This just in! Andre Smith is not the smartest guy out there. Smith’s range used to be 1-6 and now it would be stupid for a team to take him in the top 10. For the post-combine version check out this link.

Round 1

  1. Detroit Lions
    Eugene Monroe, T, Virginia
  2. The Lions made a mad dash for Jay Cutler. I don’t think they’re to thrilled to get Matt Stafford as a quarterback. Expect to see some quarterback be picked up in free agency and for them to protect him with Eugene Monroe or possibly Jason Smith.

    Previous: Matt Stafford, QB, Georgia.

  3. St. Louis Rams
    Jason Smith, T, Baylor
  4. Once again… Marc Bulger has been sacked 126 times over the past three seasons. Michael Crabtree needs to impress real well at his pro-day. Jason Smith is starting to emerge as the premier tackle of this draft class. Just check out his interview at NFL.com, he’s just overall a great person.

    Previous: Jason Smith, T, Baylor.

  5. Kansas City Chiefs
    Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest
  6. In the wake of a new 3-4 defense having a player that can play any of the four linebacking spots phenomenally is a good start.

Previous: Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest.

  7. Seattle Seahawks
    Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia
  8. T.J. Houshmandzadeh is now a Seahawk so big money on Crabtree is unlikely. Matt Hasselbeck started only 7 games he was sacked 2.7 times a game, however Eugene Monroe and Jason Smith are off the board. Hasselbeck is 33, and his performance has been declining, but strangely enough his sponsorships have been increasing (EXPEDIA DOT COM!!). Matt Stafford is currently the best quarterback in the draft and giving him the time to sit behind a signal caller like Hasselbeck would be a great idea. Hasselbeck is one of the smartest quarterbacks in the league so Stafford could really benefit.

    Previous: Eugene Monroe, T, Virginia.

  9. Cleveland Browns
    Brian Orakpo, DE/OLB, Texas
  10. Cleveland is that almost team, they almost have a good QB in Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn, they almost have an elite receiver in Braylon Edwards, and they almost have a good defensive line in Shaun Rogers Cleveland only had 17 sacks total on the year, DeMarcus Ware had 22 himself. Shaun Rogers really wants to leave and if he does B.J. Raji could land here.

Previous: Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest.

  11. Cincinnati Bengals
    Micahel Oher, T, Ole Miss
  12. I don’t think Michael Oher is top 10 talent but Cincinnati really really really really needs a tackle. Andre Smith worth ethic and character issues are a serious problem so I’m expecting him to fall hard. Don’t expect Michael Crabtree seeing how Cincinnati drafted 3 recievers last year.

Pre-Combine: Michael Oher, T, Ole Miss.

  13. Oakland Raiders
    Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech
  14. Post-Combine: Michael Crabtree is a flashy playmaker, Al Davis loves flashy playmakers. JaMarcus needs all the help he can get. Oakland would probably be better suited taking nearly any other top player at any other position at this spot, but the crypt keeper won’t be able to contain himself.

Previous: Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech.

  15. Jacksonville Jaguars
    Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois
  16. Vontae Davis has emerged as the top corner of this draft class. Davis didn’t run the 40 he wanted but expect him to be faster come his pro day. Despite the fact that Andre Smith is still on the board, Jacksonville won’t risk a high first round pick on such a flawed prospect. I know that it’s ironic that Vontae Davis is “non flawed” prospect, but his talent is high and his character is improving… so far.

    Previous: Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois.

  17. Green Bay Packers
    B.J. Raji, NT, Boston College
  18. If Raji is still on the board here then Green Bay has found their new NT. Ryan Pickett is scheduled to move to the middle but a player like Raji is rare. B.J. absolutely blew up the combine and proved that he can physically get it done. Malcolm Jenkins has a really poor combine and didn’t really prove that he’s worth the 9th overall pick. I pray though that Green Bay doesn’t select Raji because I’m aching for him to be a Bronco.

Previous: B.J. Raji, NT, Boston College.

  19. San Francisco 49ers
    Everette Brown, DE/OLB, Florida State
  20. Last version I said that Shaun Hill isn’t that confident starter San Fran needs right now. I am going to retract that statement, Hill actually has a winning record as a starter at 7-3 and a career rating of 90.5. Mike Singletary probably doesn’t want to deal with a rookie QB headache and will focus on the defensive side of the ball, where his forte lies. Everette Brown is a dynamic player and will be the force at the outside linebacker spot that San Francisco desperately needs.

    Previous: Mark Sanchez, QB, USC.

