CBS4 in Denver has reported that Jay Cutler is no longer in Denver after meeting face-to-face with his agent and Broncos officials.

Cutler will not be attending Monday’s voluntary team workout. Sources tell CBS4 he has told the Broncos to trade him.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that Cutler stated:

“At the end of the meeting, [Josh McDaniels] wasn’t like, ‘Jay, I want you as our quarterback, you’re our guy.’ It felt like the opposite. He basically said that I needed to tell him if we can’t work this out, to let him know,” Cutler added. “I thought he was antagonizing me and that was disappointing because I was ready to move on, committed as a Bronco. Really, I figured we’d hash things out, shake hands, laugh a little and move forward. What happened [Saturday] was the last thing I expected. If I didn’t think it could be fixed, I never would have come back to Denver. It was painfully obvious to me and Bus [Cook, his agent] it’s not something they want to fix.”

McDaniels offers this translation:

“Again, I think that’s been a pattern. I couldn’t get [Cutler] to talk to me for two weeks or to talk to Mr. Bowlen. Then when he came here this weekend, we couldn’t get a one-on-one meeting, just me and him alone. He wanted Bus in there, so I had Brian sit in, too. And it was the four of us. There wasn’t any yelling, none of that. I can’t believe we get to a totally different [interpretation].

“It’s an unfortunate set of circumstances that has cropped up, a potential distraction and we’ve done our best to limit that. The main message I want to get out is that we’re excited to start our offseason program [Monday]. It’s an exciting time for us.”

It only gets deeper and deeper,

“I certainly went back there, expecting I’d be there [Monday] but not now,” Cutler said. “It’s not mandatory. I’ll attend every mandatory mini-camp and training camp but that’s it. Really, it’s best for me to move on. As coach said, he needs every eye in the meeting room to be on him and not me.”

Cutler said: “You know, even after the meeting, I hung around town, kind of expecting him to call me and say, ‘Hey, let’s just me and you get away and have lunch or a cup of coffee’ and mend things, but that didn’t happen. So, I get it, really, it’s a business. I’m disappointed beause [sic] I love being a Bronco but I think it’s run its course.”

This comes after a weekend when it was exposed that both Culter’s home and his parents were placed on the market for sale. As the situation develops we will be sure to keep you up-to-date.

“Nothing more than a coincidence. I had already shown my house privately to some interested buyers a couple of months ago,” Cutler said. “I’ve really been looking to buy 40 to 70 acres of land there.”

Cutler goes on to state that McDaniel’s told him that he had basically come to Denver to coach Cutler. Then Matt Cassel happened. Cutler stopped calling and wouldn’t return calls to Broncos owner Pat Bowlen.

“Josh and I have exchanged text messages. We had a conference call. And if Pat wanted to speak to me, why didn’t he come to the meeting on Saturday?”

Cutler’s agent Bus Cook magically appeared in the interview, when most agents may have chose to abstain. He states that as an agent he was “totally in shock” that it has gotten so ugly.

“I would have bet my house going into Saturday’s meeting that everyone would be shaking hands and smiling,” Cook said. “I thought it was going to get worked out. But it was very clear to me that Jay Cutler is not their choice to be quarterback of that team.”

However, Yoko Ono did admit that when he called Broncos General Manager Brian Xanders to request a trade on Saturday night, Xanders said it wasn’t going to happen and that “Jay should show up Monday.”

Denver has two options, they can trade him or sit on him. If Cutler misses off-season workouts, it’s only a little monetary loss to him. He says that he will make every mandatory camp. If he were to take this thing all the way to training camp he would begin being fined and the Broncos could just eventually wind up sitting on his contract to ride it out. Bus Cook has also got Tony Scheffler involved now and he’s not intending to attend the meeting on Monday.

I wish the next Denver Post story would be titled.

Josh and Jay Share a Bottle… problems solved… hangover remains.

  • NathanH

Great point to the guy that mentioned Chad Johnson.

The only problem with that is that everyone on the team looks up to the QB, and he needs to be the first and last out of ANY practice, even voluntary. When its 2 minutes to go and the balls in the QB’s hands, you need the whole team to believe in him, and I think he may have damaged that already with his cry baby money wanting antics.

