Tracy Porter in Super Bowl XLIV (Groll/AP Photo)

The Denver Broncos signed free agent cornerback Tracy Porter to a one-year deal worth $4 million, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Porter is most famous for returning a Peyton Manning interception 74 yards for a touchdown to seal Super Bowl XLIV for his New Orleans Saintsa few years ago; now he’ll be trying to repeat the feat in practice.

Porter, 25, will likely start opposite Champ Bailey for the Broncos.

Good deal for the Broncos to see if Porter can stick in the NFL as a starting cornerback and finish a year healthy, something he has never done. Now it’s time to shore up that defensive tackle position.

  • Jon

    Great signing.

  • Dbuckj

    Yess great pick up broncos!

  • Josh Temple

This was one of my key building blocks for Peyton and the Broncos to accomplish their goal, another ring.  Plus he is Manning’s kryptonite.  Great job Broncos.  Champ finally has help on the other side!

  • yogi

    Secondary — check.

  • anthony33

Would like it a whoe lot more if it was a 2-3 year deal… one year seems odd.

    uh… that would be WHOLE

  • Tom9798

    Very good pick . . . experience . . . has a ring . . and he’s 25.

  • colorancher

One yeaer deal is to see if he stays healthy!! If so and he produces, then he gets a longer deal. I like the signing. Younger CB that has potential.

  • dbroncs24/7

Finally! I’ve wanted him since the start, great value pickup. Now we draft a DT in the first.

  • Dmandarich

This shocked me a bit, I thought it was going to be offense in free agency from here on out and defense in the draft…..still would like to see Saturday brought in and maybe Tamme. I thought Wallace was a thought but after seeing him wanting more than Fitzgerald I can see why EFX isn’t talking to him. I am curious to see what they are going to do at RB………

I like the signing too… just don’t see many one year deals… we seem to have hard time hanging on to our good players.

More pieces to add, but it’s a start.

Think of the pieces added around that three year magnificent run.

Then add the draft choice of Mr Davis.

Would love to see Saturday and Tamme as well.  Experience to work with Walton for a year or two and youth at tight end.

  • Thomasharris54

    let’s give up 2nd & 5th round pick & Knowshon 2 the bears 4 Matt Forte & give him bout 8 or 9million a year with 30million guaranteed.

  • Hope

    what an idiot.

  • Cdub12344321

Lol ironic I was just asking about this earlier. lets go huge pickup in to excited man I can’t wait for the season and the new madden!

  • Cdub12344321

One more thing Bronconation let’s not forget about our up and coming Mr.Harris if he develops more our secondary is going to be NASTY!!!!

  • Rbschaeffer22

Broncos in madden won’t suck this year, it feels like the 90’s again!

  • rcsodak

How was he able to play in a SB if he never finished a yr healthy? Or for that matter, are ANY players truly “healthy” at yr’s end?

  • rcsodak

Youth? Did you miss last yr’s draft?

  • rcsodak

Too a running back? Coming off IR?

  • Man_one

And Syd’quan Thompson comin off IR.

  • Man_one

Rcsodak, im assuming rapid city, soutj dakota. Im from there.

  • Man_one

I love how we keep signing players from teams we are going to play this season. Lets get Dreessen tomorrow!

  • Anonymous

I am going with the fact the SB is played in the following year so he was maybe hurt in December but better in January, he was being tricky…

  • Man_one

    605 schoolin yo ass$

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t he involved in the Bounty issue?  I like the signing and all, but hope he isn’t one of the players that was involved.  I was reading somewhere that the player suspension are coming soon.  I think someone was mentioning previously that Porter may be suspended.

  • Dark_1s

We should get Amobi Okoye he was drafted at a young age (19) and he
seems like he’s now getting more adjusted to the NFL each year and if we
would be getting him at his peak.

  • rcsodak

Born and bred.  ;’)  (and miss)

  • rcsodak

    Triiiickyyyyyyy…..   ;’)

  • rcsodak

  • SivNiz

    And Quintin Carter!

  • NMBronc

I was just about to post same….hope there is a clause in his contract or he is only suspended for a couple games.

  • Cdub12344321

Let’s go Moore step it up this year!

  • speer

As long as Tracey Porter keeps his mouth shut about anything and everything about the bounty program, (even if he’s sticking up for his former teammates), everything will be fine. If Tracey reads this, which he won’t, STFU!!! Pretend it never happened and it doesn’t exist. End of story.
