Is it ridiculously early? Yes. Do the Broncos still have a ton of tough matchups in their remaining slate of eleven games? Absolutely.

But if Pro Bowls were determined after five weeks of the season, Kyle Orton would be in the conversation.

Your given in the AFC is Peyton Manning. After that, it’s a multiple-man contest for the last two spots, with Joe Flacco, Matt Schaub, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Carson Palmer, and Tom Brady all making strong cases.

Let’s take a look at the numbers. Among those listed, Kyle Orton is:

  • 1st in winning percentage (1.00)
  • 1st in interceptions (1)
  • 3rd in passer rating (97.4)
  • 4th in touchdowns (7)
  • 4th in completion percentage (63.0)
  • 6th in yds/game (247.2)

Is Kyle Orton Pro Bowl bound?  Did we trade a 2008 Pro Bowler for a 2009 one, plus picks?  Maybe.  Let us know your thoughts in the poll and in the comments.

Would you put Kyle Orton in the Pro Bowl?

Orton is a much better player than advertised, and it seems we may have gotten a good value for Jay. That said, Orton will not go to the Pro-Bowl. He may deserve it, but he is not sexy enough, and you have to be nekkid supermodel sexy to get any real national love when you're in Denver.

KO has good numbers now, but he is going to have some serious bad games ahead of him. He has been very lucky with INTs there should have been 10 or more that people just failed to take. That being said, there has been several QBs that have been lucky that way and still made it to the pro bowl.

He'd have a pretty solid shot if the Broncos were in the NFC. I don't like his chances here in the AFC.

Orton was awful at Purdue, and at Chicago and now he is given you false hope at Denver. Trust me by the end of the season he will have taken your hearts out and stomped them into the ground. Monday will be a beat down by the Chargers and you have alot of tough games ahead including a beat down at Indy.Hey but false hope is better than know hope!!!

well look at it this way, if Orton doesnt make the Pro Bowl, we can just blame Jay Cutler for it like most blamed him for everything else this past offseason.

  • awesomeaustin

Didn't Orton have all kinds of awards and crap at Purdue? I don't see him as a super star but serviceable, sure…and Bradford in 2010 with the bears #1.

Didn't Cutler get to the Pro Bowl last year with his and his teams early success?

  • steeplebomb

You could say that about any QB. Jay cutler could have 15-20 interceptions if the d backs always ended up making the play.

  • steeplebomb

You clearly don't know what the hell you're talking about. Kyle Orton was a legitimate Heisman candidate until multiple mid season injuries. He tied Drew Brees' record for passing yards in a game and was at one point considered the third best QB in the country behind Leinart and Jason White. The best? Of course not. Its stupidly premature to talk about the pro bowl, but you're just being an idiot.

  • awesomeaustin

I didn't say the d-backs always making the play on orton, because if they would have orton would have been benched by now. I am just saying he has been above average on bad throws that should have been picked.

i don't know about anyone else but I will be voting for Kyle Orton for the pro bowl when the time comes. I vote for Broncos first and the best players from the rest of the league after I have run out of Broncos. I am a homer and proud of it! I have also learned a lot in life. I vote multiple times.

Sexy enough!?!?! Are you kidding me? You don't have to be sexy looking to get noticed. Orton is the most underrated QB and gives 100% every game. Orton don't recognize himself when he wins the game, he recognize the whole team as a “53-man effort every week”. That's a true team player compare to Jay Cutler. BTW Kyle Orton is nice looking man and I am MAN.

  • vanman12

You vote multiple times ? That's ok, in Chicago even dead people get to vote and vote often. The Pro Bowl is a popularity contest and as such the best player don't always get nominated.

I like Kyle. I think he is a better fit for us than Jay. Kyle is a superb teammate and works very hard. But the Pro Bowl is not just a merit selection. Kyle is not going to fire a 40 yard in the air pass to a leaping Marshall between three bewildered defenders for a touchdown that will get 72 consecutive hours of coverage. On the other hand he won't attempt that throw four times a game and get it picked twice.

I love Kyle as or QB right now, especially because he's getting healthier. But he's not going to the Pro Bowl. He seems to fit the whole “I don't care what you think, I'm going to go do my job with the 52 other players out there, and we will celebrate with our real fans.” demeanor these Broncos seem to have.

LOL people should really do some research before making stupid comments like this 1. Maybe you should go check Ortons college stats…oh and his stats as an NFL starter. My fav= 18-2 at home.

This is exactly what Bears fans were saying last year before Kyle got injured. He was the new franchise QB, should be voted into the Pro Bowl…then he got injured ( a season-ending injury) and needed to stay off his leg for 4-6 weeks. He came back a week later, played with a brace on his leg for the good of the team. Since he never used it as an excuse, everyone thought he suddenly was a terrible QB. I agree with the comment above, the only opinion he cares about is the opinions of his teammates. They asked Coach McDaniels if everyoine had been wrong about Kyle Orton and he said, “I don't know what people thought about Kyle and I don't care. All I know is he's doing a great job for us and we're really comfortable with him leading our offense.”
