The Denver Broncos will visit with at least one draft prospect at the team’s Dove Valley facility on Monday, the same day the team will begin organized offseason workouts.  Utah State running back Robert Turbin will visit the team, according to a Denver Post report.

Turbin (Jr., 5-10, 222 lbs.), is a twenty-two year old bruiser who rushed for 1,517 yards and 19 touchdowns last season with 45 career scores.  Denver has been interested in Turbin since before the combine and spoke to the top-ten running back prospect in February.

At the NFL’s Scouting Combine, Turbin ran a 4.50 forty-yard-dash, completed 28 bench press repetitions (225 pounds) and ran a 4.31 twenty-yard-shuttle.  With speed, athleticism, size and receiving ability, Turbin has the potential to be a draft day steal if he falls to the mid-rounds of the draft.

Turbin is one of BT‘s favorite running backs in the draft and seems to be the type of back that Head Coach John Fox favors.  While in Carolina, Fox drafted DeAngelo Williams 27th overall in 2006 as a 5-9, 217 pound shifty back with power and in 2008 drafted a 5-10, 235 pound Jonathan Stewart 13th overall.

While Turbin isn’t expected to go in the first round, he is similar to Williams and Stewart in his size and style of play.  The Broncos are expected to add a running back to their rotation through the draft, might Turbin be that back?

Would you like to see Denver draft Turbin later this month?  Dish out your thoughts in the comments.

What is his round projection?  Be nice if we could focus on DT on the first two picks and pick him up in the 3rd round

It looks like he is projected to be a mid third rounder.  He could be “Plan B” if the Broncos miss out on Lamar Miller.  You won’t likely get your DT wish for the first two picks – probably one of the two first picks though. :)

If we draft Miller in the 1st I’m going to freak out like nobody has ever seen. lol. The goal is to win a SB not have an overpowering offense that can’t get it done in the playoffs. As Pat said, I want championships not division titles.

Turbin would be a SWEET 3rd round pickup.

Productive RBs are a dime a dozen, I hope we don’t use a 1st round pick on one.

Robert Turbin would be a steal in the 4th rd. I watched this guy through is college career. Solid player. Check out is 99 yard run vs Utah. Can see his speed. USU also has a nother speedster Den should look at in UFA. RB Smith.

Bronco fans if Den Landed this guy with one of therir 2 4th round picks. Oh man that would be awesome.

Trading back to pick up extra picks, and still getting Lamar Miller would make me feel much better about it. ;)

Oh yeah, that is why every one has one!?! Really?

  • Anonymous

He might last until the 3rd but not the forth. When we pick a RB I hope its not in the first or second but after that lets do it.

  • Anonymous

Agree he would be but I do think there are better available before that or him, however I don’t want to use a 1st on any of them, really not a second either but that would be better than a 1st. Hence Turbin would be a good grab there.

  • Doomboom18

Agreed Doom92. Most likely would be gone by 4th. I’m on wishful thinking until draft lol

There’s a lot of RB’s that Denver could plug into their offense and get production out of them. Heck, even Lance Ball performed well when given the ball, and we didn’t use a 1st round pick on him.

  • Anonymous

Yes that used to be the case but not so much any more. Lance Ball performed OK at best. If he had performed well he would be the starter or at least in these talks but he isn’t, they have tried to plug him in and it has not worked “well”. The scheme is much different than the plug in Gary, Droughns or Anderson. Those days are a bit gone. Also, if there are so many of them where are they? NoShow sure isn’t one of them nor is Ball. Not doggin ya Brother-man, this just no longer holds water!

I disagree. But it doesn’t even matter… I just don’t think they should draft a RB in the 1st round when in the past few years 2nd-4th rounders have been just as and sometimes more productive (i.e DeMarco Murray (3rd round) and C.J. Spiller (1st round)).

  • Anonymous

Oh I for sure agree with that Jon and don’t want one in the first round either, really not in the second either, not now any way. Yes there are mid draft RB’s that show up and make a name, thats not what I mean has changed. I just don’t think you can plug in “anyone”, we’ve tried that (Ball). And your also right with Spiller, he is NoShow all the way.

Its OK to disagree though, we just look at it differently but for sure agree on the RB in the first round… Just say no!

  • http://Facebook.com/BroncosZone Jon

I don’t think they could plug in just anybody and have him be productive, but I think there are a lot of options besides drafting a RB in the first round… which I believe we agree on.

    Is it draft day yet?!