ESPN JUST REPORTED MCDANIELS WON’T TRADE CUTLER FOR DRAFT PICKS.

    Quinn + Rodgers?

Is there any better way to say sorry than give you QB 30 million guaranteed Jay Cutler will regret buying into Cook’s BS just like Favre did and just like McNair did.

  • broncoNM

(dee)- Good article… That pretty much sums it up.

  • Bronco Fan in AL

This thing is all about territory. Josh McDaniels is trying to make the Broncos his team by staking out his territory. When people do that, they at least try to be diplomatic. When dogs try to do this, they pee all over what they claim as theirs. I think McDaniels is a dog which explains the mess this situation’s become.

  • Stav

Interesting article but nothing new, we were all saying that Scumbag Cook was pulling his old BS. Does Cutler deserve a re-negotiation, no. If he were to stay in Denver and got to the Pro-Bowl again next year, I’d say yes. But the point is, his a-hole agent is looking to make him the hit the top 5 in QB salaries without any merit. We all know that money talks and that is the all time cure for any relationship problems. Management should call their bluff and keep him. What’s he going to do? He’s under contract, not report, go to the union. He’ll look like the ass. I love Cutler, but now its time to play hardball. We all know that there is no equal value in a trade, or from draft picks, and its obvious that management realizes that too. The Broncos own him for three more years, they have the power here. Here’s to hoping that this backfires in Cook’s face, and they have to go crawling back with their hats held out. This is so transparent its a joke, McNair, Favre, and now Cutler, good job Bus, way to put the individual in front of the team.

  • broncoNM

The article makes a good point. The broncos dont have to trade Cutler and still control the situation. They can openly listen to offers and if they find one that they cant refuse than they trade Cutler. If they dont get any amazing offers than Cutler stays. If he sits out and doesnt learn the system his stock will drop which wont help his cause. Cutler’s “Trade Demand” allows the broncos to openly shop and negotiate for him. McD and Broncos will listen to offers all day now and will probably get a hell of a deal.

Even as a formerly proud owner of a #6 jersey I can finally say phew! It occurs to me that a natural born leader would never throw his whole team under the Bus, Cook up stories of hurt feelings, and Lie down like a dog. Even under the worst case scenarios real leaders put the team first. Jay completely alienated his new and old teammates. Like Brian Dawkins who even has a history with his own diabetic kids, did Cutler even consider taking the high road out of respect for his teammates and their families? Not even those with whom he shares a common bond. Leaders are champions, chumps go on to cell phones.

  • ItshouldbetheLombard-BelichickTrophy

Well, it’s clear-Coach McDaniels simply doesn’t value Cutler’s value…as high as Cutler does.

McDaniels knows QB’s guys, he was Tom Brady’s QB Coach for petes sake.

Remember, Cutler is the buffoon who boasted to the Sporting News that his throwing arm is “hands down” stronger than John Elway’s, as well as “Brett Favre’s got a cannon, but on game days, there’s nobody in the league who’s going to throw it harder than I am at all.”

More of a cannon than Elway?? ROFLMAO!!

Good riddance to the moron. He’d be a perfect fit in Oakland…

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

I hope McD speaks with Cutler one on one soon and this story ends, Cutler is in too deep now to come back with the Broncos … I am excited about this new chapter in Denver Bronco history..

Now guys I know this whole situation is annoying and we are all sick of it so I propose you click the link below for some well needed “distractions”

Dee, do you really want to attack my intelligence? You’re in over your head. You obviously don’t understand how investing in real estate works. You don’t use your money, you use other peoples money to make money. He would never pay “cash” up front for it, just a down payment, and use the banks money to finance the rest. This is really a stupid thing to be arguing about, but never attack my intelligence when there us no way in any universe that you can win that battle. Get a clue.

Cutler will more than likely take the field in sept wearing the orange and blue. When Bus told Xanders Cutler asked for a trade, Xanders responded, “that’s not going to happen.” I’m no expert, just a fan, but I don’t think they will trade him. I loved Mike Golic’s idea that Bowlen should call them both into his office, then leave and tell to work it out. We’ll see what happens in April.

Obviously didnt check out my link before posting, ok you’ve convinced me of you superior intelligence and all knowing wisdom congratulations.

