Not too long ago John Fox said that there was no clear starter yet, clearly that has changed. According the Denver Post, John Fox stated:

“It’s a group of three that are very capable. Right now Kyle Orton is our starter. We have a young guy, high draft pick, in Tim Tebow who got his feet wet last year towards the end of the season. And then shoot, Brady Quinn I’m looking forward to seeing.”

Apparently everyone will get a chance to compete, but Kyle Orton is number one on the depth chart. Most fans right now are hoping that this is just upping Orton’s trade value. This also doesn’t do well to the rumors that Tim Tebow is without support in Denver.

More details to come.

  • Cyberspread

I want Tebow to start. In 2012 or 2013. Not this year!!!

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

When did Fox say there was no clear starter?

  • Kanye West

I'm real happy for you Kyle. I'm going to let you finish.

…but Tim had one of the best comebacks of all time!

  • NMBronc

John Fox is officially a *&^$%# idiot, if this is anything other than boosting trade value. If he is serious, Fire him.

  • areferee

We are making way too much of this. Any smart coach makes no changes in the status quo in February, especially when you are new and have not seen your team play and practice with your own experienced eyes.

John Fox is a smart man and quickly learned two things since coming to Denver. First, he recognizes that Tim Tebow thrives on being seen as an underdog and works his hardest to achieve a lofty goal. Secondly, he sees that Kyle Orton needs support, as a veteran and as a starter.

Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING Fox said in his press conference precludes ultimately choosing ANYONE as our starting QB, or trading anyone, for that matter.

If the media was pressing him on the running backs or offensive linemen, or any other position, he would have taken the same stance. The starters are the starters until someone else takes their job away from them. This is an age-old axiom for any coach that isn't accustomed to sticking his foot in his mouth…if you know who I mean.

All options are still on the table for developing this team, and we a whipping a horse that is not ready to be ridden. But that's our job. Right?

Relax. Let's concentrate on the combine and the draft and who we think will better come in here and lead us to the “Promise land”. For me, that's interesting enough. All the rest is made up!

  • Cyberspread

He did make the game exciting (even though we had nothing to lose or gain). If we have the right pieces in place then Kyle can win some games and we will stop bashing him. Its not just about the QB. Tebow won 1 out of 3 games. Not enough to claim the starting position IMO.

Question: If Orton does start and we make the playoffs based on the new scheme brought in by Fox, will people stop calling for Tebow?

  • Bab

It's a trick. Nobody is looking forward to seeing brady quinn!

  • Cyberspread

LOL!!! Your right about that! Ha!

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

    Hahahaha

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

WHY?? How was Tim Tebow so much CLEARLY better than Kyle Orton????

  • MrEast

Earlier on he said that he would have to evaluate everyone and that Tebow isn't the guaranteed starter.

Hmmm, last time this was brought I said something like “Tebow is a bad NFL QB and will never turn into an even average QB.” I got destroyed by everyone, got told I was an idiot and knew nothing about football or the importance of leadership. Glad a respected NFL head coach and a Hall of Fame QB agree with me.

I say we take a hard look at the qbs in this draft with the 2nd pick. Cam looks like a monster. If we can get a third for tebow or a second I would jump on it. Let's get real here. Tebow looks ok but ok at the qb spot will look like Kyle orton. This is a qb league. If Elway and the rest of the gang think cam or the qb from the big ten have the goods we have to make the move. I know the staff won't need to spend time teaching cam how to throw a ball. A lot of people will say oh tebow is a winner. Did you see what cam did last year? At auburn! But if we keep tebow I would start him. Can't take anymore Kyle in the fourth quarter when we need to pull out games. Just saying

Who wants to bet that the Broncos are saying that to increace Kyle Orton trade value??? I bet $20.

  • mikebirty

You think the shuttle was launched by rocket fuel? nah, that was just the fire that Foxy has just lit under Tebow's ass

  • robtink242

people get so caught up in words.. last time i check Kyle Orton stinks.. You can cover up sh*t but it eventually stinks. With that said nothing is a given to Tim Tebow and thats right.. He needs to work his but off triple times his rookie year.. Make himself the clear cut choice.. As for that #2 overall pick Bowers all the way.. I remember what happen to us when we drafted a one year star last (Robert Ayers). LETS GO BRONCOS

  • roshon2411

1-2 is better than 3-9… I don't care if it's Tebow, Quinn, or some rookie…If the Broncos can trade Orton for a can of Spam…then do it, he's horrible.

