Happy John Elway Day!

Today is the one-and-only John Elway Day! 07-07-07 has arrived, and BroncoTalk is joining the celebration as the “Official” delegate for Wyoming and Arizona (living in Arizona, currently vacationing in Wyoming). Assuming I figured out how to post this correctly, this should show up at 7 AM on the 7th, only furthering the #7 connection. Joining the celebration are the following great blogs and fansites:

Allow me to wax poetic on all things Elway for a moment, because that’s just what I love to do. Can anyone even begin to express how much Elway meant to the Denver Broncos, the City of Denver, the State of Colorado, and the NFL in its entirety? Think about it – he has more wins and Super Bowl starts than any quarterback in history, records that have stood for over a decade now. Every quarterback in Mile High will always be measured against Elway’s huge shadow. He has meant so much to so many – this day is dedicated to all the heartbreaks, comebacks, and overwhelming joys every Broncos fan felt with Elway on the field. The number 7 has BECOME John Elway – much like 23 will always be Michael Jordan, 16 Joe Montana, the number brings back memories of the greatness of the player who wore it. Celebrate today, knowing that your Broncos had one of the greatest athletes of all time wearing a number that has become synonymous with greatness.
