The Denver Broncos have agreed to trade Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears.

In return, the Broncos acquired quarterback Kyle Orton, two first-round draft picks (18th overall in 2009 and their 2010 first round pick), and a third-round pick. The Broncos also included a fifth-round pick in the deal.

it has to be about defense and a new swagger on this team…..no more worrying about your QB’s blood sugar….remember kyle ORTON is 25-12 as a starter…..remember its not about gunslinging and winning pretty….its about wins time to copy the steelers mold

  • utah bronco

In some bar in this great country of ours, I’m pretty sure Shannahan is laughing his A$$ off and is glad he’s not involved with this circus anymore.

  • fresno bronco

I’m with SanDiegoBronco55. Good riddance to Cutler. Yeah, he was our pro-bowler but he didn’t want to be a Bronco anymore. Seems like this was the best trade possible. It’s not like we were going to get a Peyton in return. At first I was shocked, but now it’s looking like da Bears overpaid. Hoping now that McD can work his Cassell-magic on Kyle Fucking Orton, but I’m not holding my breath. Trading up for Sanchez sounds more appealing.

All the Cutler haters out there, do you think Kyle Orton is the answer? Do you see him taking us to the playoffs? Wait a second. Did anybody see his ass in the probowl last year? No?? How weird. What was the fans and league thinking by not adding him to the probowl roster? Oh yeah, you have to be good to go there. Orton is not. He has a defense, and a serious return threat in Hester. Orton sucks. Simms sucks. Jay is the man. This orginization is going to shit. How are you guys “Tired of this and are looking forward?” This is kind of a big deal. Ya we got draft picks. But wtf are we going to use them for? We just gave away a FRANCHISE quarterback. Now we gotta go search for another one. But where do we get one? The draft? Oh wait, we can’t. Stafford won’t be there at twelve and Sanchez is not worth it. And lets piece more pieces to this puzzle together. If we trade our picks up to get Stafford or Sanchez, we are going to have to pay him a shit load. So why would we not just have given the proven quarterback all the money instead of giving it to a unproven rookie? I have been a die-hard Bronco fan for years and years now, but this draws the line. Drunkass Bowlen has just taken a few steps in becoming the next Al Davis, and dont even get me started on McD. He is an idiot. And i’m sick of hearing this “Lets watch him coach a game first before we bag him” What has he done? Got us some defense, a good and a couple of washed up runningbacks, and than trade away our main, best player on the team. Wow, this guy is going to be great. This orginization is going to hell. I can’t wait for Jay to come back to Denver in the preseason and hand us an asskicking from hell. Than I hope he looks at McD, along with all of the fans looking at McD, and I hope Jay flips him off and says F*** you, scoreboard. Than I hope all the fans turn that into a chant of F*** you McDaniels. But hey, one can only dream right? Lets hope that when Jay’s contract is up in 2011, we will not have McIdiot at HC and we can sign him to a billion dollar deal. Strap on your seatbelts fans, were in for a long F****** season!!!

  • http://broncotalk.net Joe

I just can’t wait to hear the chant from the opposing crowd at our away games chanting “Its all over (clap, clap, clap, clap, clap) Its all over…..(Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap)..”

I wonder how long it’ll take McDumb-Ass to sell the Cutler #6 Throwback jersey on EBAY? What an ass!

  • Jordan C

Of course I’m a huge fan of Pat White, but here’s an idea –

Extend Orton for a few years on the cheap (he’s only making $1 million this year) He and/or Simms will play much, much better under McDaniels. Trade that player away next year and then package the two first rounders for Bradford next year.

Bradford (a pocket passer), more than McCoy (a running QB) and Tebow (a running QB), really fits what McDaniels does. The guy is more than legit.

If not Pat White this year, then Bradford next year. I’m very skeptical of every other QB prospect out there. I’m intrigued by Graham Harrell if McDaniels can teach him to take a snap from under center without dropping the ball.