  • kerry

Bowers is a one hit wonder. totally. Marcel Dareus is who im hoping for. a dominant DT would be a great start to this new team.

  • lookn4H2O

I have to agree with Kerry everything i have read says he is the best DT in the draft.

  • The Mascot Army

I always wonder if Cam Newton has his buddies go around on message boards to pump up his value-There was a guy on the Gators boards who did it too when Newton was an inaccurate backup. It just seems so forced and unnatural.

  • NMBronc

Don't ass-ume Kyle, I did not mention Tebow. And what has Kyle “screams like a little girl and collapses in the pocket” Orton done to be mentioned as starter? Kyle sucks, not you, him. He starts, we go no where next season.

  • 5280

i totally agree with areferee. some of have your head stuck so far up ur ass its not even funny. michael land NOBODY, head coach, vp or not, agrees with you. where did you get that they agree with you on tim tebow? all he said is that for right now(feburary for god sakes!) kyle orton is the starter and he even said that that could change after the evaluation process. so where did you get that elway and fox think tebow straight sucks, like you think. maybe you cant read. Mr. east, I'm sorry but why did you even write this? nothing said at this press conference suggests that neither the head coach nor the VP doesnt like tebow. What did you expect him to say? that their gonna trade kyle orton cuz he sucks and tim tebow id the god of all QB's? yall need to get ur head out ur asses. ITS FEBURARY!!! nothing said by the coach or the VP is gonna mean shit right now. wait til september. mr. east sound like he's just tryin to ruffle feathers. how do you know what “most” fans want? i for one want orton to stay because, while he isnt a leader with a vast margin of athletisism, he's a vet and he did pretty well last year statisticly. we need that around tebow to help him grow. what makes you think theyll get anything for him anyway. if he sucks so much why do you think other team will pay anything higher then a 4th for him? c'mon how stupid! on one hand he sucks more then any QB in the league, but on the other denver can get a 2nd rounder for him? make up your mind guys. i think we should just watch the combine and enjoy evaluating the talent coming out of college this year. nuff said!

  • anthony33

    Very well said areferee!!!

  • anthony33

Don't disagree with Dareus, but would also welcome Peterson or Miller.

  • anthony33

Robert Quinn is also moving up the list fast… Mayock now has him as a top 5 pick and says he's the best of the DT/DE's.

  • MrEast

I don't create the news, I report it… well blog it.

I never once said that “the head coach nor the VP doesnt like tebow.” Instead, I accurately stated that there are rumors that Tebow doesn't have support in Denver. The keyword in that previous sentence is 'rumors'.

I'm not trying to “ruffle feathers”, I'm merely reporting on something deserving enough for a post.

  • TheTroglodyte

    Ouga Ouga!

  • TheTroglodyte

lol you must run track because that is one hell of a jump. Don't ever take your glasses off bud because those aren't actually roses your surrounded by.

  • TheTroglodyte

Damnit Mr. East we all know what kind of pull and clout you have in Denver and if you don't put a stop to this non-sense you might actually get Tebow put on the chopping block! lol ;)

  • Pixi61

Why don't they just trade Tebow then and give him a chace someplace else and end all this drama? I'm sure the Vikings would take him in a heartbeat!

  • Pixi61

Or ton doesn't stink, exactly, but if Elway and Fox are serious about having a decent team this fall, they need to weed out the guys who haven't been putting out their best. Broncos actually showed some spark toasted the end of the season when Orton was out and Tebow was in. Maybe a shake up is what this team needs! You don't keep the same sorry players in, that's why they fired McDanields. Fresh meat, new perspective! Sure Tebow is young, but so was Dan Marino. Gotta give the kid a chance to see what he can do and put your religious views and hatred behind you.

  • 12508

I agree with pixi. Trade Tebow before we look worse with the pick. If the Vikings want him they can have him. Im sure some Tebow fans would ask for Peterson in return. I would trade him for a John 3:16 poster straight up.

  • 12508

Prayers dont win games. Steroids do!!! Get someone in here with some connections.

  • Elmo

I think they should trade him to Miami or Jacksonville, and when he becomes another Steve Young in a year or two by then Fox will be gone.