  • Doug

Hey Bronco fans. Hope the Bronco brass keeps messing up with Jay. We’ll take him at the NY Jets! P.S. Hey Jay, you will need a thicker skin than you if now, if you want to play in some other place (like NY). You don’t know how good you have it!

  • http://broncotalk.net (dee)

    jchase8410

I’m going to stop responding to you, because you like Cutler seem to be a little too sensitive, you called me a 7 year old and it rolled off my back but when I said something about you …. you gave me real estate 101 as a response. I dont come here to fight with people, you started it , and now with this entry I have finished it.

  • http://myspace.com/paraleipsis jchase8410

Alright Dee, I’m just frustrated with he whole situation, my bad. Felt good to argue a little. Lingerie bowl kicks ass, great distraction.

I am on board with Pat White ’09 if Cut gets traded. I think hat his passing skills have ALWAYS been under-rated, which he proved at the seniorbowl, and the combine. Terriffic athelete. I’m glad we can all stress less about the Cutler/McD fiasco.

    Mr. East
I totally agree with you that Cutler is not the Broncos Savior. I just think he is a really good QB with potential to be one of the greats. I actually thought, “are you serious Jay?!” when he said if Pat wanted to talk to me, why wasn’t he at the meeting….Who does he think he is? As if the owner of the team has to answer to him…unbelievable. That statement alone may have made me jump ship. I am not on McD’s side because I don’t think he is capable of running a classy organization. He has lied to Jay, lied to the fans, and lie to himself when he got caught. I just can’t bring myself to support someone like that. Consider me indifferent!

  • amoore

the new coach is an idiot coming from an organization that had all there cylinders clicking jay was the only good thing about the broncos and if he was on the patriots he would of lit it up even more. they should tell jay they are sorry

  • ryan

I always wondered what it would be like to be a Dallas Cowboy fan, now I know. I will now go rape a beehive.

  • JRODZ

    Ryan = OUCH!

Here’s an open letter to McD: Exactly how many NFL games have you won as a Head Coach? Put your dork back in your pants. The pissing contest is over. Tell him he’s your guy, you’ll make it work, sit back, relax and watch Cutler make you a fricking star!

  • Ant

First off I agree w/ Mr.East. Cutler is the best thing since Elway. That being said I feel that Cutler is being a Big Bay. His arrogance is too much. He’s a very talent QB, but hasn’t been test in not one playoff game. Daniels is an a$$hole just like his mentor Mr. B in New England. There is no loyalty with Daniels and all players are going to take notice, because it used to be a place where players would take less to play for, but those days are over. It’s a sad day in Denver if Cutler is traded, because they just started to rebuild the team around Cutler, you get rid of him and your at Square one. AGAIN.
Damn it Mike S. why could you build a better D, then we wouldn’t even be in this situation with a new coach and all.

  • Jeffhead

This coach blows!!! Who made the decision to get this guy. He is 32 and coached with the Patriots, actually let me re-fraze, he was one of Belichick’s whipping boys . I hate the patriots and definitely do not want to be one. They are proven to not be trustworthy. Oh and Jay Cutler may be acting childish, but he is a good quarterback (a pro bowl quarterback) that brings a swagger to the team that we have not had in years. True this is a business but where is the common seance. I put this one as much on Pat Bowlen as McDaniel’s. No Bowlen you are not in charge and you show no loyalty to your players.

  • soxbigdog

The bright spot, in this mire of what has been the last season or so was the potential of what Jay Cutler could do with the franchise… now that is, or soon will be, gone…

I have followed the Broncos since 1986, and this for me is the lowest point I can possibly remember for the franchise.

The future looks lik ethis to me… They trade Cutler (and the longer they wait, the less they get for him)… they get a 1st round pick (HOPEFULLY!), and some other misc garbage for him…they sign a Jeff Garcia type to get them through the next few years until another QB can be groomed… that just an awful forecast !

They HAVE to find someone with at least a twinkle of ability to be brought in.. if I am in control and HAVE to trade Cutler… I work a three team deal and bring a Matt Leinert to Denver…

Leinart might not be the answer.. but at least he gives the appearce that the team may attempt to win within the next 4 or 5 years

  • JK

    Come on!
    keep Jay! fire Josh!

