Josh Shaw Suspended for Hitting Teammate

Josh ShawThe Denver Broncos had announced on Friday that DT Josh Shaw was suspended for one game by the Broncos for “conduct detrimental to the team.”  That sounds about right.

Jay Glazer of FoxSports.com has the scoop that Shaw was suspended for hitting fellow DT Kenny Peterson after some escalated locker room taunting.  Peterson was not listed on Friday’s injury report.

Apparently Mike Shanahan wanted to suspend Shaw for four games but feared a reaction from the NFL Player’s Association.  Shaw had missed the previous three games with a calf injury.

Hitting a teammate always crosses the line.  Shaw is lucky he isn’t released outright.  Stay tuned…

    I agree Matt. Of course, this is unconfirmed and all, but if that’s the case, Shaw would have to do some serious apology work to get this straightened out. Can’t have the new guy coming in throwing punches.

    Guys, I’m not agreeing or disagreeing, just interested to know your opinion, but if it had been Brandon Marshall or Ryan Clady punching someone would you have been saying cut him?

    Should the Panthers have cut Steve Smith?

    Thats true Dave, people wouldn’t be saying to cut them. But what has Shaw contributed to the team except for locker romm fodder? Nothing. Not one tackle. Not one assist. Nothing.

    I am all for not jumping to conclusions, but I am also for productivity when we are paying these guys a huge amount of money.

    He was on our team because big dude’s got upside! However, Im afraid his career is now on the downside. and for good! I’d look for Denver to pick up a new DT real soon…

    Besides, we need a bigger DT/NT anyway if Shanny is really serious about moving more consistently into a pure 3-4 D-Scheme…

    Wouldnt we kill for Gerard Warren right now? Allowing Bates to export Warren to the Raiders, then convincing Shanny that Jarvis Moss was the next Jason Taylor should live forever in Bronco Folklore as singluarly, the most “INSANE” set of transactions ever executed in Denver.

    HogBlog- Are we really going to blame those things on Bates? NOTHING happens in Denver without Shanny’s approval/wish. Regardless, he would be nice to have back and that speaks volumes of how bad our D Line is. He was a Cleveland washout and he has done little for Oaktown.
