Austin Wuebbels is strong. If you don’t believe me, go watch this video, then come back.

That was Wuebbels busting out 43 reps on the 225-pound bench press: a mark that broke the Mizzou school record. He didn’t get a combine invite (he graduated in 2011), but had he, and had he matched that number, it would have been one of the most impressive workout performances at the combine, second only to Kansas City Chiefs first round pick Dontari Poe‘s 44 reps. Outside of the weight room, Wuebbels played mostly right guard at Mizzou and finished his career starting in 39 consecutive games. He was Honorable Mention All Big-12 Football Honors in each of the last two years, as well as a four-time Academic All Big-12 honoree.

Scouting Reports: PFW, NFLDS, MU, Broncos

Camp Competition: Zane Beadles, Chris Kuper, Manny Ramirez, C.J. Davis, Wayne Tribue

Camp Outlook: There’s not a lot on Wuebbler. He was known as a mainstay, and the resident “Mean Guy“, on the Mizzou O-line for three seasons while players occupying Mizzou’s left guard spot competed for the job. He helped lead the Tigers to the Big 12’s top-ranked rushing unit in 2011. He was one of the players the Broncos individually worked out heading up to the draft. He is not renowned for his football talent, but the Broncos’ depth at guard is lacking — with a strong camp this “mean guy”/workout warrior/academic could make the Broncos’ roster.

BroncoTalk’s undrafted rookie reports are compiled by examining second-hand scouting reports, news articles, and, when available, film footage of the Broncos’ undrafted rookie. Wuebbels is one of 13 undrafted free agent rookies the Broncos will bring in to compete in their 2012 training camp.

I think we struck Gold!!! The “Mean Guy” huh? Can’t wait to see him play.  I’m sure he’ll make the cut

  • Speer

Actually, mental toughness is what makes an NFL player great, so only time will tell.

Being a mean cuss is mostly mental.  Even the biggest a-hole feels pain – it takes a person with incredible mental toughness to be the mean guy in the trenches.  This guy might just replace Beadles by opening day.

Hulk smash!!! Time spent on the road, playing hurt, sick, etc… and we have the second toughest schedule in the NFL.  He better stay “Mean” and I remain optimistic.

Keep these reports coming Monty.  I’m getting stoked.

    You got it.

An undrafted rookie beating out Beadles for the starting lineup? He will be lucky to make the roster!

  • inkdup

yes sir you guys got a steal… this dude is a beast….im a long time mizzou fan..this guy is a animal in the trenches im not really sure why his stock wasnt higher but he is a good football player im not saying he is gonna come in and start but im pretty confident he will make the team and after some work and pro coaching he will be a good player…oh ya and mizzou lead the big 12 in rushing running behind him 85% of the time
