The Denver Broncos shocked the NFL today when they traded for Notre Dame alumnus Brady Quinn. This news so recent, that most Denver fans are left in such a state of disbelief that they haven’t been able to formulate an opinion yet. Wouldn’t you like to know what Brady Quinn is thinking? Well now you can. Thanks to an exclusive interview conducted by the Plain Dealer today we can now read about Brady Quinn’s thoughts on being traded. I just wish he asked him what number he wants to take.

Quinn on whether he expects to be the starter

* (On starting in Denver?) “At this point, I’m just looking to create a role for myself on the team. Anytime you’re in a situation like this, that’s all you can really do is just go in there and learn the system, get to know your teammates and coaches, everyone else and that’s really my focus right now. All of those things will take care of themselves in the end.”

Quinn on whether he got a fair shot in Cleveland

* (On receiving a fair shot here?) “Looking at the situation, it’s not really for me to decide that. I just wish things would’ve gone differently in Cleveland. I hope they have success in the future. I hope coach Holmgren can get things turned around for them.”

Quinn on if he asked for a trade

* (On did he ask for trade) “No, there was no request for a trade. The first I learned about it was when (General Manager) Tom Heckert informed me of it. But when they signed Jake (Delhomme) to the deal they did, the writing was kind of on the wall at that point.”

Quinn on his foot injury

* (On his Lis Franc foot injury)”It’s doing great. It’s really progressed very well. I’m just now coming into 100% recovery and feeling great. I look forward to competing and working with the guys in the offseason workouts (starting this week).”

This is just the abridged version, if you want to read more make sure you check out the link.

Brady Quinn seems like a stand up guy, something McDaniels admires in his quarterbacks. It’ll be very interesting to see him

Welcome to Denver Bronco-land Brady. I remember draft day and you handled that potential embarrassment with class. Now get ready for more pressure than being the president, we love our football!

…….and we don't like losing. Good luck! Ready? Go!

We got who I wanted anyway last year, for much less. With better QB coaching, and a better system for him, I think he'll do well here. At minimum, he'll be a better back-up, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him starting eventually.

I like what McD and X are doing this off-season. They seem to have a plan. These signings are putting less pressure on the draft, with less critical needs to meet, so we can focus on OG, ILB, etc. I realize there is a big “if” around Jamal Williams still being able to contribute, but there are always unknowns in this business, and I think it's a good gamble. I think they have taken care of the D-line, so now it is bigger and more talented.

Hopefully we sign an experienced center soon, and we'll either have BM (which I expect) or another #1, so that takes care of itself. Also the Scheffler situation has yet to play out, which will probably bring us a one or two more draft picks…

Initially I like the trade. Brady knows the system. You never know, sometimes a players second stop is thier most productive. It's not like McD was going to play Hillis in 2010. I am not sure I see Brady as the starter, but at least he doesn't fall to the ground when a D-Lineman gets within 4 feet.

    Go Broncos!!!

It seems to me like they're building depth, rather than big names. Jamal Williams probably isn't an every down player anymore, but rotating with Fields (and maybe Baker), he'll be fine.

I absolutely love the Quinn trade. We all knew last year that Orton was just keeping the seat warm until somebody else was ready. Quinn will get his chance to prove he's “somebody else”, so will Brandstater, and so will the next guy if neither of them work out.

Brady is an animal. a physical specimen who can thrive in this system ( and by system i mean BMF (bad motha ****** bmarsh… efr eddie effin royal and chef tony) I still think the broncos sign BMF long term and are now looking to draft Rolando (since releasing auDRA davis). We have to admit that Brady wasnt great on a bad time… But he did make us look bad in that shoot out a couple years back and he had a few more flashes of talent too. Was wanting to see what Orton could do in his 2nd year in the system but Im excited to see if Brady can be the man. Bigger D line, bigger Oline and now a bigger QB. Cant wait!!!

What a way to start my Monday! Just knowing that neck beard's days are numbered…!

I like it, it makes our football TEAM better. I love the depth McD has been creating. It will be interesting to see who gets the start come August.

Very interesting move. Quinn's signing is 12 months later than I expected but better late than never. The only pressure on him is to be better than Simms and most importantly this means we don't draft Tim Tebow!

Like Foxworth before him, Hillis goes to his next team with the good wishes of the entire Broncos Nation behind him. If he isn't getting the playing time to be good for the Broncos, here's hoping he gets it somewhere else and plays out of his skin.

Our roster is really showing signs of depth to be contenders with…finally! Great job by the McD & X to find and go get this roster some tallent! This is exactly how you want to approach draft day…with a limited amount of NEEDS!

  • Scottey

    Amen to that!

My god “BroncoNinja” can you be bigger Nancy! I mean come on, your homo-erotic references to “Big D line, Bigger O line and now a Bigger QB!” I am imagining you saying this with a slight lisp and giggle afterwards. In short this post disturbs me a bit. However, I wish Brady the best, there are a lot of broken hearted girls and yes boys like you back in Cleveland. Go Brady, GO! (with a lisp)

I stumbled on to your blog to see what Denver thought of the trade. So I promise I will say what I want to say and leave.

I think you are going to be very happy with Quinn. He is a hard working quality player and person. He did nothing but represent the Browns with class. Remember it was Brady and Joe Thomas that sat in and handled the press conference for Randy “I have no nuts” Lerner when he fired Crennel. Quinn deserved better than he got in Cleveland. I hate to see him leave, but he should be thankful for the new start in Denver. You are great football fans, and I truly believe once he settles in and gets more reps you are going to be very pleased. I think this is great for Denver, and a good move for Cleveland. It allows Holmgren to start cleaning up a decade of bad decisions, and poor management, and gets Brady out from under a rebuilding franchise, and have a legitimate opportunity to compete.

Denver Fans, have great year. I am looking forward to seeing Hillis play for the Browns.
