ProFootballTalk turned us onto this little tidbit – ESPN has yet to reveal (or decide) the announcing crew for the 2nd Monday Night game on September 8, between the Raiders and Broncos. Last year, three Mikes called the second game, and the one who doesn’t host an insanely popular morning radio talk show was caught adjusting his, well, self.

In other words, expect Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg to be joined by someone else for the Broncos game – personally, I couldn’t be more thrilled that Kornheiser will be nowhere near the booth.

Not a PTI fan Kyle? You’re supposed to just except the fact that the sport media world revolves around the east coast.

PTI’s fine, I’m neutral either way, but he drives me nuts in the game booth.

I think a lot of the problem is that whoever produces MNF tries to make someone play the wacky dumbed down guy. I remember reading an article about Dennis Miller when they decided to bring him in the booth, they had said in the interview process that he was shockingly knowledgeable on the game, more than some of their commentators. Going into detail about how closely he follows the game and his knowledge of NFL history. After reading it, I was excited to see him work the booth, then the first few games go bye and he’s playing the idiot much like Kornheiser now. Rather than let him have something insightful to say, he kept asking Al Michael dumb football questions. Stuff like what’s a touchback? and why do they call it that?
