Peyton Manning

Now that we know the 53 men that will be tasked with carrying our hopes and dreams as fans of this Denver Broncos football team, let’s examine each position in greater detail. We’ll start with the offense and the obvious positional choice of Quarterback.  The rest of the positions will be published over the next three days.

Peyton Manning

When John Elway threw a giant dump truck full of Benjamin’s at Peyton Manning back in March in order to make him a Denver Bronco, I was distraught. The highs Tim Tebow brought in 2011 – especially the AFC Wild Card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers which was still fresh on the brain – made the thought of dumping him in favor of a 36 year old guy coming off a bunch of neck surgeries was scary as hell.

Suffice to say, all of those worries have been mostly dispelled. Manning isn’t quite the Manning of old, but he is close enough to still be near the top echelon of quarterbacks in the NFL. At the very least, the Broncos should win the weak AFC West Division this year. (Profile)

Caleb Hanie

For all the hate this guy gets, he actually is a solid backup quarterback. What people don’t understand is that a good backup will likely want a shot at a starting job someplace else. Peyton Manning is all there is, without him the season is lost. The same could be said for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots or Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints and the list could go on quite a ways. The Broncos are not unique in needing their starting quarterback to have any chance of being successful, that said, I’d be okay with Caleb Hanie needing to fill in for a game or two – beyond that, the Broncos would be in serious trouble. Brock Osweiler

I have not been impressed by Brock Osweiler at all this preseason, but he is a rookie, so we’ll leave it at that. If he sees the playing field at all this year the Broncos will end up losing a lot of games. I look forward to seeing how he develops from year 1 to year 2, but I am a long way from buying into Brock as a long term starter in the NFL. (Profile)

BT Projected Starter: Peyton Manning (duh, God help us if he isn’t)

The Pats have Ryan Mallett. They will be just fine without Brady as long as they can get him back come playoff time. The thing that sucks about not using Weber is he “should have” had the best grasp on the system we are running. It’s his second year. He certainly would not have been worse than Hanie.

That decision is just flat out baffling and I have to attribute it to John Fox being arguably the most stubborn coach in the NFL when it comes to personnel. Nobody else gets player crushes like he does. Delhomme, Moore, Foster, etc.

so you were UPSET when the broncos brought in manning and sent tebow packing?!?!! why am i reading this? your opinion doesn’t matter.

  • areferee

Adam Weber signs with the Tampa Bay PS.

  • Tim Lynch

Elway likes prototypical…it wasn’t person to Tebow either I suppose. :)

  • Tim Lynch

Yes, I was…no need to be a dick about it. Peyton Manning had 4 neck surgeries and Tebow helped us win the division for the first time in SIX YEARS. Sorry you are so bitter about the Tebow thing…

  • TheTroglodyte

    lol

  • TheTroglodyte

Why am I reading this? Neither does yours.

  • Tim Lynch

    *personal

  • Jim_Jebow

I was a lil butt hurt too, but seeing pfm throw a football that actually hit his receivers in the hands made me forgive and forget. pfm all the way

  • Tim Lynch

Thank you – that was the exact message I was trying to convey!

Haven’t been this happy since Cutler’s last year before the injuries killed us…

  • anthony33

Completely agree. Wish Fox would take the Pete Carrol approach and give all a true fair shot and then make a decision based on who perfomed best. Hannie is a proven liability.

  • fiercepika

Yep. And I’m feeling a mixture of sadness, relief, and schadenfreude watching Tebow’s total non-improvement with the Jets. I used to think his flashes would result in great things with development…now I’m thinking he may never develop.

  • Tim Lynch

As a nonsensical Tebowmaniac whose opinion is worthless, I agree. lol

  • disqus_jZ7gaxrrfX

Peyton us washed up…should of kept tebow…n if jets would switch sanchez with him they would see a playoff game this year…
