The AFC West May Have a New “Lights Out”

Nothing against the Chargers linebacker, but a different AFC West team may be boasting the most appropriate owner of Shawne Merriman‘s “Light’s Out” nickname: Tom Cable, Head Coach, Oakland Raiders.

The National Football Post reported Monday that Raiders assistant coach Randy Hanson was injured in an altercation between he and another unspecified coach. Meanwhile, NFL Fanhouse did some digging and is now reporting that it was in fact Cable who threw the punch, citing a “well-placed NFL source.”

This might be the most epic thing I’ve ever read. Head Coach punching the assistant? Only in Oakland. This is obviously EXTREMELY unconfirmed, but the only thing I can do as a Broncos fan is wear a big evil grin and repeat to myself, “Please be true, please be true…”

    lol its funny you call these guys coaches. when we all know that Al Davis runs the show. This couldn’t happen at Dove Valley it would of been the other way around with Nolan on McDaniels.

    I’m imagining Al Davis as Tom Cruise’s character on Tropic Thunder. He probably ordered Cable to punch that Assistant Coach in the face as hard as you can. Just another day at the office for the Cript Keeper.

    The word is that Cable flipped over a chair that the other coach was sitting in. He smashed his face against a cabinet. This is the same Asst. coach who Kiffin got in a scuffle with and Davis intervened, only to fire Kiffin. This organization get better every year!!

    I sure hope they don't end up replacing him – they may actually get someone good in as coach if they get desperate enough. Maybe they will just end up suspending him for a little while :)
