Tony Romo and the disappearing 4th down

While Broncos country celebrated its third goal line stop of the Dallas Cowboys in the game’s waning seconds Sunday, quarterback Tony Romo tried to rally his troops back to the line for that fourth and final try.

Except there wasn’t one. Romo had spiked the football and killed the clock on second down and apparently forgot he was out of tries. Take a look:

Now, it can be easy for a FAN to get lost in the heat of the moment in a big football game, but generally, it’s important for the QUARTERBACK to be in tune with the flow of the game. You know, little things, like the given down of any play, when a play is his team’s absolute final last shot for the tie, etc.. Quite a snafu there by the ex-Mr. Jessica Simpson.

    I feel like I say it almost every year at least once, but during that last defensive stand I think it was the loudest the New Mile High has ever been. I was banging the seats in front of me and I could hardly hear it.

    Beat me to this post Kyle :P I was a bit shocked on this one myself. I've always like Romo as a QB but this is inexcusable.

    How many QB's have lined up behind the OG instead of the C? Called timeout when there wasn't any to be had? Rushed onto the field without their helmet?
