  • Bruised ribs is the unsurprising diagnosis for Tim Tebow, who suffered the injury during Sunday’s last play on a helmet-first tackle from Bengals linebacker Abdul Hodge.  His availability for Saturday’s preseason game is unknown.
  • Tebow’s feet may be his X-factor, but the rookie still needs to master pocket passing to keep defenses honest. And to stay healthy.
  • Wednesday practice report: “Having (Jarvis Moss) back there was big,” Mario Haggan said. “It was definitely the biggest difference in the two-minute drive.”
  • Woody Paige says it was a mistake for the Broncos not to go after Brian Westbrook, who just signed with the 49ers. Presuming he’s healthy, we agree.
  • The Broncos may get Knowshon Moreno back next week.  Correll Buckhalter may still return this week.
  • Pro touchdowns are few and far between for the current crop of Broncos’ receivers.
  • Life without Marshall ain’t so bad through one preseason game.
  • Looking at some potential roster bubble surprises.
  • Marcus McNeill met with Chargers brass, although no headway on a contract appeared to be made.

    Regarding Westbrook: McD and the X-Man are just as open to fan critiques as are the players. Not only for the decisions they make, but for the decisions they don't.

    In this case, I believe their youth and inexperience have worked against them. Their abundant egos would never admit it, but not every decision they have made, (or were too timid to make), was “in the best interest of the team”, their stated goal.

    When given the choice between Brian Westbrook and LenDale White, they blew the call as clearly as Ed Hochuli. I'm a Bronco fan, but they made mistakes in their “rookie” season just like the players, and their sophomore season is off to a questionable start, as well.

    They're well paid to “be in the kitchen”, so they will have to learn to take the heat. More of the media needs to press them on their decisions instead of standing in line for autographs.

    i can see your point on wanting westbrook. i kinda did too. i dont think that the staff blew it as bad as you did. i am sure that they figure to have their first and second string backs for the regular season. i dont think that at his age and health status that westbrook brings anything that buck and knomo dont already bring us (other than a few years of experience). white brings a power dimension that both our guys, as well as westbrook, lack. sure westbrook can catch balls out of the backfield on 3rd and one but he cant break through the line like white can.

    even if westbrook has a probowl year, i dont think we can say that their second season is off to a questionable start for not signing him. look at what they did to bolster the defensive front. they got doom in to a long term contract. they have great depth at wr through the draft. they are doing a lot of good things imo. remember it takes two to get a deal done… maybe westbrook didnt want to come in here and battle for third string.

    Okay Ty Warren is out for the season… Should McD give it a shot and trade for him… i can se us Trading Green (exp. with Pats), Alphonso Smith(getting rid of the ship before it sinks) and a draft pick?

    I hope we could get rid of Quinn some how.. maybe to KC seeing thats there boy.. As for Westbroke he'll only hinder Knomo, Buck is the change of pace, White is the power. Just dont see him fitting in… What are we doing with all the wideouts… did we just sign those two wideouts to keep Willis/Lloyd/Stokley competetive spirit seeing that Decker and Thomas were injured… Who bringing the pressure on D?

    Final question where the hell is Terry???

    All good points. I don't disagree with most.

    The Westbrook decision is just one of many that might be questioned by the media. If Moreno and Buck were healthy, Westbrook would not be an issue. I question signing White and Fargas rather than Brian. Letting J.J. Arrington and Kolby Smith go so early would be another.

    I think that the coach and GM (and even ownership) should be scrutinized just as much as the players. That's all. Certainly Shanahan got his share. The mainstream Denver sports media needs to toughen up a little, besides Woody.

    So with are two starting RB's out you want to bring in a guy who has never played a full 16 games in his career, missed most of last year, and if he has one more concussion will be kicked out of the league for his own safety?
