Denver Broncos first round draft pick Von Miller is the odds-on favorite to win the 2011 NFL Defensive Rookie of they Year award, says linesmaker Bodog.com. The 2nd overall pick of the draft has been given 11/2 odds to win the award.

Following Miller are Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson with 6/1 odds, Bills DT Marcel Dareus with 15/2 odds, and Lions DT Nick Fairley with 15/2 odds.

Rounding out the Top 5 is another Bronco, S Rahim Moore, with 10/1 odds.

The DROY award typically goes to a linebacker, and Miller was the first defensive player taken, so the odds do make sense. (Plus, have you seen Miller in the Preseason?!)

Two Broncos are among the most likely to make a big defensive impact in 2011. Just what the doctor ordered.

Has anyone heard news of Patrick Peterson? I wanted us to pick him REAL bad, but I'm pleased with the Vonster. He looks like a real stud

Is it me, or does this team look like a team that could go from a 4-12 team to a playoff contender again? I think it is very realistic given that the players have actually been able to buy into what the coach is selling. Even with the drama surrounding the franchise that you see in the media, it seems like they are focused, for the most part. The team just had the worst season in franchise history, and I'm sure it's eating at them, but in a good way, Like they feel like they don't need to see improvement, they don't need to “rebuild” but they need to win and I think the rookies they picked look to really help. I think a lot of people will be shocked with how well they do this year.

Michael Lombardi sure doesn't think so…

I listened to all the BS all offseason about how bad the Broncos were and how we were going to be 2-14 or 4-12.  Now I turn on ESPN or NFL Network and there are rumblings that the Broncos are “greatly improved” and might go 8-8 and “might surprise everyone and finish #2 behind the Chargers” in the division.  Just goes to show you that people have no idea what they are talking about.  Let them keep talking about Vick, Newton, Manning(s)… We'll gladly punch people in the mouth on our way to the top and show the naysayers just how wrong they can be.

Yeah, how many years was it within this last decade that the Chargers were said to be a great team, that will go likely to Super Bowl? I don't care how many top ten guys some guy whom gets paid to rank in some article a team has. I'm sure Brandon Lloyd ranks on somebody's top ten for receivers, and I wonder how many would have thought that imaginable a few years ago? Sometimes, the piece just has to find the right puzzle and the puzzle has to find the right pieces. The right pieces aren't always what some sportswriter thinks it is.
