Brandon Marshall

Adam Schefter of the NFL Network reports that Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall will be suspended for three games for violation of the Personal Conduct Policy. According to Schefter, Marshall will be able to reduce the suspension from three games to two if he agrees to undergo counseling.

There’s little chance that Marshall refuses the counseling, so expect him to miss the first two weeks of the 2008 season.

Although a two-game suspension is a relatively small penalty (the earlier rumors of a 4-8 game suspension had most fans shaking in their boots), it will still have plenty of impact on the team’s division record. The Broncos will travel to face the Oakland Raiders in Week One, then return to Denver for their home opener against the San Diego Chargers in Week Two.

It’s not something I’m happy about, but it’s something I can live with. I don’t agree with it, but I’ll take it. It’s important to note that this isn’t confirmed yet, but Schefter’s as consistent as they come. Do you agree with the decision?

Do you agree with Marshall's 2-3 game suspension?

maybe its just because its monday morning but i looked at my rss feed and thought ‘how does a tight end know anything about marshall’s suspension?’

If Marshall is guilty of some of the stuff he is said to have done then two to four games seems right – maybe more. But until he’s found guilty in court surely he doesn’t deserve a ban

Hopefully Marshal learns something here. Him being absent in the important division game with the Chargers is a bit letdown to his teammates. Missing that SD game is like missing 4 games, thats how important it is. At least its in Denver and if we can beat SD without our #1 WR threat than that will tell us a lot about where the 08 Broncos are headed.

I guess he should have ran his ex-girlfriend over with his car and then not turn himself in until a week later..Apparently, thats acceptible under the NFL conduct policy. Or, at least it was for Marshawn Lynch.

I agree with Mike and JP up top but if this is the only suspension he receives regardless of the outcome later than I’m ok with it. It actually could lighten the load for Marshall in the long run.

But it’s going to piss me off if Goodell suspends him for two games with no verdicts then turn around and suspend him again later when more comes out.

I think the thing to remember here is that the NFL conduct policy has less to do with convictions and more to do with image.

The NFL doesn’t want it’s employees running around getting arrested, causing domestic disturbances and generally acting a fool. If you are an NFL employee and you signed an agreement as such, then you need to abide by these rules or face penalties.

Marshall has not made decisions that kept him out of trouble. I’m not saying he CAUSED the trouble, but he didn’t do himself any favors by staying in bad situations which put him at risk. People that put themselves at risk often find themselves in trouble (ask Marcus Thomas).

I HATE losing Marshall for two games, but I think the Commish is trying to cut down on this type of bad press and Marshall is a great example of a kid that needs to learn (and hopefull HAS learned) the lesson about staying out to high risk situations.

To be honest… Besides the obvious that he’s our best receiver… But i really don’t think that we as a team CAN’T replace him for 2 weeks. We can just keep throwing receivers at the opposition and that should in theory be just as good as marshal. Do you really think that DB’s are going to study all 5 of our receivers and our tightends.

For Marshall’s sake, I’m glad for the suspension. He’s in a a bad place and hopefully this will help him recover from the DW incident. We’re going to need him firing on all cylinders this year.

The truth of the matter is the incidetns happened but I think you also have to take a look at the fact that he has not been found guilty of anything yet. But at the same time A 2 game susepension early in the season is ok. Rather than in the middle or end of the season when they will be tryin to lock down a playoff spot… Its hard to swallow but overall a firm decion that I think is a good representation of where the league draws its line.

Good point GOBRONCOS313- “if we can beat SD without our #1 WR threat than that will tell us a lot about where the 08 Broncos are headed.” The first two games of the season are going to be interesting!
Come on BMarsh- PLEASE grow up now and just play some good ball. You’re a gifted receiver, don’t throw it away with off the field issues!

To put an end to this circus, they should take his 2weeks worth of checks, and ‘donate’ them to his ex, in a deal to shut her down.
Then maybe we can get back to talking football….

    …and Favre.
