It has been a tough season for Broncos cornerback Tracy Porter.

The 26-year-old defensive back signed a one-year, $4 million deal with Denver in March, entering the season as Denver’s No. 2 cornerback across from Champ Bailey. After four up-and-down games to start the season, Porter was ruled out of Denver’s Week 6 game against San Diego due to seizure-like symptoms.

In Porter’s absence, second-year cornerback Chris Harris won the starting job, and kept it long after Porter had been cleared to play again.  Last week, the Broncos finally dressed Porter for a game—for the first time in nine weeks—and the cornerback saw action on the first defensive series.

On the third play of the game, Porter collided with Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon and collapsed to the ground, regaining his poise and trotting to the sideline a few moments later.  Putting an explanation point to a rough luck story that has lasted all season for Porter, the cornerback was diagnosed with a concussion and did not return to the game.

When the Broncos (12-3) take on the Chiefs (2-13) this week, Porter will miss his tenth game of the season while recovering from the concussion, after not participating in practice all week.  If all goes well, Porter could be back in time for the Divisional Round of the Playoffs in January.

It’s sad to see a player have such a tough season, but John Elway and the Broncos look pretty smart now for only signing Porter to a one-year deal.  Best of luck in your recovery and future endeavors, Tracy.

I have to admit that after having a couple of good games I was all geared up for the Broncs to sign Porter to a long term deal. I sure am glad that Elway and Co. are running the show and not myself. Elway has almost seemed prophetic this season with his moves. If he doesn’t win Exec-of-the-Year then the award is all but meaningless.

Considering Poter’s injury history; as Paradisimo said, it was a brilliant move to sign him to just a 1 year deal. I wish the guy the best but I don’t want to see him back in uniform for us unless he is being used as a sub or injury replacement. We have great chemistry with the guys we have been running with so hopefully it continues going the way it has.

It’s too bad Tracy Porter has had so many injuries this season, but at least Chris Harris has stepped up big time. The Broncos don’t need Porter against the Chiefs anyway, and I can’t wait to watch Denver win their 11th straight on Sunday. Unfortunately I won’t be able to watch the game live this weekend because I’ll be working my shift at DISH. I already set up my DISH Hopper to record it for me though, so I can watch when I get home. I love that my DVR can record and store up to 2,000 hours of entertainment so I never miss my games anymore.

As much as I like the Caveman, I disagree with this one, but I have no idea why. hehehe

Thanks to Jon, I have the desire to post once again… even inane ones like this!

I know, me too. In fact, I won’t be able to watch the game live this weekend because I’ll be working my shift at DISH. I already set up my DISH Hopper to record it for me though, so I can watch when I get home. I love that my DVR can record and store up to 2,000 hours of entertainment so I never miss my games anymore. It has been a difficult season, but Porter is a talented guy and he’s young. Obviously he’s not a 4 million dollar guy, but our great Champ is almost 35. I’d like to give Porter another chance, obviously with less money.
