Call it Preseason Game 0.5.
The Denver Broncos are leaving the tranquility of Dove Valley for the roar of INVESCO Field at Mile High Thursday night, hosting a full team scrimmage under the stadium lights. The two-hour event will feature full pads and live game scenarios.
Admission and parking are both free to the public, with festivities set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
“There will be some live contact and hitting,” Head Coach Josh McDaniels told the media Wednesday. “We are going to simulate, as much as we can, a game-type setting and scenario for our players and staff because we haven’t done this together yet. We don’t want the first time that it happens to be in San Francisco.” The Broncos kick off the 2009 preseason in San Francisco on Friday, August 14th.
Gates for Thursday’s practice open at 5:30 p.m., and seating for the stadium is general admission. Free parking is available on the south end of the stadium in lots A, B and C. Fans should enter the stadium through gate 10.
The full team will be available for autographs following the practice, and there will also be a limited T-Shirt giveaway.
“We are all looking forward to going down there,” McDaniels said. “Usually during this time of training camp, you get rejuvenated by going down there, putting the lights on and being in the stadium. It is a fun thing for all of us.”
I can’t wait to see how both the offense and defense look in game situations, under the lights. I am pumped for Thursday night’s practice.