  • http://broncotalk.net Joe

The more and more I hear about this and reallize that this is not one big, bad nightmare, the more pissed off I am getting. I hope this team sucks. I want them to pay the true price for getting rid of Jay. I hop it takes years before they find another franchise quarterback. I will always follow Jay and will always rather see him succeed than McDaniels, no matter where he is at. I hate McDumbass with a passion. He better be able to pull a trade to get Tom Brady or Peyton Manning now, or I’ll hate the motherF***** for as long as he is in Denver

  • roshon2411

Well two first round picks was more than i thought they could get, but so much for everyone saying it would be like ebay and be a bidding war. Yeah it was like ebay but Chicago was able to use the buy-it-now and get free shipping. Hey but at least McDaniels wasn’t dumb enough to trade him to an AFC team, that way Cutler only breaks their hearts every three years. Looking at the schedule for this year I see four wins. Kansas City, Oakland, Cleveland at home and Cincy on the road.

  • roshon2411

Also, think Cutler shows up for the pre-season game this year? If I was him I would either tell Lovie Sith I’m playing the whole game and we are passing everydown or act like i’m going to play, let the game sell out, then not make the flight out. I’m a Broncos fan thru and thru but Chicago just became my second favorite team.

  • john

As a lifelong Bears fan I’ve got to say my first reaction was actually disappointment. I like hard-working local guys and Kyle Orton is one of those. He actually played very well last year. The number of drops were unbelievable! The short of it is, Kyle Orton knows the game of football and is in the best shape of his life. With a first class operation like the Broncos I think he’ll thrive and will probably have better stats than Jake. Hopefully we’ll meet in the playoffs.

  • jcampb72

John, we would have to meet in superbowl

  • Nicole

    My, my, my!
How quickly alot of people have decided that they don’t hate Cutler after all. Like I said, it took us 6 qbs to find another one and you dealt one. I also told you that being angry with Jay was temporary and you wouldn’t like the end result. I also told you that he wasn’t going to Detroit so that he could be spited by alot of people. Draft picks are just that-picks and this draft is weak. i wasn’t saying all that stuff for nothing-now you see. NOW, all of a sudden, people are letting out their anger at the front office-the SAME one that you wanted to SEND him to Detroit. The Bears front office has the personnel to handle anything and they did what had to be done- Denver could’ve at any time turned the tide, but instead, beat on their chests and proclaimed this is it. Well, to all of you that have all of a sudden decided that we didn’t get a fair shake in the qb department-don’t flip the script now! I am glad that Jay is in Chicago and their team is committed to him- THAT’S WHAT HE WANTED FROM YOU! Like I said, be careful what you wish for because you just might get it. You are now YEARS awayfrom doing anything and YOU CAN’T BLAME ANYONE ANYMORE. More people will step forward and sign with the Bears- this is one of the happiest days of my life: Jay is going to a team that wants him. ALL YOUR MANAGEMENT HAD TO DO WAS GET IT DONE-DRAFT PICKS MEAN NOTHING WHEN YOU’RE LOSING AND PAYING TONS OF QB’S FOR ONE JOB. Stop passing blame-put it where it belongs!

  • flbronc

how come everyone keeps harping on this ‘do you think that orton is the answer?’ question/demand… nobody i have seen has made that claim here and i have not heard the organizatoin make that claim either. we made a trade and got a player and some picks in return. dispite what some people keep saying here, he’s a decent qb and has some aspects of his game that are actually better than cutler (ex. td/int ratio). is he going to be the face of the franchise, i doubt it but can he do well in mcd’s system? probably. face it cutler and shanny are gone (i wish they were both still here) and mcdaniels and simms/orton are in.

  • Anthony33

    Hey Bus, uh Nicole
Let’s see what happens when his contract comes up.

  • Anthony

All I have to say is that jake Plummer wasn’t even half the quarterback that Jay Cutler is/was for the Broncos. But the difference between Plummer and Cutler unbelievably is that Plummer WON GAMES. And as a true Bronco fan that’s the only optimism I can get from getting Orton is that he won games and was a great leader and now we have the draft picks to build a defense.

  • Anthony

F*ck Sanchez for now. This year we go with Orton and see what he can do and strictly use the draft on building our defnse and running game. Then next year we will have the opportunity to draft Sam Bradford or Colt McCoy. Everyone relax, I haven’t been able to sleep for the past little while either, but everything will be alright.

