[Javon Walker]

The future of Javon Walker in Denver could be settled tonight. Walker’s representatives are to meet with the Broncos’ front office over dinner on the future of Javon in Denver or elsewhere.

“The goal is to see what we need to do to bring an end to the situation,” agent Kennard McGuire said today during a break in meetings involving the players association. …

Asked about his gut feeling on his client’s future, McGuire responded, “I’ll know after dinner.”

To bring an end to the situation, he says. Does Mr. McGuire mean an end to Walker’s short career as a Bronco, or an end to the whole mess that started the moment Javon opened his mouth on January 1st?

Meanwhile, the same Bucs reporter that broke the news on Tampa’s interest in Javon is now backing off a bit, saying the deal probably won’t happen.

What do you make of the situation? Is this a last ditch attempt by the Broncos to bury the hatchet? Are they trying to talk about a restructure to help Javon stay, or perhaps even to accelerate a trade? Or is this “so long, goodbye, nice to know you?” I’m interested to hear the readers’ thoughts.

The only way Walker stays is if he restrutures. Keeping him any other way sends the wrong message to the other players

If he restructures he’d be easier to trade too so he might be willing to do it

Javon seems like a Casa Bonita type guy, talk offense over plunging cliff divers

I find this awesome timing, given what I wrote yesterday. I still stand by my opinion that releasing him would be wrong. Trading him probably would be wrong; it’d depend on what we got for him, but I don’t see us getting a player of Walker’s quality in return, and if we trade him for anything less than a 2nd round draft pick, then we’ve thrown away the one we traded FOR him 2 years ago.

The ‘sends a wrong message to the other players’ strikes me as kind of odd. What wrong message is that? That it’s too bad D-will died in his lap but sayonara anyway? The whole ‘prima donna’ rap he’s getting is a touch overblown. I watched the interviews and yea, he’s definitely got a bit of “me me” going, but I think the entire Denver fanbase has turned on him awfully fast.

He should be embarrassed by himself. That speech was one of the craziest things I’ve ever heard considering the circumstances. The guy gets hurt, misses half the season, probably came back too early and is pretty much ineffective. The season was a wash as soon as you got hurt. Someone had to step up. Do you think we’re going to stop throwing the ball just because you’re not playing? Relax dude. You were Cutler’s go to guy, and there are plenty of balls to go around. Two big time wideouts and an arm like Jay’s? That’s something you want to be a part of. Quit mouthing off and keep rehabbing. He has zero humility.

I personally don’t care either way, but I have a hunch he’s coming back.
