Rumor Mill: Denver Has Made a Higher Offer to Dumervil than Baltimore

Per Les Shapiro of Denver’s ESPN Station 102.3, The Broncos have made a higher offer to bring back Elvis Dumervil than what is currently on the table from the Baltimore Ravens.  This is pretty unfounded at this point, so it comes down to how good of a source Les has.  That said, it appears the organization is holding to their word that they’re intent on keeping Doom in the Orange and Blue.  We’ll keep you updated as this progresses.

    Did I or did I not say this would be the case yesterday? I said that Baltimore was up the cap’s creek and couldn’t really offer him much of anything.

    This is great news on the Doom staying a Bronco front!

    I haven’t been chiming in on this topic, but man, I hope we keep Doom for purely sentimental reasons. I loved that the Broncos drafted him– he is, to my mind, the perfect example of a guy who got undervalued by a bunch of crap ‘metrics’ at the combine, even though he had set an NCAA single-season sack record while playing for a crummy team. He’s been one of my very favorite Broncos ever since. I know it’s a business and that if it comes down to it, Elway & Co. seem to have a pretty good idea what they’re doing. But I love that Doom has been a Bronco and I want to keep him!

    I just heard that the Broncos are meeting with Freeney tonight and have Abraham scheduled to come in tomorrow. Apparently Dumervil was underwhelmed with the Broncos offer and is going to take some trips to decide what he wants to do. I’m not sure that is positive news for the Dumervil re-signing.

    Maybe,just maybe they will get this decided and wrapped up in a tidy bow by the weekend or by Monday at least and we can all start focusing our sage wits on the draft issues! I think we all would like that!
