UPDATED 3/16 7:35 EST

It is possible that Gary Miller is pre-gaming a bit early, but let us error on the side of sobriety. Denver’s KCNC-TV’s Miller tweeted just moments ago that according to one of his NFL sources (Robert Ayers?) that the Denver Broncos would be moving on without Elvis Dumervil.

This would certainly end a whirlwind that went into full hurricane mode yesterday afternoon.

Today alone it has been reported that Dumervil fired his agent Marty Magid and he is rumored to have hired Peyton Manning’s agent Tom Condon. All of this setup against a backdrop of the Baltimore Ravens expressing ‘solid’ interest in the free agent defensive end, according to the Baltimore Sun Times.

UPDATE 3/16 7:35 PM EST:

Not so fast!

NFL Network’s Albert Breer says that he has been told that, “No decision has been made yet,” as to whether or not the Broncos will re-sign Dumervil.

As you can see, the story has changed just in the last thirty minutes. We will keep you up-to-date as we have all weekend as this story develops.

What you have to consider when talking about the Palmer trade is that it was the Raiders that traded for him. The same team the took Jarmarcus Russell with the 1st overall pick in the draft and followed a year later or so with Hayward Bay. You have to completely throw that trade out because the entire raider organization are a bunch of dumb asses.

  • Pete Baron

Yeah, but they could trade for him then. Lol. You gotta keep even them in the equation.

  • Pete Baron

Perfect world my friend, perfect world. Lol.

  • anthony33

Your leaving out the fact that they told his agent to shop him and work a deal. Goose eggs. I guess now that we know the agent is a complete buffoon you could make the case that the Broncos should have orchestrated their own deal.

  • Pete Baron

No no no, they said to shop for his own deal as if he’s a free agent, not a trade. It was to set his market, not get a trade. That’s why he took the pay cut, cause if he was a street free agent, he would have made $6-8mil per year, thus setting his market value and showing him that it makes sense to just stay in Denver.

Plain and simple. Trades don’t happen in the NFL. That’s it that’s all. Any teams making offers for revis…….anything? NO!!! Trades don’t happen in the NFL. Little trades here and there. Get a 2nd or 3rd round for Dummervile and we would be hearing what a junk move that was from you. That’s all they would have gotten. Either way this was done you were complaining. If Dummervile wants to be a bronco he will be a bronco. Plain and simple. So before we go bashing the moves that you may or may not think happened see where he ends up. If he’s not in the almighty blue and orange next year then his intentions were that of to blow off this contract and lead the signing and faxing and whatever bd astray. If he’s a bronco this year then it was an honest mistake. SIMPLE!!!

    LMAO!

Just found out Doom is going to give the Broncos the first opportunity to retain him!

  • Doom92

That is some funny ass shit…

  • Doom92

OK so I’m at work, its 5:30am and I’m about to leave and I’m still hoping that the league steps in and says “OK, if both parties agree its a deal”. I’m certain of it… the agent fubared all of this, its his fault and he is fired. Thats my story and the Broncos and Doom had better stick to it ;-).

  • Pete Baron

    Preach it Brother Doom!
I’ve maintained since 5 minutes after this news broke that the NFL/NFLPA could step in and make it right. There is legal precedent for agent incompetence. It was made right before, and if Elvis still wants this, it’ll be made right again (regardless of the Broncos desires, cause remember, the NFL took away the niners traded for pick and made T.O. A free agent even though the niners would have much preferred that draft pick).

  • Pete Baron

Yeah. He wants to be here. If the NFLPA/NFL steps in ala the T.O./49ers debacle, it doesn’t matter what Denver wants. It’ll be 100% what Doom wants. Like you, I really hope he stays here, and am about 70/30 thinking he will.

  • Pete Baron

Why is the Denver Post saying we should go after Abraham? I heard this in the comments too. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the Patriots sign Abraham Friday afternoon? I’d look it up, but been out of town since Friday morning and have had to rely on phone to post here. It’s too much work to look up that way. Especially in shoddy Internet coverage.

  • Pete Baron

Very well stated. I’d have been fine with at minimum of 1 second round pick even though you’re right, I’d say it wasn’t enough. But my philosophy from day 1 was sign him to pay cut or trade him for anything you can. My only demand was to not simply cut him. But you’re right, I’d have said a 3rd round pick was too little.

And on the Revis front…. It’s because the jets want multiple 1st round picks and possibly players too for him. That’s why that path is ice cold (Tampa bay excluded). If he wasn’t fresh off an ACL, then maybe things are different, but they are asking for not 1, but 2 king’s ransoms.

  • TheTroglodyte

    I like it!

  • TheTroglodyte

I partially agree with you. Our FO could do a better job. However the problem here is that nobody needed to trade for Doom.

Any team that “really” wanted him that bad would still just wait until he hit the open market and offered him 10 mil per year. No other team would have matched it and they would have saved 2 mil a year and players/draft picks in the process.

  • TheTroglodyte

    lol

That’s why I said Abraham bro. Still out there. He’s and all around d lineman stop the rush with a potent pass rush….Freeney just pass rush.

  • Pete Baron

No doubt. Can’t believe he hasn’t retired yet though. Old but still effective.

I find myself wondering if Elvis had allot to do with this to? Fires his agent and makes himself look good. Lol. The NFL NFLPA could make it better and I don’t see allot of teams saying no to the deal done either. It was a mistake that seems was huge but only 6 minutes late. 6 minutes of a life time is so petty to not let 2 sides agree to what they wanted but this is sports so who knows. I do believe this is about Elvis and what he wants and what he may have done. Lol. We will never know what happened for real but Elvis’s actions in the next few days should tell us a major part of what really happened and what each sides intentions truly were. Lets hope they were both for Doom to be here

  • Pete Baron

    Here here! +1

  • Brandon Kirk

I hope the NFLPA works it out so that Dumervil can stay a Bronco.

But, if Flacco’s pass had been 6 minutes late, the Broncos would be Super Bowl Champs…

  • Brandon Kirk

Interesting fact…Doom has yet to visit any other teams. And the Broncos have yet to bring anyone else in. Seems like both sides are hoping it can be worked out. It might not seem like a lot, but 2 days is a long time in FA time…

  • Brandon Kirk

Also, the DE market is silent waiting for Dumervil.

  • Pete Baron

    Lol

  • areferee

    Show me the F-ing MONEY!

Here is what I hope will be the Final word on all of this crapola…

    In my very humble opinion…

Elvis Dumervil showed how much he still wanted to be a Bronco by agreeing to take a 4 Frikking Million Dollar paycut. This ain’t chump change, Fellas!

The Broncos ultimately offered him 3 Frikking Million dollars more than they were on the hook for, regardless of who did what, or when.

The proof is in the pudding, Boys. They had a deal. Elway signed it… Doom signed it… and Kinkos Frikking FAXed it!

    So, shut the FUP!
