Sorry, folks for not getting this up prior to the game. It was a frustrating game, and I wasn’t near a computer to blog this one (which was probably a good thing).

What’s there to say about this game…

  • * Cutler threw zero TD’s and two INT’s & a fumble.
    * Henry had less than 50 yards and a fumble (although he did have 2 TD’s).
    * Denver’s defense gave up 175 yards rushing.
    * The defense also produced zero sacks.
    * Rookie QB Russell made his NFL debut going 4 of 7 for 56 yards.
    * Denver is now 5-7 and looking in from the outside of the playoffs.
  • We’ll have some more stuff up soon, but until then chime in and let us know what you thought!

What a joke, 34 – 20…. I don’t even know where to begin on how bad our team is. I will say I am tired of hearing from the coaches and the players on how “we just have to be more focused and play till the end of the game, we should be able to win the next 5 games and get into the playoffs, blah blah blah blah………”
What a joke, how about trying not finishing in last place?
How about not talking about the mental errors and not playing a full game etc…. and just shut up about the excuses and play some ball with the heart that the Broncos are known for, try playing with some Pride then and only then when you start winning you won’t have to tell us how good you are or should be, we would know… the Pride will return.
How about getting some leadership from the Coaching staff and I mean from every coach on all sides of the game.
How about tossing out the special teams coaches and try playing that part of the game as street ball, lets just wing it, could not possibly get any worse.
How about taking a good look at the Defensive front line and then working your way back, might be able to replace about 8 players… Offensive line same thing. Lets just throw out all special teams.
How about getting a quarter back coach, we have a possible great QB that is regressing into some very bad decisions, Jay has lots of hope but needs some much needed help…
How about taking a very hard look at Big Mikes play calling and his team preparation because that has been lacking for so many games I lost count.
I could go on and on but I am only talking to the choir, so lets look from the top down and start playing football with the heart we are used to seeing, not in this year tho….
We always have nest year to hope again but if this same team and coaching staff returns we are looking at the bottom of the division for years to come. What a hard thing it is to do watching our team week to week play like a bunch of confused amatuers……….Lets not finish last in the division Broncos. We just got humiliated by a very bad team today so your work is cut out for you in the next 4 games, we go to the Chargers house next week and we all know how they made us look like we still should be playing in grade school, this time we go to their house….Not Good. So Big Mike, you have 10 days to get this delapidated team to at least be able to come on to the field without falling on their butts, I hope you still have some magic left in you because you are going to need all the spells you can pull out of your playbook, good luck and may God be with you, you are going to need all the help you can get because you are all playing like a bunch of born again losers……… Lets go 2008

should go with out saying, its looking like next year. However, the D coordinator needs to GO! What did we gain? Nothing! Worse. Granted, injuries plagued us, but this Defense is really struggling with some really talented players.

Is Shanny’s job on the line?

    • http://www.broncotalk.net Jonathan Douglas

I doubt Shanahan’s job is on the line, but I would be surprised if O’brien and Bate’s jobs are secure if we miss the playoffs.

I think the thing that has me completely baffled is that fact that the team we saw on paper this off-season is sitting at 5-7. I just couldn’t have imagined it panning out this way.

    • Rick Van Meter

I think its time for Shanahan to be fired. He has under performed for years now even with all the talent he has. We need a new scheme, a new head coach and a new defensive coordinator.

    • http://YAHOO HATTER

I THINK THAT D COORDINATOR SHOULD BE GONE BECAUSE OF THE TALENT WE HAVE.IS JOHN LYNCH PAST HIS TIME FOR NOT STOPPING THE LONG BALL AS WE SEEN IN THE GREEN BAY GAME , OR IS MIKE SHANAHAN TRYING TO DRAIN THE CLOCK WHEN BEING UP IN POINTS LIKE THE CHICAGO GAME SCORE MORE POINTS LIKE THAT ONE TEAM WE ALL HATE.WE NEED A WR WITH A LONG BALL THREAT WITH ROD SMITH & JAVON WALKER OUT BECAUSE WE WILL NOT SEE ROD NEXT YEAR AFTER SITTING OUT 2 SEASONS.BRANDON IS DOING A GOOD JOB JUST NEEDS THE BALL MORE TO MAKE BIG PLAYS.GET A KICKER , PUNTER THAT CAN MAKE A TACKLE OR SLOW DOWN A RUNNER AND NOT JUST SLIDE DOWN ON THE FIELD LIKE SLIDING INTO HOME PLATE . GET TRAVIS HENRY OUT OF THERE GOOD RUNNING BACK BUT HURT TO MUCH, ANDRE HALL , SELVIN YOUNG BACK AND GO .

Who would you prefer to Shanny? Keeping in mind he runs a very specific type of offense which means “a new scheme” would likely require years of rebuilding…

    • http://www.broncotalk.net Jonathan Douglas

Good point. Not only is Shanahan the best available… We don’t have Kub.

Let me explain that… If Gary was still in Denver, I’d agree that you could hire a defense-minded man into the top coaching job and retain the offense while hopefully fixing the defense. But there is no one under Shanahan now that could maintain the system if Mike left.

I agree with Jvill. If you’re for ditching Shanahan, you’re looking to void any chance we have for 2008 AND 2009 in a questionable gamble that the new guy would be better than the mastermind. That’s not a bet I’d make.

That said, I think we need an overhaul on Special Teams and Defense.

I was going to post more about this, but I’ll sum up what I think quickly here…

I would like to see Shanahan hire some young hotshot coaches for defense and ST, rather than old coordinators that haven’t changed their scheme in years. I want to see some fresh faces and ideas. I believe, with the youth we have on this defense, that our players would respond very well to that.

Here’s a womens take. The Raiders came out with energy. They were flying around on defense and ran the ball Bronco’s style. I agree with Van Meter. Time for a change. I believe Cutler might be a little too emotional. Sunday looked like a team on the way down against a team on the way up. We came with in a time out of being swept 2 games by the silver and black….ouch

How about Art Shell as the new coach?
