Moss

Denver Broncos 2007 first round pick Jarvis Moss is considering retirement, Fox 31 is reporting. The outside linebacker was a noticeable absence from practice on Saturday.

After practice, Head Coach Josh McDaniels said Moss was absent for “very personal reasons.” He did not give any other details.

If I had millions guaranteed I would retire without taking any hits, too. Or could this be a Junior Seau like, retire/UN-retire and switch to another team? I don’t know if the rules allow that.

  • Kyle

I don’t think you sound harsh at all NM. I’m livid! This kid committed highway robbery!

To clarify, the media didn’t know about the retirement reports when we asked McD where Moss was. He just “missed practice for very personal reasons.” I don’t think there’s anything wrong in his life, I think he’s just quitting football.

could be a kennison move, but I’m not sure he would be wanted by anyone outside our division.

That’s too bad. From what I have read he sounds like a very good person. He has great size and great speed with apparent reason not be a great player. The only thing that seems to be missing is that ‘nastiness’ you need to play DL in the NFL. Lots of good guys can flip that switch when they step on the field, i.e. Atwater and Lynch, and just knock people out, he just does not seem to have that switch.

Hopefully this is temporary and he gets himself to where he needs to be one way or the other.

*no apparent reason not to be a great player.

Wow… How are we going to fill that void if he does retire?!!! We are talking about a guy that has put up 3.5 sacks in 2 years. I just hope Coach McD has a remedy for this huge blow to our defense. eeerrrrr…. This guy is considering retirement because he sucks and has been a huge disappointment from the get go… Im sure he is aware that he was being shopped for a 7th rd pick and there were no takers. Jarvis! Dont let the door hit you on your way out!!

  • flbronc

very personal reasons- i hope everything is ok in his world. that being said, it wont hurt my feelings if he doesnt use up a roster spot. if he retires, do we get the cap room back without penalty? Not that i am advocating going out to sign anyone in particular, its just a question.

  • broncoNM

Dont mean to sound harsh… i hope his mental well-being is ok… It just hurts to witness your team suffer from such a first rd bust… we traded up to get this guy.

All mental w/ this dude! Can you say quitter!

    What a huge bust!

  • Ryan

Umm please retire…if we cut him we still have to pay a portion of the salary if he retires he has to pay us a portion of the bonus money he has already recieved. As far as im concerned this is not a bad thing

  • Craig

Really a douchebag. Just lost some respect for this site. The kid was but in a bad situation from day 1. I feel sorry for him. He was drafted into a 4-3 team that had horrible D coaches. He should have been drafted by a 3-4 team where his skill set fits much better. The guy has a ton of skill and potential but lacks the drive. Its nice to know that you jump to conclusions when you do not really know his state of mind.

kids will be an official loser if he retires.

  • kerry

wow. he wants to retire and now the haters are out in full force calling him names and so on and so on. but hey can McDaniels just has that affect on players. Thomas failed a physical, Cutler wanted out, Marshall wants out, Moreno and Ayers STILL havent signed………. the ship is sinking quite quickly. but hey at least we have Kyle Orton who throws the best 5 yard pass outside of Chad Pennington.

  • bw53

Craig you feel sorry for him? Grow a pair, buddy! I weep for all multi-millionaire 20-somethings !

  • flbronc

i like how kerry makes this with moss mcdaniels fault…. along with the issue of the unsigned rookies. he’s probably responsible for the rest of the unsigned rookies in the league- they’re just concerned the their owners might bring in mcdaniels so they are asking for more cash just in case.

  • flbronc

kerry- lets not forget that chad pennington went to the playoffs (albeit only to lose to the ravens in the first round), which is something we havent done in a while.

  • ClockOut

I liked Jarvis Moss and hoped he would mature and stay healthy enough to become a force in the NFL….I find it odd that he wants to quit.

  • anthony33

Why don’t we just go ahead and blame McD for the war in Iraq, the recession, the poor health care system and global warming, along with everything else that’s wrong in the world. Why stop at the Broncos and NFL?

The Broncos and McD will surprise this year.
