The Denver Broncos lost both running backs Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno in the opening minutes of Sunday’s 17-10 victory in Kansas City, but that didn’t stop Lance Ball and Tim Tebow from combining for 139 rushing yards anyway.

Moreno suffered a “mild knee sprain”, ProFootballTalk reports, while no update is yet available on McGahee, who suffered a hamstring injury. Moreno was carted off the field while McGahee stayed on the sideline most of the game, so it’s possible these Broncos will be ready sooner rather than later.

But will “sooner” be soon enough? The Broncos face the New York Jets in four days on Thursday night. Let’s hope these injuries are mild indeed.

We need McGahee back.  It’s going to be much tougher to run against the Jets.  We need everything we have.

To Go into Arrowhead and get a win is huge! ; The same for last week in Oakland!

We were 1-4, and now the whole conference is tied.

Would it be fair to say that we shocked Oakland and K.C. in their home stadiums, or Miami for that matter?

We were picked to lose all of those games.  What if we shock the Jets?

What if we shock every team from now on and end up 12-4?

What if we beat Pittsburgh in the Playoffs, and faced the defending Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers?

    What if we beat them?

    It would be Déjà vu’.

It would be the same thing that the Denver Broncos did in 1997.

    I mean 11-5 . . . got to excited . . . sorry

  • crazykid

except the Broncos started 7-0 before losing at Oakland in ’97… but that would be a historic situation either way.

Who gives a crap? He’s nice and all, but McGahee is the steak on this plate…

  • Johnsmith

how is ryan clady? left in the 3rd i think and Chris Clark was filling in for him… will he be available for thursday night?

I’d rather have Clady back healthy than either of the RBs.

i want them both back.  the option is actually a good spot for moreno to play- if you use him as the pitch man.  it puts him out in space if he gets the ball, and he doesnt have to make it through the dline.  once he has a little room, he’s a pretty good runner.  keep letting mcghee take the dive plays up the middle.

Don’t forget that we already played Green Bay and they slaughtered us. If there is one team I don’t want to see again, it would be that one.

What if my aunt had balls?

Apparently “mild knee sprain” is code for “torn ACL.”

Knowsh is done for the year.

    Next up: Jeremiah Johnson

    you’d be a guy.

Playing without running backs Marino and McGahee will make the Broncos
offensive and defensive lines all the more united and determined to win.
They know well the chips are down, and a win on Thursday will put them
    on top.

Okay, I agree, Not that i am saying they would not beat Denver. But, Denver is not the same team as before. Changes have been huge. Denver has 4 defensive starters back. No orton, the int machine. Watch GB, soooo many of their points are scored on Defense. How can they pick 6 if we do not throw the ball? Not that Rogers is not the man, but, what if the man is NOT on the field? You pound out 275yards rushing, and Denver has a fresh Defense, well lets just say it is NOT 38 to 10.

  • Tailgatrz

Kicking it old school, It is a team effort. And in this case, this is more true than ever. The Broncos ARE playing as a team. One guy goes down, another picks it up. Everyone doing the job, and contributes. The biggest slacker right now is Prater? I cannot pick one guy and say that is key. It is just that it seems that Tbow brings out the best of everyone.

It’s nice to see all the positiveness being expressed, but in being somewhat real about our team, the teams we are beating are NOT in the Jets category of good teams. IF we somehow beat the Jets then that puts Denver in an obviously different category. A disappointing fact with this team is that home field advantage seems not to be a factor. This team hasn’t yet
acquired the confidence to say ‘ This is OUR town, OUR field, and no one beats us here ! Except for our Denver fan base, I’d rather see this team play in New York.  Jim in Massachusetts.

i think we should trade moreno for someone good because he is always injured
