Rick Dennison

Calling it “one of those situations that really tugs at you,” longtime Denver Broncos assistant Rick Dennison will leave the Broncos to call plays as the offensive coordinator with the Houston Texans. From the Denver Post

“I’m a Colorado guy – I wasn’t born here, but I’ve spent a lot of my life here – and it’s been a long time with an organization. It’s really, really hard to not be associated with the Broncos.’’

“That made it hard, but this opportunity, to get a chance to work with (Texans head coach) Gary (Kubiak), I don’t know how many times something like that is going to come around. I thought I better jump at on it if it’s at all possible and it’s possible.’’

Dennison has been with the Broncos as a player and coach for 24 years. Immediately, the Broncos will need to fill his former position as offensive line coach, but the loss of a long-term employee with a rich understanding of Broncos tradition is a lot harder to replace. The Broncos have lost a lot of these types of guys in the past few years — Dennison, Kubiak, Shanahan…. We wish Dennison the best of luck in Houston

Down to one and he may be gone tomorrow.

Knew this was coming, don't know if it's good or bad, but last standing of our glorly years is about gone.

    Kind of sad.

McD better get it together in a frickin hurry.

I can only hope that this is a good thing. While I think Dennison was a very good assistant coach for denver I don't think McD and him saw eye to eye on things. Might be better to get someone in who does.

Another part of the old team moving on… best of luck to him.

Now it's time for McD to take the next step.

Could it be that our long time coaches just don't want to work with McD after a year with him?

    whats the situation on Sheffler?

It's more than likely ALL about the promotion. Both coaches mentioned it being hard to leave Denver.

And they're football guys. You get along with other football guys. Football coaches are as far from prima donnas as you can get.

Just think of all of those Browns fans that wanted to throw Belichick overboard when he dumped Kozar? Think they'd like to have that one back ? Give McDaniels time. The Texan's o-line was desperate….and you no longer run the Shanahand WCO anymore. That there thingy is in Washington & Houston. And you've got Clady.
