Is Brandon Marshall‘s lack of playbook knowledge a big deal? Not if you ask Head Coach Josh McDaniels, who said it isn’t any different from what he’d expect from any injured player. He also added that playbooks aren’t handed out during the offseason. Some Wednesday practice quotes below:
On if Marshall is behind in his knowledge of the playbook
“He’s catching up. He knows there’s plenty of things he does know. I mean, any player who’s missed a significant portion of time with any type of injury is going to be a little bit behind in terms of their knowledge of the installation, but that goes for everybody. There are players that aren’t out here for practice, and they’re going to miss some things. We’ll have to catch them up, too. So that’s a process that’s ongoing and will be ongoing all year long with different players that miss significant portions of time.”
On if players receive a playbook during the offseason
“We don’t hand out a playbook. If you’re here in the spring, we hand things out daily and go through that and put it in. Then the next day it’s a different thing. So I’m not concerned about that, he’ll be fine. He’s a smart player and a smart kid. He understands what we’re trying to do.”
There you have it. Nothing to see here. Big thanks to 850 AM KOA’s Facebook page for the audio (this is a rough transcript typed by yours truly; we’ll replace these with the Broncos’ official transcript as soon as that’s provided).
