Interactive Mock Draft – Pick Four

After the short weekend intermission, we will continue with the Interactive Mock Draft. No breaks from now on.

With the fourth pick in the 2012 Interactive Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns select…


4. Cleveland Browns Logo Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M

Here we go, the first of two first round picks for the Cleveland Browns. I know what most of you are thinking, why not try and use the ammunition to trade into the number two spot and take RGIII?

The answer is simple, the Browns are pretty terrible and one quarterback, no matter how good, will not be the answer. The Browns are still in the middle of a 13-year rebuilding project. They have no quarterback, no good wide receivers, no premier running back, and a pretty decent left tackle wasting his career. Because of all this, it’s time to solidify one of these major offensive positions.

With the number four pick, we’re taking Ryan Tannehill, quarterback out of Texas A&M. This could be a dramatic reach, or even a slight reach, but either way the Browns need a franchise quarterback to get behind and Colt McCoy is not the answer. With this pick the Browns can clear up a position of need on their roster and leave room for a good pick later in the first round to shore up some other offensive skill positions. And, let’s face it, he’s not pushing 30 heading into his rookie year…Brandon Weeden I’m looking in your direction.

The question now turns to who the Browns will draft come pick 22, to find out the answer, tune in April 11.

    Damn that’s who I was going to pick at #8.  I thought I would be reaching for him at that spot, but this kid could be worth it

    I Disagree with this pick and in my opinion its not only a reach at 4 but another reach at 8 but I do agree Miami will likely take the risk at 8 but in no way do I see the Browns reaching for Tannehill at 4. Again, in no way does Mike Holmgren reach for Tannehill at 4 when he waited til round 3 to draft McCoy who was 2nd or 3rd best rated QB in 2010 draft. Holmgren will wait til Round 2 and Draft Weeden if he takes a QB at all, now that Cleveland didnt land the 2 overall pick. Weeden is the 3rd best QB available while his age keeps him out of the 1st round he doesnt need 2-3 years to develop like Tannehill. I like Tannehill dont get me wrong but Holmgren will wait and try his best not to reach on players. Cleveland has quietly put together a solid defense drafting players like Phil Taylor and Joe Haden with their last 2 1st round picks and what goes well with a solid defense??? a running game. So I would lean to Trent Richardson for the Browns pick.

    I had thought long about that, it came down to Tannehill, Blackmon, and Richardson. Even though I am a Bama fan, I can’t take a RB in the first round…I’m adamantly against it regardless of the player.

    You’re assuming the Browns are logical.

    This pick makes a lot of sense, especially with Heckert talking up Colt McCoy lately and saying that they may trade down. Smoke signals are easy to see through when your organization sucks.

    While I’m no expert, I can say with 10000% certainty that Holmgren will never, ever draft a WR that early in the first round.
