Tim Tebow

It all remarkably came together in the end.

For over three quarters Sunday, there weren’t enough critical phrases or four-letter words in the English language to describe the putridity that was the Denver Broncos offense. Tim Tebow was 3 for 10 passing. The offense was 0 for 9 in third down attempts, and Tebow had been sacked six times. Matt Prater had missed two field goals, and the Broncos were dangerously close to suffering their first shutout loss in nearly two decades.

But then Tebow and company pulled it together. With less than four minutes to play, down 15-0, Tebow took to the air, delivering two touchdown drives off two touchdown passes and forcing overtime. Then, on the third possession of overtime, D.J. Williams‘ strip-sack of Dolphins QB Matt Moore gave Prater an opportunity for 52-yard redemption, which he successfully converted. The Broncos won 18-15.

It was the second win of the Broncos’ 2-4 season, while the Dolphins moved to 0-6.

Did Tebow do enough in the game’s final minutes to give you confidence he should continue to start? What can the Broncos do to make sure they get that level of production from him for four quarters? We have a lot of topics to debate and discuss, Broncos fans, but soak up something we haven’t felt much of in the past two years: a Broncos win.

Even the run and shoot can be run in the NFL, with the right players.  The Falcons had a few years of success with it, but they did not have the defense needed to play competitive ball.  They scored enough points to win, but their defense allowed even more.  lol.

    A “W” is a “W”.

Sure I do, and so does his statistics.  Go look at his TD:INT ratio from his first 5 years.  And my memories of him are clouded because I was a huge fan of his.  As we age, our memories of our favorites tend to become more and more rosy, even though the facts don’t back up those memories.  But Elway was spotty his first 5 seasons.

And how old are you?  I’m 39, so I watched many of his games, live.

I am not sure that is the best point you can make jd

Got to play the team that is on the schedule.  Take them one at a time.

LD, I respect your point of view but I really don’t care about streaks.  I think most of us care about wins, building a team for the future and maybe earning a playoff spot sometime while we are still alive. If a record or streak bites the dust as a result of evaulating talent for the future, so be it. No one will remember it next season anyway.  I didn’t even realize it this season.

I am going to check out Moncler’s products and I will let you know.  He seems genuine to me.  Obvious bronco fan.

It’s all about offensive rhythm, and if you want Tebow to be more accurate then he needs to feel the flow of the game.

Throwing the ball 6 times in a half is not establishing an offensive rhythm.

That being said, yes he was terribly erratic, but only more throws will make that better.

    That’s scary.

Are you going to call more pass plays if you are unsure about the abilities of your QB?

  • Anonymous

He should being throwing tons in practice then.

In other words nobody uses the run-&-shoot because it doesn’t work consistantly.

You mean the point that being a “winner” in college doesn’t mean much in the NFL?  Didn’t Cutler take the Bears to the NFC title game last year? And where is Leinart on the Texans’ depth chart?  Like Cutler or not he proved to be a better QB than both “winners” Young and Leinart. Where is that other “winner” Jamarcus Russell playing?

Translation;  I became a fan when the Broncos got to a Super Bowl.
Jamarcus Russell had loads of potential too.

Like the experts who said Elway was going to be great?

Showing up for the last five minutes of the game doesn’t cut it.  Is that too difficult for you to grasp?  It is really pathetic when you Tebow fans babble on about how Orton sucks and now it is the play calling and game plan that sucks.

  • Anonymous

Old enough to remember listening to the announcers calling Floyd Little’s name on the radio because the games were blacked out.

And Elway was 13-3 his second year and in the play-offs.  Two years later the Super Bowl.  And people still wanted to trade Elway.

The funny thing is that when Orton was under center he was crap, the sole reason the Broncos ever lost a game.  Now everyone else is crap except for Tebow.

  • Anonymous

He didn’t throw an int because he never got the ball close enough to another human to be catch-able.

He didn’t have time under center? How much time does he need?

  • Anonymous

Selective perception.  The Tebow disciples seem to be particularly prone to it.

  • King

Not what was said.  Go back and read my previous post slowly.

  • King

All the experts didn’t say he was going to be great.  But they sure jumped on that bandwagon later.
