BREAKING NEWS – Sports Illustrated reports that Falcons QB Michael Vick will plead guilty to federal dog fighting charges.  The offense is punishable by up to five years in prison.

I’m out of time here, but “scum of the earth” seems to come to mind as I hear these stories… my initial reaction – I hope the NFL bans him for life.

I really think this will come down to the gambling charge.

The commissioner has played this whole thing extremely well. I’ve admired his ability to deftly handle this disgusting situation, and I would imagine he will be looking for the most acceptable solution going forward.

The gambling angle gives him the lowest risk option to ban Vick for life. In the end, he can claim that he had no choice. The NFL conduct policy is very strict when it comes to gambling. And, if it turns out that those charges remain in the plea agreement, Goodell has the perfect way to justify a lifetime ban on a player that could create a serious division among fans under any other circumstances.

Let’s all just hope that this plea deal finally fizzles the media frenzy on the subject.

Have you all seen the latest article on the Denver Post concerning Vick?

The president of the Atlanta NAACP, has asked the NFL to not suspend or ban Vick for his actions.

First off, I don’t care what color your skin is, if you break your employer’s conduct policy, they fire you — it’s that simple. You live with those rules, and so do I.

I mean, shouldn’t this group be OFFENDED when there is unfair treatment of a person based solely on ethnic background? And shouldn’t this same organization APPLAUDE employers when they treat all employees the same? If that’s the case why in the heck are they asking the NFL for special treatment for Vick if not because of his race? This group has to be one of the most racist groups in the country.

This pisses me off almost as much as their continued use of the term “colored people” in their title. It’s time the NAACP changed their name and their mission to something that will embrace equality instead of creating division!

Sorry for the rant… that just really ticked me off.
