Broncos select OL Zane Beadles in 2nd round

The Denver Broncos continue their offensive focus in the 2010 NFL Draft, selecting offensive lineman Zane Beadles with the 45th overall pick Friday.

Beadles (6’4″, 310 lbs.) hails from Utah, where he played guard as a freshman in 2006 but moved to left tackle thereafter through his senior year. Pro scouts project him to move back inside at guard at the pro level, which would fill one of the Broncos’ biggest needs heading into this weekend’s draft.

As a tackle, Beadles was named first-team All-American in 2009 by the Football Writers Association of America. He started in 50 games as a four-year starter for the Utes.

A big, young, physical offensive lineman to fill this hollow interior o-line is just what the doctor ordered. On paper, Beadles is a good fit. Check back for a full scouting report to come.

So far, I think this draft is an A+, and I was one of the biggest “Don't draft Tebow” guys.
I must say, McDaniels is doing a fantastic job. Look for Center and LB in the 3rd.

i agree wit pete i hated tebow at first. the only prob is Josh Mcd just got way more drama right after he traded it

We have a faster version of Marshall, a winner, a team guy, a person who LOVES wearing the Broncos uniform and a more athletic version of Cutler, and a big guard…. what's not to love.
I was listening to 104.3 the fan and Drew Goodman said “Tebow needs to work on his accuracy” and immediately Hastings cut him off and said “67% isn't accurate?” and Goodman said “I don't care about stats!” and Hastings said “Then how can you say he isn't accurate?”… made Goodman look like a d!pshit! lol. He has won at ever level, something Cutler has never done, and I think, like with Cutler, that will translate to the NFL.

Eh…stats can be misleading though. Let's face it – because of the option/pseudo-spread offense that Florida ran, defenses had to play man and stack the box against Tebow running. Because of that, his completion percentage is higher than it would have been if he was playing against a lot of zone or double-coverage.

Don't get me wrong – I love the pick and am REALLY excited. I just despise when people quote stats as if they're the end-all and be-all of evaluation.

Don't get me wrong, College stats can be misleading, but I don't think that there has ever been a college QB besides Peyton Manning who was so determined to make it and EARN his paycheck in the NFL as Tebow is. With that kind of mentality, the sky is the limit for him.

All this Tebow talk is nice and all but what are your thoughts on Round 3 selections? ILB? DT? More OL?

ILB and Center.
Coach knows his needs, and he'll address them in a deep draft.
I'd also like a safety taken if possible.

I'm a bit disappointed both Spikes and Angerer are gone. That and Terrence Cody – of course, he went to Baltimore.

I really like cody, but the boy is only good for a handful of plays. Kinda like Gilbert Brown…. and we all know what we did against his fat ass in the super bowl.
I think that we're addressing needs just fine. We have 2 picks in the 3rd, which I'm sure will be used on another OL and an ILB or Safety.

TBoy has a full year to learn the “System” before he takes over.
with Eddie R the small guy over the middle…within 3 years the Broncos be very cool…(don't forget, after next year a number of teams will want Orton)

Uuuhhhhhhhh……whose playing ILB next to DJ next year? Beadles and Walton = the new oline to add with Harris and Clady. Walton is a steal as he was rated #2/#3 C in the draft. Everything on Beadles says he'll be a nasty guard – no complaints here……..EXCEPT FOR ILB!!!!!!!!!

Each head coach has a “system”. The players picked are those who fit their system…
How many web experts chose Brian B to fall? Dan Williams? Jimmy C?

I know Woodyard is a bit small for inside but he just seems to find the ball and can bring some power.

I can't see it. Think we would have taken Butler had SD not moved up and snagged him from us. Haggan could possibly move inside with Ayers now starting…….

I'm a huge Woodyard fan because I like to root for the underdog. That being said, the guy really sucked in pass coverage last year and one would think with his blazing speed he would be good at covering TE's and RB's. Unfortunately he is probably a lifetime special teams and backup player. I hope I am wrong.

Spencer may be a different story. He is a big guy and while his range is limited, he proved to be decent in zone coverage and he is smart enough to be able to keep himself in position to make a play.

I guess we will no more in training camp. I would love to see us pick up Morrison from the raiders now though. Perfect fit with our scheme.
