The Broncos offense was spectacular. Through three and a half quarters, the defense was dominant, not allowing a Chicago drive of 50 yards, and allowing no touchdowns. Yet all that matters is the final score, which read Chicago 37, Broncos 34 after Robbie Gould kicked a 39-yard field goal in overtime. It capped the Bears’ 14-point comeback in the final 5 and a half minutes of regulation in a game the Broncos should have won in every sense of the word.

The special teams let the Broncos down today, with three Chicago touchdowns resulting from big special teams plays in the second half. Devin Hester returned both a punt and kickoff for touchdowns, and a blocked punt with under six minutes left in the game set up the Bears comeback.

The Denver Broncos (5-6) are in 2nd place in the AFC West after the Chargers beat the Ravens this afternoon. The Chicago Bears (5-6) are now 3rd in the NFC North and are still alive in the NFC Wild Card chase.

This is a tough pill to swallow, Broncos fans. This game looked like it was over in the early fourth quarter. This one falls squarely on the shoulders of Special Teams coach/”guru” Scott O’Brien, who elected to continue to kick to Hester even after the first return, and by memory at least once more after the second return. Without those plays we’re talking about the biggest blowout of the year for the Broncos. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the score should have been 34-6 in the fourth. Plain horrible that we lost this game. I’m simply livid that we lost this game.

Full AP game recap will be posted on ESPN soon – find it here – I’m out.

Yes the special teams were terrible today, but the offense still had the team ahead and the defense choaked. Dre Bly needs to find a new team. He is a detriment to the team.
To let the Bears score 2 touchdowns in the last minutes of the game and then to let them get down into field goal range is inexcusable. The Bronco defense is lousy.

O’Brien needs to find a new home also.

All the money the Broncos spent bringing all the new bodies in and they are 5 and 6–Wow, that’s idiotic.

This performance today was embarrassing. To be up 2 scores and lose–a playoff contending team wouldn’t let that happen. This was disgusting. It would be questionable if the defense could stop the school of the blind football team.

LMAO! Upon further review the Broncos still suck. We should have won that game in regulation……

    1) Non- PI call on interception to Berrian

    2) PI call on Manning’s INT (Late flag)

    3) Holding call on Rex’s TD to Olsen (Late again)

    4) THEY BROKE THE RULE ON OVERTURNING THE GROSSMAN FUMBLE–If the play is whistled dead it is non-reveiwable. We were totally cheated on that overturn.

    5) Cut block from behind on Tommie Harris on that 20 yard run that got Denver inside the five yard line

    6) False start on the LT on that 65 yard screen play that took Denver inside the five yet again.

I didn’t think there was any way we were going to beat the Broncos and the Zebras, but thanks to Devin and the defense we did.

    1) There is such a thing as incidental contact.

2-3) Late flag is still a flag.

    4) “If the play is whistled dead it is non-reviewable.” So you can only review plays that are still going? … It was a fumble, that is completely reviewable since 2006, don’t be crazy.

5-6) Wow, you must have watched the game tape about 20 times. Or you’re just spewing forum fodder.

And did you really just say your defense helped you win?

If it wasn’t for our coaches handing you this game through poor decisions, we’re talking about 20-30 points in favor of the Broncos in the 4th quarter. But you got the W, so I guess all is smiles in Chitown.

Damn Trolls. You can tell he’s never played football because anyone who has would tell you that there’s a penalty on every play, it’s how severe they are and what the refs see/want to call.

Here was the final score tally from the end of the game.

    Broncos: 34 Points
    Bears: 16 Points
Sauerbrun: 21 Points (in favor of the Bears)

Face it… The Bears had just as many penalities as we did and twice the yardage penalized. This one doesn’t fall on anyone but Shanahan. He let the Bears keep kicking to Hester. He is the genious that suddenly couldn’t hold on to the ball on offense. He is the guy that let the Bears drive down the field like they did. The players must have no faith left just like what happened in Arizona to Denny Green. Shanahan used to be good but this loss proves he’s washed up. Let’s face it… The Bears didn’t beat us… the officials didn’t beat us… we beat us. Sure the Bears threw out some spectacular plays like the catch in the endzone and those hester runs. And how can Bly get so bad once he got in our organization as to put his hands all over their reciever like that on 4th and 10. After a loss like that… what can you do but pack it up and rebuild?
