You could say the Denver Broncos‘ offensive line has kept their quarterback in style this season. Jay Cutler is merely returning the favor.
Cutler treated all five of his starting offensive linemen this week, along with blocking tight end Daniel Graham and short-yardage blocker/backup center Kory Lichtensteiger, to new tailored suits. Assuming the tailor doesn’t run out of fabric, these seven Broncos will be dressed to kill for the holidays.
Not that they haven’t been dressed to kill on the football field all season long already. The third year quarterback has only been sacked eight times in 501 pass attempts, a percentage that leads the NFL and projects to be the second best in NFL history. Led by first-year starters Ryan Clady and Ryan Harris at tackle, the Broncos’ o-line has dominated every opponent it’s faced. What’s more, Football Outsiders ranks the Broncos offensive line first in run blocking as well.
The icing on the cake is that the core of this group consists of young players who will be around a long time. In the years to come, Cutler will have to start getting creative to find presents worthy of the efforts his o-line gives him. I’d say he did a fine job this year.
