The Oakland Raiders may consider trying to trade for New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow, RaidersTalk learned early Sunday morning.
Gan Stermama, a Raiders fan who lives in the local Oakland area, called RaidersTalk editors this morning to break the news. Â Stermama informed us that he has been trying to contact ESPN since January to report the story, but he has not been able to reach them.
Although this is the first news report that Stermama has broken, he was in the news last December when he shot his boyfriend in the thigh in the O.co Coliseum parking lot following a Raiders loss to the Detroit Lions.  The police resolved the dispute and no charges were filed.
The Jets sent sixth and fourth round picks to Denver last month in exchange for Tebow and a seventh round pick — Oakland would be willing to make a better offer. The Raiders would like to retain quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Terrelle Pryor, but they reportedly would be willing to trade Rhett Bomar and five of their seven 2013 draft selections to New York in exchange for Tebow.  Oakland may be planning a revolutionary three-way quarterback rotation, but that has not yet been confirmed.
We have calculated that Tebow is owed $1.1 million in 2012, which is well in range of what the Raiders are willing to pay.
Stay tuned as we continue to cover this developing story.
