It was a day of shouting, a day of cursing, and for the offense, a day of running laps late in practice as the Denver Broncos wrapped up Day Two of their 2010 training camp Monday.

“False start, not enough in the huddle,” Head Coach Josh McDaniels told reporters after practice when asked why he ordered the entire offense to run laps. “Sloppy.”

You could hear the coach’s frustrations throughout the entire practice. If they were mid-game, he might have been asking if they were going to “win a mother-****ing” one.

McDaniels was very vocal and hands-on with both the offense and defense Monday.

“It was better early, but then faded late,” McDaniels said. “We’re just focusing on trying to put together two hours of good football.”

While the tone and offensive punishment put a damper on an already cloudy day, the good news is that the Broncos escaped Monday’s practice injury-free, and ready for double duty Tuesday.

None of the quarterbacks had a particularly enthralling performance today. Kyle Orton performed strongest again, but had a stretch where he and his receivers were out of sync. He’d expect Brandon Lloyd to continue deep on his route, but the veteran receiver would cut inside right after the ball left Orton’s hand. Two short passes bounced off defenders’ hands in team drills — sure interceptions against the NFL’s bests in game situations. He also overthrew Eric Decker twice, although the rookie nearly hauled in one of them with a last second burst and some one-armed acrobatics.

Tim Tebow continued to show some rookie struggles, but had good energy and showed some improvisation. He was off-target when he dropped back, and if he wasn’t holding onto the ball too long he was tucking it under his arm and scrambling. He did show some on-the-move accuracy with one improvised rollout toss for a 10-yard sideline completion, and a shovel pass to Kolby Smith with defenders in pursuit got the crowd excited.

It’s nothing unexpected from the rookie, and it’s only the second practice; plenty of time to improve.

Wide receiver Matthew Willis shined again, although to a lesser degree than yesterday. One Tebow throw fell short, but the second-year Bronco came back, reached over CB Perrish Cox, and made a very impressive grab. Catch of the day.

The offensive line struggled again, particularly at left tackle and left guard (Tyler Polumbus and Zane Beadles respectively). Polumbus got pushed around by Ryan McBean every time the two squared off, and Beadles struggled with his assignments in run blocking, allowing a defender through to blow up the play a couple of times.

Despite all of these struggles, though, the Broncos were in good spirits as they left Monday’s practice. Every blown assignment and busted play is a learning opportunity, and the players seem to embrace that mentality.

“That’s just part of camp, part of what goes on,” Brandon Stokley said. “I think it’ll make us realize we better start doing things the right way.”

The Broncos better get it together… Even in bad years their second day has seemed more productive than this.

It's a new season and an objective Ian =P

Hey Kyle…does your last name start with an “O”? Are you pulling double-duty here? Another great job on getting us close to the action here in camp. Keep up the good work.
