Denver Broncos running back Willis McGahee yesterday:

“We’ve got to bring back the ‘Salute,'” McGahee said, referring to the Broncos infamous post-TD celebration. “We have to represent for the running backs, Terrell Davis and those boys. When those guys were there we knew Denver was coming in and running the ball. That’s got to be our mindset – running the ball against whoever, whenever, whatever they put up. We’re ready.”

Yes please.

    Love it

I read that this morning, and was hoping you would be posting it.  Wasn’t crazy about the signing when it happened, but statements like that sure go a long way to easing my mind.

I’ve totally bought into McGahee, he wanted to come to Denver and is a beast in the red zone. Can’t wait until Monday!

One thing that has been missing with recent Bronco teams is the connection to our winning heritage.  The “Mile High Salute” was a nationally known phenomenon that is synonymous with Denver and our team.

Now that we have the additional connection to our winning ways in John Elway, it is time to bring it back to the players on the field.  If McGahee truly brings the salute back to Mile High, he will have the respect and gratitude of thousands of fans, including this one.

The Mile High Salute is a bond of respect and togetherness between the fans and the effort of the players on the field…a bond that has been missing for far too long.  Welcome back and thanks to Willis McGahee.

Willis McGahee has the right mind set that the Broncos need and plays physical!  I’m down with that and after having seen him score 3 TDs in preseason I welcome him aboard!

its really awsome that McGagee loves this city and this tema so much that he wants to bring back such a tradition. I’ve wished we never got rid of the salute in the first place.  It’s great that he considers himself one of us.

I guess I am too old school.  I think we should just concentrate on getting into the end zone and maybe improving on a 4 win season before they worry about how to celebrate.  TD knew a thing or two about getting there. When we start winning 9 or ten games they can run nude through stadium and salute all they want and I want mind a bit.

I really never understood why this ever stopped in the first place???