  21. Buffalo Bills
    Brian Cushing, OLB, USC
  22. The Bills really need some help at the linebacking spot. Brian Cushing may be a reach at 11 but the Bills are not afraid to reach. In 2006 the Bills selected Donte Whitner at the 6th overall spot when they could have had Jay Cutler.

Previous: Everette Brown, DE/OLB, Florida State

  23. Denver Broncos
    Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU
  24. I knew I would get a lot of flack for having Michael Johnson here previously, but it was an experiment. Johnson is an absolute physical beast, I said he’d run faster on his pro-day and he ran faster than I would have imagined at a 4.59. So for all of you who believe he won’t go in the first round need to digest that. However, I’m not too keen on this guy, I think he’s a workout warrior, he has the old adage, “Looks like Tarazan plays like Jane”, potentially written all over him. He’s Jarvis Moss 2.0.

For all you Broncos fans worried about the defense I would rest at ease this round. Offense will most likely not be selected. The only positions that might require need are running back and wide receiver. At twelve I do not see McDaniels grabbing Maclin, Moreno, or Wells. The running game McDaniels employs involves using an array of decent backs. I am very excited for Peyton Hillis’ role this year, he will prove just how important he really is.

I’ll wipe my tears away if Raji is gone and turn over to Tyson Jackson. Jackson has continued to rise on the draft boards this offseason. Denver really could use some depth on the defensive line. Having DEs like Marcus Thomas, Kenny Peterson and Jackson in the rotation would be a great foundation for improving the defense. If Raji is selected before Green Bay’s turn Jackson possibly could land there though. According to the New England draft theory Jackson is a typical pick. New England has spent first rounders on nearly all of their defensive line starters.

Denver is holding private workouts for Raji and Jenkins, something is brewing up at Mile High, and things are going to come draft day. I don’t expect this pick to be traded down as much as I used to, but it’s still a strong possibility.

For fun I considered putting Mark Sanchez here to watch Bronco fans’ heads explode, but that would be too mean. Denver fans have been through too much QB drama already.

Previous: Michael Johnson, DE/OLB, Georgia Tech.

  25. Washington Redskins
    Andre Smith, T, Alabama
  26. The Redskins really need to rejuvenate their offesnive line. Chris Samuels and Jon Jansen are insanely old. Andre Smith is a punk and most likely a bust due to the fact that he’s lazy. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have the best measurable qualities at the combine (that he left without telling anyone) or pro day as long as you can play. The point with Smith is that he isn’t taking this seriously, he should be in much better shape. I’d rather have a player here that deserves it.

Due to cap space I’m not sure if the Redskins will pick in this round. Signing Albert Haynesworth and DeAngelo Hall to monster contracts won’t allow a lot of first round money to be spent, besides Dan Synder doesn’t believe the draft.

    Previous: Andre Smith, T, Alabama.

  27. New Orleans Saints
    Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State
  28. Drew Brees was pretty outspoken about his desire to have LaDanian Tomlinson in his backfield again. Even though a bit of that is sentiment that has to say something about the need for a new running back. Reggie Bush has yet to live up to his reputation and probably never will. Bush cannot run through the tackles and is destined to screen passes and punt returns. In his three seasons in the NFL Bush has more yards receiving than rushing. Chris Wells (prospectively) is everything Reggie Bush is not. The Saints offense can only benefit from taking the pressure off Drew Brees.

Previous: Ohio State, CB/FS, Ohio State

  29. Houston Texans
    Malcolm Jenkins, CB/S, Ohio State
  30. The Texans could really use some help out there in the secondary. Malcolm Jenkins is a physical beast who needs to find his position on the field. Regardless of what position he ends up playing he will make an impact for the Texans.

    Previous: Brian Cushing, OLB, USC.

  31. San Diego Chargers
    Larry English, DE/OLB, NIU
  32. San Diego hope they could have landed Tyson Jackson, but he might be long gone at this point. Shawne Merriman is coming back from a bad injury and Jyles Tucker proved that he’s not that backup they’re exactly looking for. Larry English is an impact player in the 3-4 and will find his way into the linebacker rotation wherever he lands.

    Previous: Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU

  33. New York Jets
    Mark Sanchez, QB, Wake Forest
  34. It’s pretty obvious that quarterback is a need in New York. If Mark Sanchez is still on the board here the Jets will have to pounce on him. With the release of Laveranues Coles don’t be surprised if New York selects Jeremy Maclin here.

