Just last week rumors were flying everywhere stating that the Broncos were for sale. So owner Pat Bowlen decided to squash them, and in doing so, he came up with one of the most classic quotes of his career.

“What the hell am I going to do? Retire and play golf everyday?” Bowlen told the paper. “That would drive me nuts.”

The Broncos are in Bowlen’s hands and here to stay. Bowlen is currently 66 but he believes that he’s still go it in him to run the franchise.

“Yeah, I work out every day,” he told the Post. “I’m not in shape to do the Ironman tomorrow, but I try to keep moving.”

Bowlen had stated last year that he has had memory problems, which only caused more fear to the rumors. Mike Klis of the Denver Post however believes that Bowlen is too young to sell the team and “he’s fitter than most men 40 years younger.Mr. General Sir, please take us down to DEFCON 5 thank you. Bowlen also stated that he was content with the franchise but he believes changes need to take place.

There’s going to be changes,” Bowlen told The Post. “As I look at the team, I think we have a solid football team. There are some areas of the team where’d we like to be better. I have talked with Josh about that. I know what his feelings are. And I’ve got a great deal of faith in his ability to recognize that and ability to go out and execute it.”

Pat Bowlen has always been known as being a laissez-faire style owner, but since the outing of Mike Shanahan he’s not been afraid to get his hands dirty. It has been said that the trading of Jay Cutler was more of Bowlen’s doing than coach Josh McDaniels’. Therefore with this uncapped year in the horizon, as Denver fans let’s hope Mr. Bowlen is generously hands on with his wallet. I know I for one would like to see number 92 back.

Bullet dodged Denver fans. Count your blessings, at least this offseason we don’t have to hear about the “L.A. Broncos.”

Even if the Broncos were for sale (and thank God they're not), I think they're locked in at Invesco Stadium until 2025 (or something like that). I seem to recall that being one of the conditions the city had set when the new stadium was being built. (I tried to find something on the Internet to confirm this, but couldn't find anything.)

  • SivNiz

    And the people rejoiced!

  • monto

not surprising given the dubious nature of the rumours in the first place but good to hear never the less

  • Plato

    Where's hope/milehighs/milelows/orten for this one?

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Josh Temple

He was banned awhile back for taking it too far, but I've seen the same drivel pop up with different acct names.

  • Chuck E. Marshall

Too bad I really wanted Kroenke to own the Broncos

  • http://manchester-architects.com T-Money

And see how much more peaceful it is…

  • dogheadbrew

National news and Bowlen responding to a Pft is just as pointless as us responding to hope/milehighs…

  • dogheadbrew

Kronke could still end up taking over at some point, but he's 62. He is much more a Bowlen contemporary than successor. The Broncos need a younger owner-to-be.

Because of that, I am willing to let it be known here and now, with certainty and absolutely no research or rational reason behind it, that Mark Cuban has put together a financial package and is about to offer it to Mr. Pat Bowlen for the Denver Broncos. Who will become the Bismark North Dakota Fly Fishermen.

  • DenversFinest

I wish he would sell the team, someone whos got the cash not to trade a 1st rounder for a 2nd rounder. The dudes a spoiled rotten d bag that never made any money for himself, he was just lucky enough to be apart of the rich semen club. I really don't care if he sells the team, just make sure its not someone like Al davis.

  • Plato

    Speaking of douches…

  • CompUser

While Pat Bowlen did inherit a good amount of money, he also earned quite a bit of wealth on his own. You should try doing a little research before shooting off to make sure that what your shooting off about is even accurate, otherwise you just make yourself look stupid.

  • Plato

I'm not stating that Pat Bowlen didn't procure a fair amount of his wealth via inheritance.

I'm stating that “Denver's Finest” is a douche for disrespecting Pat Bowlen by saying he “was lucky enough to be in the rich semen club.”

If Mr. Finest has an issue with Pat Bowlen's management he should stick to that topic instead of being rude. What Mr. Finest could say is something like, “I hope Pat Bowlen sells the Broncos because I am not a fan of his management of the franchise. I think someone else could do a better job.”

  • DenversFinest

He procured wealth from the wealth he already inherited. Look it up. The younger Bowlen became wealthy in his own right by becoming a successful lawyer in Edmonton, Alberta (wikipedia). Did I hurt your feelings FAGO? Im not sorry that I think Pat Bowlen is a D BAG……FAGO!!!

  • WhidbeyBronco

we'd all be better off not even responding to that kind of nonsense

  • WhidbeyBronco

the boss looks good for 66…

  • DenversFinest

It must be all the surfing in hawaii….haha….sorry I shouldn't player hate. How's this? I LOVE PAT BOWLEN!!!!

  • Plato

I could care less if you like him or not. It's just annoying to have to read the word semen while I'm trying to read about football.

  • DenversFinest

    touche?

  • WhidbeyBronco

American Idol…. Thank God for DVR

  • TheTroglodyte

Pay his kind no mind. He didn't get enough attention from his mommy as a kid so now he posts mindless messages that don't have anything to do with anything on blogs hoping to make up for his mess of a childhood.

  • DenversFinest

Damn Trogladike your right…..im going to go cry myself to sleep now.

  • Plato

    Hahahahahahahahahaha

  • Plato

It's way to early to sleep.

  • TheTroglodyte

Sweet spin on my name, its real original. The funny part is you don't even know what my name means. Like your cry for attention, your inability to think rationally for yourself or even understand a simple Troglodyte name is… as would be said in Good Will Hunting “It's not your fault!” Now embrace me in a hug as I allow you to weep ever so gently on my shoulder. There there, isn't that better?

  • WhidbeyBronco

    u like apples?

  • DenversFinest

It means living in solitude….Im not even going to begin starting in on you about that. Its that pathetic.

  • MrEast

    Now boys, play nice!

  • TheTroglodyte

Uhhhh no that is not what it means. Want to try again chief? I'll give you a hint, it's in the dictionary. If you don't own one, you can either go to your public library OR you can even use one for free on the “IN-TER-NET”. If you are unsure what “internet” is then I suggest going to your local public library for a dictionary. TTFN!

  • TheTroglodyte

lol I do actually! “Oh my God! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry Sean!”

  • DenversFinest

    Troglodyte may refer to:

Caveman, a member of a primitive race or tribe of cave-dwellers
    Hermit, who lives in seclusion
One of a group of people who built homes into the faces of cliffs, connected by underground passageways, such as in France or Tunisia
Troglodytae or Troglodyti, an ancient group of people from the African Red Sea coast
Troglodites, a fictional tribe described in Montesquieu's Persian Letters, supposedly descending from the ancient Troglodytae
Troglodyte, a race of humanoid monsters in the game Dungeons & Dragons
Troglodyte, 2009 film also known as Sea Beast
    Troglodytes may refer to:

Troglodytes (wren), a genus of small bird
    The Common Chimpanzee, Pan troglodytes

So which one is it, my final answer is a race of humanoid monsters in the game Dungeons & Dragons.

  • TheTroglodyte

“So which one is it, my final answer is a race of humanoid monsters in the game Dungeons & Dragons.”

    lol that was funny!
