What a task for the Denver Broncos… first, they spend two weeks away from home in Englewood, Colorado. Most camps have little more than dorm bunks for the athletes, and while I’m not familiar with the Broncos setup I can’t imagine it being all that much nicer. Then they go and participate in their first live contact against another team in San Francisco on Monday.
“Good job, way to go. Now pack up again” – we’re heading for Dallas. The Broncos arrived in Texas last night to undertake several scrimmages against the Cowboys, a team with its own high hopes behind a young up and coming quarterback. Andrew Mason has the full report of the morning workout, and the general consensus seems to be on the negative side.
I’ll give the Broncos a bye from the whirlwind travel schedule. And I’ll give them an even bigger bye since they’re participating in this practice in temperatures over 100 degrees – not something they’re used to in the Rocky Mountains, even when it is hot. Ebenezer Ekuban is optimistic they’ll adjust, though:
“I think I lost 10 pounds today, it’s that hot. But we’ll get used to it. By Saturday, we’ll be ready.”
Of interesting note is the fact that the Broncos are playing against a 3-4 scheme defense again this Saturday. They’ll do that again a third time against Cleveland next week, something that they won’t see as often in the regular season but will be perfect for them to get ready for the division rival Chargers, who also employ a 3-4.
There are plenty of more juicy nuggets at the link provided, so go check it out. The Cowboys Broncos game will be played Saturday and will air nationally on the NFL Network on Sunday (when I will get my first chance to watch).