Previous: Alphonso Smith, CB, Wake Forest

  35. Chicago Bears
    Aaron Maybin, DE/OLB, Penn State
  36. With Larry English off the board the Bears will have to look elsewhere for a pass rushing outside linebacker. Luckily for Chicago Aaron Maybin is on the board. Maybin is consistently improving his draft stock, some mocks even have him landing in Denver at the 12 spot.

    Previous: Larry English, DE/OLB, NIU

  37. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
    Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut
  38. Darius Butler is considered to be one of the best cover corners of the draft, he notched a 43 inch vertical at the combine. Butler is a great fit for the Tampa’s Cover-2 scheme and they definitely need corners at this point.

    Previous: Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut

  39. Detroit Lions
    Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss
  40. If the Lions do indeed take a tackle with their first round pick then they’ll focus on the other fundamental side of football, the defensive line. Peria Jerry is an explosive player and has made plays all year. Jerry would crack starting lines at several teams, but it’s a no brainer he’d make at Detroit.

    Previous: William Beatty, T, Connecticut

  41. Philadelphia Eagles
    Eben Britton, G, Arizona
  42. Like I said before, Donovan McNabb will cry if an offensive line position isn’t taken here. Taking a player like Eben Britton will allow the Eagles to King Dunlap to move the tackle position, and if he fails Britton take over.

    Previous: Eben Britton, G, Arizona

  43. Minnesota Vikings
    Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri
  44. The Vikings have no real depth at receiver and unless they address that in free agency this pick could be a wideout. Maclin is the top prospect on the board and Minnesota could benefit from his explosiveness.

Previous: Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss

  45. New England Patriots
    Rey Maualuga, ILB, USC
  46. The Patriots would really like an outside linebacker here but all the top ones are off the board. You can never have enough solid linebackers in the 3-4, especially since Junior Seau is a billion years old. Jerod Mayo will need some help next to him. If the Patriots land Julius Peppers this linebacking core would be unbelievable. Their secondary has been patched with Leigh Bodden and Shawn Springs playing next to Brandon Meriweather and Ellis Hobbs. The defensive line has always been solid with Richard Seymour, Ty Warren, Vincent Wilfork, and Jarvis Green. With the return of Tom Brady the Patriots would be ready for yet another Super Bowl run. This is scary.

Previous: Aaron Maybin, DE/OLB, Penn State

  47. Atlanta Falcons
    Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State
  48. Matt Ryan needs a tight end to fully reach his potential as a quarterback. Brandon Pettigrew is the top tight end in the draft, he can block like no other, and he’ll be a great option when Roddy White is double teamed.

Previous: Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State

  49. Miami Dolphins
    Alphonso Smith, CB, Wake Forest
  50. Opposite of Will Allen the Dolphins have no one at corner. Alphonso Smith is one of the top available corners on the board and it would either be him or D.J. Moore.

    Previous: Clay Matthews, OLB, USC

  51. Baltimore Ravens
    Percy Harvin, WR, Florida
  52. Baltimore signed Matt Birk so the center position will not be address in the first round. This will open up room for a receiver which is something Joe Flacco will appreciate. Harvin had an extremely impressive pro day shining in his drills.

    Previous: Alex Mac, C, California

  53. Indianapolis Colts
    Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia
  54. Sorry Colts fans, Maclin is off the board. Joseph Addai is a solid back but the offense could really use an upgrade. Moreno has great hands and slot experience at Georgia as well. Manning is getting up in age and he could use a solid running game like back in the days of Edgerrin James.

    Previous: Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri

  55. Philadelphia Eagles
    Sean Smith, CB/S, Utah
  56. Brian Dawkins is gone as well as Lito Sheppard. Obviously secondary is needed and Sean Smith is a beast. Smith measured in tall at 6’4, and big at 214 pounds and his 40 was pretty good at 4.53.

    Previous: Rey Maualuga, ILB, USC

  57. New York Giants
    D.J. Moore, CB, Vanderbilt
  58. New York’s secondary isn’t all that strong, but it’s hard to tell when you have players like Justin Tuck knocking down the passer all day long. The defensive line was highly invested in with adding Chris Canty and Rock Bernard. Osi Umenyiora will back next year so that part of the defense should be fine. The secondary could use an upgrade and D.J. Moore is a playmaker New York could use.