For 10years i have watched, and learned and loved Denver as my die hard husband got me into it. I felt a personal loss with Shannahan. I was willing to give this Jeff Mcdaniels a chance but the season hasn’t even started and im not at all interested in watching this team anymore. This new “coach ” came in with a ego that wasn’t earned yet and handled this whole thng like a jr high team. Cuttler is a professional and deserved to be treated with respect. All McDaniels did in my eyes was show me hes a j…..ss and has no head coach potential!

  • http://BroncoTalk.net Mr.East

    Anthony,

At the his retirement, Jake Plummer was the 3rd most winning quarterback behind Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Cutler is 17-20.

  • http://broncotalk.net Joe

    East

Cutler is 13-1 when the defense gives up 21 points or less.

  • Jon Krause

    hey guys get this:
Bus Cook was found in dead on a back road in Chicago, and Josh McDaniels wife and kids were killed, and McDan is missing and the Broncos got a note that read:

‘Trade for Jay Cutler and Josh will live’

  • Jon Krause

you may wonder how this can be? ’cause McDan was just seen on TV, well that was not a fake, no no, you could see it all over his face, the kidnappers let him go ’cause they did not want it to get out about them(who knows why) so anyways they told him to act normal and where to meet them when if it was over, and if he did not then — he’s a dead man…

till the broncos trade for Cutler Josh will be held captive, and will never EVER live a normal life

  • flbronc

went back to look at the 13-1 stat to see who the victories were against… and for the life of me i can only find 12 that we held them to 21 or less and won…. here they are

    2008
    oakland
tampa 16-13 not a huge scoring day
atlanta 24-20 good win agianst a playoff team
    ny jets
    kansas city

    2007
buffalo 15-14 all the kicker there
    oakland 23-20 again the kicker
    kc
    tenn. young out threw cutler…
    kc
    minnesota

    2006
    arizona

like i said that’s 12… who did i miss? by the way only atlanta 2008 and tenn 2007 made the playoffs. five came against kc and oakland.

  • roshon2411

    flbronc,
Good point, Young out threw Cutler when they played. You might want to read that again, VINCE YOUNG OUT THREW JAY CUTLER. Did you watch the game? Vince Young, guy who was replaced by Kerry Collins because he’s horrible, threw for 300 yds and rushed for 70 yds. That shows you how bad the Broncos defense was during Cutler’s tenure. However, you are also the person who complains that Cutler makes too many bonehead plays. Well in that game Cutler was 16 for 21, 200 yds, and two tds. Pretty solid stat line to me. You think going threw 8-8 seasons with Shanny was bad. Denver is two first round bust from being the doormat of the NFL for the next decade.

  • flbronc

roshon- dont know how long you have been around here, but i dont believe i have ever bashed cutler for making too many mistakes. nor did i want cutler to be traded. i was up in arms after we fired shanny. the only aspect of this team that i have bashed was the defense last year, a point which you brought up that i very much agree with you on.

i am simply making the case that the world did not end when we lost jay cutler. the previous post was simply to show that the stats (especially the 13-1 stat) are somewhat decieving.

would i rather have jay on our team, yes. unlike others around here, i believe that we can win without him. people throw around stats (yards, wins, etc…) trying to make cutler to sound godlike and that there is no way we win more than five games next year. how close were we to a five win season last year?

  • roshon2411

Yeah Denver was a couple of games away from being 5-11 but you could say that about every team, every year. They could have been 11-5 too. I think that stat is more of a statement of how Cutler was able to pull out the close games. The 13-1 stat is deceiving but it was a stat in response to everyone saying Cutler’s record as a starter was 17-20. Denver can win without Cutler but not with this team as of today. I don’t think 2 first round draft picks are going to change that either. Big Ben, Eli, Peyton, Brady,Brad Johnson, Dilfer, and Warner, this is the list of SB winning QB’s since Elway retired. All great except for Johnson and Dilfer and both those teams had incredible defenses. I have my doubts that McDaniels can build a defense of that caliber.
