We knew that former Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Stokley — a former teammate of Peyton Manning‘s — stopped by Dove Valley on Saturday to help the Broncos try to sway Manning.

What we didn’t know was that Stokley also ran about fifty routes for Manning on Saturday morning at Castle Rock Park.  Stokley said Manning looked great and his arm looked like it did “six years ago,” according to the Denver Post‘s Mike Klis.

“I’ll put whatever reputation I have on the line behind that guy right now. He looks great,” Stokley told Klis.

Stokley, 35, is also a free agent and is very familiar with Manning, so we wonder if Denver would be interested in signing him, too — if the team landed Manning.  It is widely known that Manning wants former teammate Reggie Wayne to follow him wherever he signs in free agency, might he want Stokley to follow, as well?

With talented, younger receivers, the Broncos may decide to overlook Stokley.  Signing him to at least compete in training camp would be the least that they could do if he helps persuade Manning to sign in Denver, though.

Then again, Stokley may not even be interested in returning to Denver — but running routes for Manning before encouraging him to sign with the Broncos does not suggest that he is ready to walk away from the game.  A thirteen-year veteran, Stokley spent part of last season on the Giants roster.

From 1999-to-2011, Stokley has played for five teams and has caught over 330 passes for 4,680 yards and 34 touchdowns.  A two-time Super Bowl Champion, Stokley’s best season came in 2004 when he caught 68 passes for 1,077 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Stokley was Manning’s teammate for four seasons in Indianapolis and was a Bronco for three more seasons after leaving the Colts.  If the two have plans to reunite in Denver, we would be all for it.

If that is true, Denver needs to wrap up Manning ASAP!!!!

I cant believe Stokley is still playing.

He seems older than he really is because he is white.

I thought he retired after his year with the Seahawks and Giants…
If he still has it, sing him up. Great team mate to have on the roster. One of my personal favorites

Hopefully we can add Stokely to the best geriatric team
(I didn’t know he can sing to, just keeps gettin better & better),
the superbowl victories will just keep adding up for the oldest, most experienced team in the NFL…your Denver Broncos. Sure were old, but we have clinched the next 2-3 SuperBowls! Thanks FEX!

omg you guys cannot be serious? Anyone who wants Stokely on the team is out of their freaking mind! There is a reason he didn’t play last year, he can’t go any more. The guy gets injured more often than Knowshon Moreno. He hasn’t lost a step, he’s lost two steps.

The guy suited up for 11 games in 2010 and caught 31 balls. He played in 2 games last year and caught 1. I mean this is just delusional talk.

What the hell are we the Raiders trying to build a team of over the hills and hasbeens hoping we can milk out a few last drops? Manning sucks in the playoffs, always has. He’s been to 2 super bowls in 15 years. The first 1 he only went to because the defense literally carried his god-awful play. Go rewatch the games or even look at the stats. That was by far the worst string of playoff performance by any QB in the history of the NFL.

He’s 36 now coming off of 4 neck surgeries in 2 years. If he comes to the Broncos he is going to want to bring his old team with him. Clark (old and always injured), Saturday (old and always injured), Wayne (clearly slowed down last year). If we do that we are going to blow our entire FA load on 4 over the hill players.

Sure we may be contenders for 2 or 3 years IF Manning doesn’t get hurt again (he likely will). That isn’t a Super Bowl team though. We still will have no defense and we will have a horribly old and banged up offense.

Then after that we will be set back another 5 – 7 years as we try to rebuild AGAIN.

sounds like kerry hacked Troglo’s account..

Stokley is done as a player but he could be good to have around these young receivers, teach them a thing or two.

Reggie Wayne would do more than enough when it comes to work ethic and what not. And he is still a great possession reciever

Just saying it’s a possibility, not saying they will or want to. Geesh.

The defense!!!! are you kidding there the ones that won all of the games we won last year. Couple more adjustments theyll be one of the best in the league.

I’m just tired of all the turnover. I want to have a def coord two years in a row. I want to have a QB that is going to be around more than 2 years. I want to see us build a team through the draft and bring in young guys that we can get to gel together.

It felt like we were on the right track but this just seems to be steering us off course. Hopefully I’m wrong and just being melodramatic because I’m sick haha.