    Previous: Sean Smith, CB/S, Utah

  59. Tennessee Titans
    Robert Ayers, DE, Tennessee
  60. Robert Ayers!? But he’s a second rounder! Not if you’re Mike Mayock, who believes Ayers a top 15 prospect. I’ve said before, either the Titans are great at drafting or extremely lucky, with the departure of Haynesworth Ayers could be one of those guys. With Jason Jones and Ayers on the line the Titans could possibly pick up right where they left off. The league thought Tennessee was crazy for taking Chris Johnson so high last year but we all know how that turned out.

    Previous: D.J. Moore, CB, Vanderbilt

  61. Arizona Cardinals
    Michael Johnson, DE/OLB, Georgia Tech
  62. Michael Johnson ran a 4.59 at his pro day. Many people think Michael Johnson is a bust, including me, but his upside is too much to pass up. The Cardinals could really use a pass rusher with Bertland Berry in free agency. Walter Football explains that Johnson is the type of player that Arizona usually takes.

Previous: Chris Wells, RB, Ohio State

  63. Pittsburgh Steelers
    William Beatty, T, Connecticut
  64. Seriously, protect Big Ben. It’s scary to think that Pittsburgh has the potential to go back and win it again. If the offensive line is upgraded this could seriously become a reality.

Previous: Evander ‘Ziggy’ Hood, DT, Missouri

As the offseason progresses I’ll be revising and drafting (no pun intended) up a new mock. A round two is very tempting but we’ll have to wait and see about that one. What do you think Bronco nation? Air it out!

  • kerry

thats the best mock draft you have done. Tyson Jackson is also my pick if Raji isnt available.

  • Nicole

Unreal! It was great! I’m still reading that the Bronco camp is optimistic about Jay. Mandatory camp is coming- Mcdaniels corner Jay alone finally and go for it! This is the chance that the entire sports world is waiting for -show that you can handle the drama and get it going. YOU CAN DO THIS BRONCO NATION I HAVE FAITH IN YOU! HOLD ON A LITTLE LONGER, I FEEL THE CAMP WILL SEAL THE DEAL AND WE’LL LAUGH ABOUT ALL THIS LATER.

  • http://mrherculesrockefeller.blogspot.com hercules rockefeller

I’ve heard people say that Andre Smith doesn’t get drafted until day 2 and maybe not even then.

  • Stav

Herc – People are stupid. As long as there are teams like the Bengals who put talent over questionable character, guys like Smith will always find a home on the 1st day.

Here’s to hoping management gets tough and makes Jay put up or shut up. Time to come together people, forget the players, we’re suppose to root for the jersey which I myself forgot for a while as I got wrapped up in this garbage. Whose ever behind center in September, that’s who I’m rooting for, the Orange & Blue. I’d love for it to be Cutler, but as I said in another post, if he wants more money & the big time contract, get us into the playoffs, make the ProBowl, and give us something like 27tds/15ints. That’s worth renegotiating with 2yrs left on his original contract.

Both Cutler/Cook and McD are lying to us – They wanted out after Shanny was canned, and McD wanted Cassel. Doesn’t the bullshit cancel each other out?

  • http://broncotalk.net Kyle

Yeah I’ve heard the same. Scouts called it the worst personal workout they’ve ever seen. Smith will get a flier from somebody but it won’t be until day two.

  • Jordan C

I really like this mock with only one exception. I think that the Saints are really high on Pierre Thomas and so they won’t go running back.

Otherwise, I like your outside-the-box thinking in sending Stafford to Seattle and Moreno to Indianapolis. Both could make a lot of sense. Great job!

  • mike

Well, if the Broncos have to trade Cutler, how about this trade. Cutler and Scheffler to Cleveland for their #5 pick, Shaun Rogers, and Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson. Then, the Broncos can sit tight til the #12 and see if somebody is there that they want, or they can trade down to later in the first round and end up with 12 or 13 total picks. Not bad and we provide McD with another QB development job and Quinn/Anderson turns out to be much, much better than Cassel.

  • mike

With the #5 pick, the Broncos could draft Curry to play inside next to Andra Davis, then with the #12 or whatever # it turns out to be the Broncos could draft Tyson Jackson. So the Cutler trade essentially lands a new starting QB, a very good NT, the best defensive player in the draft (Curry) and the best five-technique in the draft (Jackson). Let me make it clear that I don’t want to see Cutler go, but it seems at this point a Cutler trade is inevitable and this trade would help alot in the long run.

  • Rob4Broncos

Barring a huge surprise, it’s almost guaranteed that Curry will be picked by Kansas City (or Detroit even). So he won’t be there at #5.

