As draft day approaches, BroncoTalk will be giving you game tape highlights of some of the bigger (and smaller) names around the draft.  This installment brings the defensive tackle that is at the top of everyone’s board.  Boston College’s B.J. Raji.  Projected to be a top five pick, or he might have fallen stock after allegations of a failed drug test at the combine, Raji is what many would consider the future anchor of Denver’s 3-4 defensive line.

I really love the idea of trading up to get Raji in the first…

no trading up! Only down. No way we can afford to lose picks. If he’s there at 12 it will be a miracle but maybe we can start some totally untrue rumours about him to hurt his drafft stock? He eats babies and he’s the one who has decided not to show episode 13 of Dollhouse on Fox. There we go, that should make sure we don’t have to trade.

I love the hand off / hit he puts on a running back at 3:00 in the middle video. The guy goes to double team him and BJ just sends him backwards while fending off a lineman, sweet.

Is it me or in the combine video does he need a sports bra? A bit like when Homer was on the treadmill in “The Springfield Files”?

dont love him enough to trade up…

Agree. i would love to trade down with New York to have their first and their second or third.

Are you guys kidding, we must do anything and everything to get this guy. If we get Raji he can anchor our defense for the next 10 years similar to Ryan Clady on the offensive side of the ball. Even if we trade our 12th and a 3rd up a few spots and maybe grab a 6th with the team that we trade with we have to do it. WE’ll still have another first rounder for Maualuga or Tyson and a 2nd and a 3rd.

If Raji is available at #8, then we must trade up with the Jaguars. The value chart difference is only 200 points. Our #12 and our first 3rd round pick equal 195 points. This will definitely happen if Raji is there. Plus we can move ahead of Green Bay at #9 who is SURE to take him if available. We have to trade up if he is there, it just doesn’t cost us very much at all.

Yeah I like Raji but not enough to trade up. I thought the idea to trade Cutler was to rebuild the whole team. This team is not one player away from the Super Bowl. Besides theirs no guarentees Raji will be impact player we hope he can be. Look at the 2003 draft. He could be the next Kevin Williams or be a bust like Dewayne Robertson, Johnathan Sullivan, or Jimmy Kennedy. If he somehow falls to 12, awesome. If not, I hope they trade down to the late first/early second pick up Brace and gather a pick or two.

yeah no trading up. Raji is damn good but not worth moving up for. every single year everybody screams that we JUST HAVE TO MOVE UP for this guy or that guy. when a team is rebuilding, you dont up unless it is for a potentially elite QB. we have way too many holes to trade anything. trade down yes. but not from 12. keep the 12, select Raji if he is there or Tyson Jackson. forget Maualuga. does anyone actually know the details on him? Maualuga is a 2 down MLB at best, bad in coverage and injury prone. his stock is falling, not rising and the biggest knock is that scouts say he is the product of having Cushing and Matthews around him. which is completely correct

I agree. We cannot trade up at all. Take Raji if he falls to us at 12 but if not take Jackson and trade 18 down to select Brace at the end of round 1. We cannot afford to let Brace slip away by waiting to try to get him with our 2nd round pick. We need a NT in order to make the transition to a 3-4 and someone else will grab him if we try to wait until the 2nd. We need all the picks we can get to build our team (mainly D but we also need to spend a couple late round picks on a backup O lineman, a RB, and possibly a QB). Trade down with 18 and take Brace & pick up another late round pick.