  • big clubb

Ive backed Cutler from day one,but lets grow up kid, thousands of familys are struggling to survive on state assistance.Maybe you should check your ego at the door (even if McDaniels is a dick) and play the GAME you get payed millions to play and show your fans you are the bigger man . Otherwise you become another athelete that people dont respect and wont cheer for.

  • http://maininator earl

I think Detroits 2 and 3 sound good. Cutler will love a good organization with a couple of first round wide receivers they have drafted, He could become the face of Detroit.
Good bye you are what is wrong with pro sports, enjoy detroit.

  • http://www.pennington.net/ mikepenn

As far as I’m concerned this is a chest-beating competition by two guys who have something to prove…

A class employee wouldn’t think of airing dirty laundry and sure as heck would be reasonable when Bowlen / McCheese calls.

A coach who understands people better than McCheese can soft-talk Cutler out of his mid-20s immaturity… and I think most of us reading this board have been 20-something asshats too. That doesn’t mean he gives up team discipline, but it does mean he doesn’t pull heavy-handed crap like telling key players they are expendable. Good coaches know when it’s not worth an ugly battle. A previous poster made a rather astute observation about the butter-jobs McCheese gave all his free agents this year… He has it in him as long as his pride isn’t on the table. Sorry to mention Shanny now, but that is one thing he knew how to do very well… manage egos… and you think a few NFL players might have them? Note to McCheese… learn something from Shanny.

I sure hope these guys are men enough to admit they both are trying to be the alpha dog and the only thing that matters is winning games. Cutler’s a little turd right now, but McCheese dishing out tough love with less than a month on the job is destroying the team spirit… that sure isn’t going to help this season with or without Cutler.

  • muaythai

I agree that Josh needs to go. Jay is a great QB and if the Broncos are going any place this year, Jay needs to be at the helm. I could care less about the head coach. It appears he is on an ego trip. If Jay goes, so do a lot of Bronco Fans.

  • ItshouldbetheLombardi-BelichickTrophy

    @jeffhead

    >>>McDaniels was one of Belichick’s whipping boys<<<

LOL! I hope your slander is right coz I am a Pats fan.

Unfortunately, your point is irrelevant. Cutler is,what. even 1/4 as good as Brady? Less?

“As good”…I mean, and let’s face it, Cutler couldn’t even be Tom’s waterboy, YOU DON”T RUBBISH THE COACH!

You guys have no clue, but here’s an insite into perpetual dominance: would Gisele Bundchen’s better half EVER EVEN DARE calling Mr Kraft…robert…or bob??? Argue with the owner via ESPN sound bites?!?!

To Cutler, moron that he is – as are all those who support him – that point would simply pass over his/your head(s).

Do you even begin to understand?

As a Patriots fan, I really doubt it – WONDEFUL NEWS!

You know, if your previous coach hadn’t hired that rabid, cheap shot extraordinaire Romanowski, you amoeba who have supported both over the years might have some credibility.

Josh will give you that. Will you even be able to see that? Or are you, as I suspect, all romanowskis, eh?

  • http://www.broncotalk.net Hunter

Trade the baby! Cutler, B. Marshall and Scheffler to Lions for C. Johnson (stud), first pick in draft and the 20th pick. We now have two ways to go with the draft to get a future system QB for Josh. Draft Stafford number 1, get a DE at 12 and another def player at 20. The other option is the nose guard from Boston College at number one, draft Sanchez at 12 and another defender at 20. Let’s get rid of the baggage and start fresh!

  • Xanders needs to go

What are you thinking hiring this guy? Completley clueless, was a stat boy in Atlanta, and a career scout player at FSU. He is totally overmatched, and now it looks like McDaniels is running the show not the so called GM. Its time to bring in a real GM to help stop the disaster. Of course now the Broncos salary cap is totally messed up with the retreads this guy has brought in. I guess he is hoping for no cap next year. Congratulations to Denver on becoming the new Washington Redskins. Nice job alienating your best young player, Cutler knows when to get out of this mess created by an overmatched GM.

  • Ant

Never trust anyone from the New England Patriot Org. All they do is lie and cheat. They are also not loyal to the players, and they’ll cut you at the end of training camp leaving you with few options.