That aside, I like the rest of your post, but I highly doubt that Cleveland would agree to that trade. They’d be getting shafted. Either we’d have to include the #12 pick, or Rogers isn’t in the deal. One of those two would have to happen (in my opinion) for that trade to be reasonable to both teams.

  • Rob4Broncos

    East:

Maualuga at #23? Why so low? It seems like his stock has been falling quite a bit over the past few weeks. Any reason?

  • http://BroncoTalk.net Mr.East

    Rob4Broncos,

His injury and work ethic has been thrown into question. It doesn’t help that both his linebacker teammates are performing at such high levels in their workouts either. I wanted to put Clay Matthews in the first round but with Detroit not taking Stafford it shuffles things down a little bit and I couldn’t really find a place for him. The Patriots need an ILB not an OLB, well they will if they don’t land Peppers which they probably will.

Maualuga is great player but he’s a low first round talent in any draft year. You have to think to yourself, is he Patrick Willis? Of course the answer is no, so you don’t spend that kind of money on him.

  • http://myspace.com/paraleipsis jchase8410

Since I didn’t see Cutler or McD’s name anywhere in this mock, I’m going to bury this DEAD HORSE so people will stop beating it.

I agree with Kerry again…this is one of the best mocks I’ve read. Great work.

  • mike

yeah i was being a little optimistic, but I keep reading various articles that say the Broncos could get multiple first-round picks and possibly a second or third rounder as well, so im not sure if the Browns would be getting shafted, but it would be a lopsided trade in the Broncos favor.

  • BH

What would it take to move up to #5-8? Would our #1 and #2 suffice? Could we go with #1 and #3? Or, #1 this year and #2 next year? Any draft value point experts out there? I think that IF Raji is the REAL DEAL, AND the MAKE OR BREAK position that we have to fill is NT then I would say we go for it. Of course, we would have to find a trading partner.

  • Jordan C

    BH –

Here’ s an unofficial trade value chart on a great website. It’s a good guide for pick trades.

    http://walterfootball.com/draftchart.php

  • NathanH

Yea, the hard thing would be finding a trading partner. I don’t really want to move up as it’d likely cost us a 3rd and 4th, but Jacksonville would make a lot of sense if they don’t Raji for themselves and Crabtree’s off the board.

  • BH

Thanks Jordan C! #5=1700, #12 (1200) + #48 (420)=1620. Would that be close enough? It seems to me that Cincy would be a good trading partner because they have holes everywhere. This helps them fill more holes and probably helps them from a cap stand point. My fear now that I am thinking about this would be that Raji doesn’t make it to #5. If Detroit takes Curry then I think KC nabs Raji. Of course, I didn’t think that we had a shot at Clady last year… If a trade up is possible, I think that it makes a lot of sense for us to do it. Yeah, we would like to get an elite Trevor Pryce/Richard Seymour like DT or an elite OLB/ILB, but if you have that NT I think that we can get by with what we have at DT and LB. Thomas, Peterson, Powell, Clemons aren’t bad options. The Steelers RDTs and LDTs aren’t exactly household names (I mean Nic Eason is one of their DTs for goodness sake, of course I like Aaron Smith from Northern Colorado), but their NT is a star. And if you watch what they do, the people that make that system work are the NT and the LBs. Having a star at RDT or LDT like Seymour is gravy. We don’t need gravy this year, we need the meat and potatoes. I think we also have a pretty good mix at LB. DJ Williams (if you think he should play on the outside, which is my preferance) is a lot like James Harrison and Elvis is similar to Lamarr Woodley. Somehow I think that DJ will play inside because we have several talented OLB options. We could probably get by with Larsen and Davis in the middle. I also think that Jarvis the Bust will be able to contribute as a role player in the 3-4 because he won’t be in a position to easily be powered out of the play. Heck, in most passing situations the only player the Steelers have down in a three or four point stance is the NT. Thanks again for the link.

  • Jordan C

I definitely wouldn’t rule out KC taking Raji at #3. The idea makes me nervous coupled with the idea of Denver getting the #5 from Cleveland.

  • Rob4Broncos

With KC switching to the 3-4, Raji is certainly a possibility. But then where does that leave Glenn Dorsey? They’ve invested a lot in him.

Also, is Raji REALLY the guy that Denver wants. All I’ve heard about him lately is that he was pushed around by O-linemen at the Senior Bowl and he has weight/character issues. Can anyone comment on if these are true and/or something to be a concern? I’d hate for the guy to come in and be a complete bust. Is he a quality NT to build the defense around, or not?

