Champ Bailey

  • The Denver Broncos and cornerback Champ Bailey are deep in negotiations over a four-year contract extension.
  • Ryan Clady vs. Aaron Kampman isn’t just a marquee battle between high-profile trenchmen: it’s The Battle of the Surgically-Repaired Knees.
  • Remember Jay Cutler?  Don’t care to?  OK, well move along.  But he expounded on the now-17-months-old drama between he and Josh McDaniels, saying, “I just didn’t feel I could trust Josh.”
  • (Quick aside: most of you know we’ve been Jay Cutler supporters around these parts, but his lack of tact is just sickening. No matter how you felt or what happened, show some damn respect — his name is Coach Effing McDaniels.)
  • The Onion previews the 2010 season the way only The Onion can.
  • Meanwhile, The New York Times breaks down opening weekend, talking — what else? — Tim Tebow for the Broncos-Jaguars tilt.
  • Is Tebow edging Brady Quinn for the activated #2 quarterback spot?  In a lot of ways, it makes sense.
  • Akin Ayodele has landed in Buffalo.
  • The Jaguars’ future in Florida is in full-blown survival mode.
  • Bonus power ranking: National Football Post puts Broncos at 23.
  • The Raiders released former Broncos tackle Erik Pears.
  • WR Vincent Jackson had a deal worked out with another club, but the Chargers put a kibosh on the trade.
  • Wild day for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady: from car wreck to cash-in.

The Cutler Story: (How to get it buried!)

    By word association:

    Cutler-Butler-maid-shade-tree-aspen-Vail-snow-ski-avalanche-buried-dead!

(If you cut through all the writing in the middle, you can go straight from Cutler to dead and buried.)

Cutler is gone, done deal. Problem is we still have this punk-POS coach who has yet to prove himself. I like nothing about this coach, from the way he handled that situation to the way he still conducts himself.

    NMBronc,

McD has made a bunch of mistakes, but he has also done a ton of good too. For example, I like his paying in veterens to improve our DL instead of crap shooting those positions in the draft. I like his forced conversion of smaller defensive ends to OLB in the 3-4. I like what he is doing with the OL. I like what he is doing at QB…Orten is looking way better in the system in year 2 with Tebow hot on his tail. I like what he is doing with the OL averaging 24 yrs old and over 300 pounds. I love what he has done with our receving corp that is now one of the deepest in the NFL. I like what he has done making our receiving corp one of the deepest in the NFL. I love what he has done strengthening our special teams with improved kicking, coverage, and returns. He is young and he will learn to handle himself better, but next to the Saint's Sean Payton, I would argue that McD is the 2nd best young coach in the league. This team is better…Enjoy the games.

I hope to enjoy the games and I hope that they win.

McD is going to make mistakes, but he acts like he is Belicheck. A proven verteran coach. I also realize that at Press conferences he speaks as if he is speaking directly to the media, but he is speaking to us through them. And all I have hear is F U, I am better than you go away, don't you people know I am the man.

Obviously, I hope he becomes the winningest coach in Broncos history, but right now. I just don't like the guy.

The veteran fix on the D-Line? Been there done that with Shanny. Did not like the results then, have not seen anything to change my mind now. The D-line looks like it's soft up the gut. Again. We having a starting NT with bad knees and no pass rusher that teams need to game plan against. The O-line looks confused and seems to regress as the season wears on. Remember two years ago when we had the 2 best tackles in football? Now both are out with injury. Harris looks injury prone and who knows what we'll get from Clady when he's back.

McD has had a ton of 1-3 round draft picks and has done very little (so far) to improve the D-line or O-line. He has used those picks primarily on skill players (QB, RB, WR). Mark my words: Ignoring the lines will cost the Broncos games this year and next and eventually his job.

if you think you know sports, bet here for free. It's pretty damn cool.

BTW Still wish we had Cuts and Shanny but I believe in McX. If they get the time and a little luck, we're going to be good again.
