When the Denver Broncos return home to face the Detroit Lions on Sunday, the team will be without starting running back Willis McGahee, who has a fractured hand.

McGahee will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair a fractured fourth metacarpal in his right hand, reports Mike Klis of the Denver Post.  McGahee would like to be back for the team’s Week Nine game in Oakland against the Raiders, but it’s unlikely that he’ll be back on the field by then.

The Broncos are hoping to have McGahee back in time for the team’s Week Ten match against the Kansas City Chiefs.  While McGahee is out, third year running back Knowshon Moreno will be the starter (fantasy football sleeper alert: If Moreno is available, pick him up).

Third year back Lance Ball should also see an increase in his workload, and it is expected that the team will activate Jeremiah Johnson off of the practice squad.

The team’s rushing attack just took a big hit.  McGahee was on pace to have well over 1,000 rushing yards this season.  Now is the time for Moreno to step up and shine.  Do you think he will?

Great, now the Tebow ball sweat lickers’ will have another excuse when he plays like garbage.

Dude I don’t think anybody is arguing that he played like crap for the first 55 minutes… But you can’t deny that he was on fire in the last five minutes.

I’ll give him some credit, he did lead a great comeback but Miami did go into a prevent allowing him to complete passes underneath which every completion he had was except for the pass down at the end-zone. There was also the miracle of the onside kick which is a 1:5 probability; let’s not forget this also came against arguably the worst team in the league. A real team would have been up by 30 at that point.

Here’s the thing about Tebow, he showed the people that are down on him as a QB nothing to change our opinion on him by his awful performance, but at the same time he did nothing to change the opinion of the Tebow ball sweat lickers by leading a comeback W.

Okay, in all honesty Tebow didn’t prove anything other that he can win this last game. HOWEVER, if he can thread the ball to fells between three d backs in the last five minutes, he can do it in the first quarter too. He has consistency struggles that have been the subject of many rants; however, denying that he has the poise, intangibles, and arm strength is the thing of fools. You guys forget that he had a bye week, skimmed down thanks to the players union, to prep against #1s for the first time in a year. I’m not putting him on a pedestal but the kid is in his infancy when it comes to playing against a #1 defense, consistency will come. I don’t believe you can teach TIMING which Timmy seems to have at any level of competition. And winning cures coach issues and mechanics… eventually Fox will give into job security and take the win where/however he can get it. Lastly, Elway isn’t the stuck up jerk that, for some reason, everyone keeps making him out to be.

Ok… I’m really sick of people saying these things.  There has never been a question of whether or not Tebow’s “ride” as a QB was going to be bumpy and different.  Ask any Florida Gator fan and they’ll tell you the same thing.  It’s his religion that creates 60% of the hate against him. But I’m not going to go there, I’m just going to talk about football.

To say that Miami went in to a prevent is accurate, but at the same time you can not say that the offensive line showed up at all in the first 3 quarters.  Orlando Franklin was getting beat all day.  Next to that, Mike McCoy doesn’t give Tebow enough credit in knowing the offense.  He heavily favored the run, even after McGahee got hurt – going about 1:4 in the run:pass ratio, not calling a deep route until the end of the third quarter.

I have no doubt in my mind that Tebow can become a good (maybe not elite) QB in the league, but he needs an offense designed around him and the way that he plays.  ALL freaking game long I was screaming at the TV because every time Tebow handed the ball off he just stopped and watched.  With him being such a running threat, the play-action bootleg was made for him.  Not only would you have to stay at home defensively but you wouldn’t be able to blitz the corner or have such an aggressive rush off the edge.  You then essentially have three options to consider defensively.  Running back, Running quarterback, or passing quarterback.  With Tebow that would be SO dangerous!

That’s the same way that Plummer became so efficient in our offense.  But the difference there is that Shannahan changed his offense to fit that style.  John Fox designed his offense for a Kyle Orton, Kevin Klob, Matt Ryan style offense.

To say that Tebow will be the greatest is just dumb.  But to say that he’s a bust isn’t fair.  The most accurate description for him is: a work in progress.

Once he gets used to the speed of the game, and can start recognizing coverages and blitz packages, your going to see him play and act like he did for the Gators the year he won the National Championships.  But you have to give him time to grew up into that.  He’s only started 4 games… three of which where in an entirely differnt offense, on top of a lockout this year.

No he’s not a passing QB.  No, he’s not a Tom Brady/Peyton Manning/John Elway prototype.  Yes, there is still work to be done. Yes, he still needs to learn.

But seriously dude, give the kid a chance.

Anyways this post was about Willis & Moreno and to answer Jon’s question, I think he will do fine but I bet they don’t run him up the gut against the Lions too often.

    Tebow proved EVERYONE right!

Without Willis, I can see a lot of swing passes and screens.

But I’d also imagine they test Alphonso Smith with a deep pass somewhere between the national anthem and the coin toss.

Moreno just cant run between the tackles. they need to use Lance Ball for that. i think Ball has proved that he can step in in that context of the game. if they want to use moreno they should pull the lineman frequently, especially to clady’s side. the more blockers moreno has out in front of him the better he will run. he just has learn how to follow his blockers through the hole. Tebow should be able to pick up the yardage where moreno and ball cant(i.e. 3rd and 2 or 1).

Hey Jon, please write an article about Louis Wright and Karl Mecklenburg so we can talk some more about our quarterback!

  • Lookn4H2O

He made the plays Kyle couldn’t make if his life depended on it.And would say indy is a far worse team along with the rams. This was his 4th start he needs alot more expierence and I believe he will get better.
