As soon as Peyton Manning officially signs with the Denver Broncos, the team will place fellow quarterback Tim Tebow on the trading block, according to ESPN.  Although the team will try to trade him, it is not guaranteed that they will be able to do so.

ESPN‘s Cecil Lammey says that the team will look for two draft picks in exchange for Tebow, second and fifth round selections.  Lammey also speculates that Denver will be interested in Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart if he hits the trading block, as Carolina just signed free agent running back Mike Tolbert.

There has been heavy speculation that the Broncos will now try to trade in several other free agents for Manning, including tight end Dallas Clark and possibly wide receiver Mike Wallace.  Another option would be former Colts center Jeff Saturday, who would be viewed as an upgrade over Denver’s J.D. Walton.

Tebow, 24, was drafted by the Broncos in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft (25th overall).  After playing in only three games during his rookie season, Tebow played in twelve games last season and lead the Broncos to an 8-8 record and a playoff appearance for the first time since the 2005 season.

Though he has an unconventional throwing motion and often struggles as a passer, Tebow is a phenomenal athlete, teammate and rusher.  After the Broncos were embarrassed by the New England Patriots in the Divisional round of the playoffs last season however, team Owner Pat Bowlen said he wanted to win Championships, not Divisions.

The team is now expected to move on from Tebow, who has 2,383 career passing yards and seventeen touchdowns against nine interceptions.  Though there is still a possibility that he could stay with the Broncos, it appears that Tebow Time will be leaving Denver.

What’s your take on the situation?  Will you root for Tebow if he goes to another team?

10 years from now ESPN will make another movie like “The Brady 6” making fun of John Elway and the Denver Broncos for making this mistake. We’ll all laugh at joke about how they took a 36 year old QB coming off a year’s absence over Tim Tebow. Elway sealed your fate today. Enjoy the QB carousel in Denver. I hope you all get exactly what you wanted.

He’s a great person. But not a great QB..  Maybe someone will use him as a fullback?  Miami or NE(with Mcdaniels) might be a good fit!!

They need to keep Tebow.  Who is to say that Manning will not be hurt again.  Let Manning teach Tebow to throw accurately.  He made big inprovements throughout the year, but our receivers suck.  Teach him!!!!

Na na na, na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye!

Keep TT as a back up even if PM and TT styles of football are completely different. Hell they can use Tebow to just run the ball and trick plays.

Our WR’s don’t “suck” as you put it.  They aren’t Tier 1 WR’s, nor Hall of Fame caliber. Timmy can’t throw the ball worth a damn (yeah, he made the greatest throw we will ever see from him to DT against the Steelers.)  I would take a 50% Manning over a 100% Timmy.  IF the Broncos do keep Timmy, maybe he could learn how to properly throw the ball, and maybe he could turn into a really good QB.

  • Mikidesmarias

they need to keep Tebow and let the hall of fame QB manning teach him a thing or two hundred. i like Tebow but he just cant throw the ball

  • ronster

The 2nd best thing about signing Peyton is quieting (somewhat) the Tebow fans whether he stays or not.  If Tebow goes and his fan base goes too, I’m buying the beer — not to celebrate his leaving but the very high % of myopic fans.

I was born and raised in Colorado. Been a Bronco fan my whole life. Elway was god! His first few years in Denver he wasn’t great. Then took us to a couple of winning super bowls. Then we get a bunch of Crap qbs. Then along comes Tebow. With a little more training he could be our next great qb. But Denver signs Manning…..the dude just had 4 neck surgerys! There is a reason Indy doesn’t want him. One good shot and he is done! and we are going to trade our only hope from last year, Tebow brought us back from a losing season and Denver is going to repay him by trading him for a used up old qb who hasn’t played all last season and could be a HUGH liability? Do we have monkeys running the Headquarters this year? Come on Denver this is bull. Manning use to be a good qb. He has a bad personaility when it comes to losing. If Tebow gets traded for this has been I’ll not be in support of the Broncos. I hope the rest of the team the best and will be sending out condoliance letters when manning gets hurt first game. As far as being faithful to the home team. That no longer applies when you give one of the better players we’ve had in a long time the shaft. Tebow I will follow wherever you go and that will be who I root for. What the Corporation is doing is BS.

  • rcsodak

    Gonna miss the Teboners…….

