..years ago. This will all get settled out, even if it means giving Jay promising money to cool all this down. Once this gets all settled out, and Jay buys into McD’s system, this team will dominate. It could be a serious, serious threat this season. We could own our division, without a doubt. This will all blow over, it’s not an option. Bowlen wants to win, and he wants to win now. Get it?

  • http://broncotalk.net Joe

And if I ever seen Vic Lombardi, I am going to go up to him and kick him strait in the ass and call him some names. He is an idiot who is trying to stir stuff up even more. His article of “I have learned that Jay will not attend the meeting on Monday” is a joke. No sources. I should write in article saying that ” I have learned that Vic is an idiot” I bet I would have a better article, more readers, and I would be my own source. Between him and all of espn, and Florio of PFT, I bet their “source” is Mickey Mouse’s friend’s uncle’s kid, who is probably twelve. They ask him what is going to happen, and than they report it. They are a bunch of jokes.

Ladies and Gentleman, say hello to the Jeff Garcia/Chris Simms era! I will now go peel the skin off my body…

  • Anthony33

What I read into this is that it’s all about a contract extension. All this frickin’ BS and it’s about more money. Nothing more, nothing less. Bus Cook is the one that needs to kicked in the balls, and Cutler does does not have the balls to meet with McD alone.
