How bad is the Denver Broncos current situation at running back?

I’m not sure, but you be the judge based on the fact that the Broncos are bringing in former Washington Redskins running back Ladell Betts tomorrow, according to NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora.

KDVR Fox 31’s Josina Anderson is citing sources close to the Broncos stating that Betts is in demand at the moment and is scheduled to fly to New Orleans for a workout with the Saints immediately after seeing the Broncos tomorrow.

Betts has spelled former Broncos running back Clinton Portis most of his career.  Last year he gained only 210 yards on 56 carries before suffering an  injury in November.

Betts’ best season came in 2006 when he rushed 245 times for 1,154 yards, with 53 receptions for 445 yards. He hadn’t rushed more than a 100 times prior and hasn’t since the 2006 season.

After KM, CB getting hurt and Arrington not working out… again… I was hoping we would be looking for some quality help there, but is there just none left to choose from? If this is the best that we can bring in maybe… Betts has been pretty good at times though so maybe he is ready to come back from his injury. Of course I was holding out hope we'd get Mike Bell back after NO let him go… Oh well :-).

A lot of Brian Westbrook rumors, but I'm amongst those who are feeling that he may be waiting for training camp to get a little further under way.

    bring back Hillis!

Probably just extra cannon fodder for training camp, someone to take a few reps.

Feels like Tebow is off to a very slow start.
Moss seems to be rejuvinated, will it last?
    Not hearing much about Ayers.
Decker and Willis seem to be making noise.

Of course, way too early to tell anything. Can't wait for the mile high scrimmage.

I've heard that Ayers has been pretty dominate in some drills at practice and that he's working extremely hard.

That's what I've got as well, Ayers is doing well. Moss seems to be the one that may be on the bubble.

I would like to see the Broncos sign a player like J. Snelling from Atlanta with all the running backs that are hurt. Snelling has been productive when given the chance but is buried in Atlanta….