    …..NOT!

  • Broncmanc

I agree that we don’t need those fans. I personally don’t look forward to the Manning fans we are about to see bussed in.

Look on the bright side.  You’ll be able to get No. 15 shirts on ebay cheap enough to wallpaper the house with them.

While I love the thought of Jeff Saturday coming into Denver with Manning, I believe his long-range value might be to mentor young J.D. Walton.  Walton was a BEAST in college and did VERY well his rookie year (the o-line only allowed 23 sacks during his rookie season… that’s better than Saturday’s Colts have ever done).  Bringing in a 36yr old veteran Center with familiarity with Manning is a good idea, but let’s not ditch or dis Walton over this – he is still our club’s future.

  • kerrry

oh dont cry. you only have to get a poster of Tebow to beat off to. relax.

  • kerrry

um Indy was in the middle of a rebuiling phase and owed MAnning 28 million a couple weeks ago. Denver isnt rebuilding, they needed a QB how can actually complete a pass  beyond 15 yards and can complete  more then 5 passes a game.

Thank you for this wonderful post!!!   You definitely have your head on straight.   I heard on radio that 2 years ….NO Super Bowl…..Elway and Fox are DEAD in Denver.  Well, let’s hope Tebow goes to a team that will appreciate what he brings to the locker room and a coach and owner that will “set him free”……not liars like we have here in Denver.

If I remember correctly Obi Wan Kenobi was pretty old when he became the “only hope”.

So, once again a “long time” fan gives up because our 3rd string project QB is replaced by a HOF QB.  Did you give up when Atwater went to the Jets?  How about Sharpe and Pryce going to the Ravens…you know pro bowl players who actually excelled at their positions for several years?  I like Tebow (alot) but Manning is better in every way that counts, of course the front office had to try and get him.  If you are a Broncos fan you want the best possible team, the players mentioned above were some of my favorites…was I pissed…yes, but always a Broncos fan.

  • Anonymous

    alright I give up…why the third “r”?

  • Anonymous

C´mon guys… Tebow is a good guy… by the way, we are 49ers fans and were hoping Peyton ended up there… well played Denver, well played…

  • Mmarshall1958

We just made the biggest acquisition in football history, finish it off by keeping Tebow and making him a fullback or tightened. We desperately need a tightens and who better than Tebow to fill that void. He has already said he just wants to play football and be a part of a winning organization. After all, how many players are there in the.NFL who once played QB but now play another position.

  • Anonymous

PM didn’t feel the need to tutor Curtis Painter or Dan Orlozsky (sp), he wouldn’t start now with Tebow.

  • crazykid

    thats stupid

    I’m a Broncos fan 1st and foremost.
I want Tebow on the Broncos more than Manning, only because I think that Tebow will mature into a complete QB and lead any good franchise to a superbowl. I think Manning is a short term fix, and now we have to give up on *hopefully* a long term fix.

I’ve been a Broncos fan my entire life, and I will never, ever, ever give up on this team. I also will say that as we stand today, Manning is absolutely better than Tebow. Manning is WAY ahead than Tebow, as he should be for being in the league for 15 years. However, I still would rather have Tebow, just because of the long term potential that Tebow has. Of course, things can change that soften me up on this stance, such as Manning actually winning a superbowl with us, or maybe a Tebow for Mallet straight up trade, which will have Mallet (remember, if not for character concerns, would have been the 1st or 2nd QB taken in his draft) learning behind Manning for 3 or so years. That would soften me up on this.

I will always love the Broncos. Always, always, always, and I will always back and root for our team. You’ll never catch me wanting to tank a game or a season. Because of my loyalty, I will 100% welcome Manning and proclaim that we are going to the superbowl, but at the same time, a tiny part of me is crying inside because I really liked Tebow and had high hopes for him.

Welcome to Denver Manning, hope you win 5 more rings before you retire!!! And as always……

    GO BRONCOS!!!

Given the history and stats supporting Peyton Manning, his fans won’t be telling us something we didn’t already know before. I will be happy to get rid of the non-Bronco fans that begged for us to be blind to all of Tebow’s faults, and belief was all we needed to win games. But when we lost, it was the fault of the staff and 51 other players on the team.

  • Cheryl

I never have liked cry baby Manning and never will.  I am in my 60’s and have been a true Bronco find from when they started and have went through a lot of ruff times but still kept being a true loyal fan but this takes the cake.  Tebow may not be the best yet but he will be if given a chance.  What would Elway have done if Broncos gave up on him.  Tebow looks just like Elway did when he got started.  You upper office people should be a shame of yourself for take the trust you are suppose to give the players.  Faith and trust is what builds a country and team.  I guess we can’t trust anyone any more can we.  Tebow if they trade you keep your head high and show them what you are made of.  Manning wont last his too old and I wont feel sorry for him or the big shots when he gets hit and can’t get up.  Then who will be crying in their beer.  I will only fill sorry for the players.  I will follow Tebow and I am not sure at my age if I want to go throw another drama year with the Broncos.  Your losing fans and money out of yoyr pockets.  Dumb is one thing but stupidity is another.

  • Anonymous

I’ll always admire Tebow for his work ethic, never give up attitude, and just being the person he is. I am eagerly awaiting putting the Tebowmanics in a UPS truck to the next team tho.

  • Stevecalyank

The Broncos 1 and 4, bring in Tebow, win the division beat the steelers in the playoffs. look it up tebow is one of the greatest percentage passes in college football history, ran for more touchdowns at Florida than the great Emmett Smith, seems to me he just needs some adjustments, seems to me he made great pin-point passes against the steelers in the playoffs, Tebow would have sold more NFL merchandise than any player the next few years, the broncoes won’t have that any more (maby Manning will???), seems like elway and fox just don’t like the guy, I hope it’s the best thing for Tebow.

  • Meh

I don’t understand why some Broncos fans actually hate Tebow.  I just don’t understand.  I think there must be some unspoken anti-religious thing or something along those lines.

I’m not religious and Tebow’s failures last year frustrated the hell out of me, but I was happy that when he became QB we won more games than we lost and even won a play-off game.

    Confused.  I just don’t get it…

  • c u lookin

i think it is stupid to trade tim tim tebow after he just got the broncos to the playoffs and manning who if he gets one good hit on him he is done. it is retarded.

How much of the salary cap is going to chapstick to get Smith back?

  • Anonymous

the advice now is that smith takes the 8 per for 3 years…

  • colorancher

A little more training or HOF QB now? Tebow was McDaniels’ project. How did he do? Tebow has a great heart and great attitude, but i am also a life long broncos fan and from day one he wasn’t going to take us to the promise land. He is not a passer! period.. Great runner, yes.. this is a league dominated by passers.. And who likes losing? Not me! And if you switch teams with tebow then you are a fair weather fan and not a part of bronco nation.. audios!!!

  • Mitch

Why must it automatically be anti-religious?  I imagine it probably stems from the vocal majority telling everyone that Tim will turn in to a quality quarterback and ignoring the fact that he couldn’t complete a pass beyond 10 yards.

It’s hard to defend a quarterback that completes less than 50% of his passes and had a game where he only completed two throws.

Yeah, the team won a lot of games, but that was a team effort, not Tim.  He had some clutch plays, but most of the time, it was his fault that the team was losing by so much (horrible completion percentage and third down percentage).  I was never confident in that team last year.  When they lost, they lost bad.

It will be nice to see Bey-Bey blossom under a QB that can actually throw the ball.  Same for Decker.

I expect to see the Broncos draft a QB in the 2nd round of this draft (Foles, Cousins or that big guy from Arizona State) to learn under Manning.  Tebow is not Elway’s guy nor is he Fox’s guy.  Every regime wants their own QB that they can groom for the future.

  • Tom9798

Every true Bronco fan appreciates what Tim Tebow did last year.  From Pat Bowlen, John Elway, the whole team, and all of its fans.

We went 8-8, beat Pittsburgh, within two games of the SuperBowl.

With our schedule, we could only hope to do that again.

We lost four games by less than seven points.  The 7-3 loss to K.C. was unacceptable.

The goal is home field advantage.  13-3, 12-4, whatever it takes.  That’s how we won the last two Superbowls.

We can’t afford to be 8-8 next year . . . we’ll probably face Pittsburgh or Baltimore after the bye week.

We need to outscore the other team NOW.

LMAO… I wondered which would be first, talk about Peyton or whining about Tebow.