  • the decider13

For those saying Andre Smith falls to day 2, y’all gotta lay off the drugs. To say that a team would greab guys like Britton and Beatty before they would take a chance on some bad workouts is crazy talk. It’s not like they never saw any game film.

I really like the Tyson Jackson pick, it’s awesome. Nice job.

  • http://broncotalk.net RVG10

I don’t think we need to trade up for Raji. I like the Tyson Jackson pick at #12. I also think we have a good shot at Ron Brace in round 2. If not, it is more likely we can trade up in round 2 to grab him. Brace would fill our NT spot just as well as Raji and for a much cheaper price tag!

  • dbroncos

I am in a mock offseason at another site and Tyson Jackson was my pick as well. He would be a very good pick.

  • Garrett

Hey i know this is off topic but i thought of something interesting. I think it would be a good idea to sign Byron Leftwich off of free agency. Then if we do trade Cutler, it could be to the Cleveland Browns for their 1st round pick. Then we can maybe pick up Brian Orakpo from Texas. Anyone else thinks this is a good idea??????

  • broncoNM

Reportedly 10 teams have interest in Cutler. That’s alot of teams that could start a bidding war. I understand that this is wishful thinking so just take it for what its worth but what if we are able to get more than expected for Cutler.
    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/141623-cutler-could-be-out-of-denver-by-the-weekend#comments

Before browns fans start freaking out let me say i think this is VERY unlikely and is probably trash but if this were to happen we would have to hand Cutler a map of Cleveland and send him on his way.

  • jcampb72

If you look at jacksons production from last year it doesn’t equate to a first round. But he does fit a prototype 3-4 DE which I think we have to many of already but I truely believe we will be trading this pick come april 24th.

  • http://birty.blogspot.com mikebirty

This draft will be interesting, mainly because this is the first post Shanny draft. Everything we were used to with Shanny is out of the window. He was always open to trading and moving and scheming. From what I recall of the past Patriots drafts, they’ve sat where they were and taken good solid first round picks.

more importantly – denver has 9 picks. I’ll go with 3 D-Line, 2 LBs, 2 DBs, a WR and shock horror a QB in round 6.

  • Tom9798

    broncoNM . . . great site . . . thanks for the reseach . . . I can only hope it’s not true . . . . I’ll copy my blog from another . . . .

did some scanning . . . not coming up with reciprocol communication from the Broncos . . . .

The Bronco organization is being inundated with calls from all over the NFL . . . and are acutely aware of Jay Cutler’s value . . .

The gut feeling I have is that the Bronco’s are not happy with any of the trade deals that they have heard as such . . . .

Maybe this could change with a little honey . . . but I’m starting to think that there are no starting QB-Draft package deals that have appealed to them . . .

I feel that this will be clarified by Tuesday . . . The owner’s meeting in CA starts Sunday . . . and I think McD will speak on Tuesday . . .

One of two things will happen . . . . McD will say they are entertaining trade talk for Jay . . .

or The Bronco’s are not trading Jay . . . period . . . he is under contract for the next three years and is not going anywhere . . .

    I hope it is the latter . . .

    Win the AFC West . . . AFC Championship . . . win the Superbowl . . .
Jay will have a lifetime contract with more money than he or Bus Cook knows what to do with . . . .

  • broncoNM

Tom… Im hoping for the latter as well. My number one senerio is cutler stays. Your right… if the broncos are not getting any mind blowing offers they will have to end this circus and make a statement that Cutler is staying.

  • kerry

i think al this Cutler conjecture has to stop. the guy isnt going anywhere otherwise the deal would have already been pulled off. if Cutler doesnt get traded on draft day then he will be the QB for this team. he isnt gonna be traded before draft day, and unless someone calls draft day and offers a QB along with a shit load of high picks then Cutler isnt going anywhere

  • RHINO

I was able to attend several USC games this past season and I would love for the broncos to draft any one of those linebackers. Despite what their workout stats were good or bad they bring the heat everytime they touch the field. Even before the draft talk started I thought Rey reminded me of Big Al. We need that again.

I agree with RHINO, I go to the university of oregon and have seen rey play the passed three years and he is much better than his workout says. I don’t know if I would take him at #12, but if the Broncos were to trade down, he would be a very good pickup in the mid to late first round. He would be very good alongside Andra Davis, as long as McD is able to find an adequate NT somewhere, who can eat blockers and free up space for Rey. Brian Cushing is really good too, he has more of a mean streak than Rey, reminds be alot of Bill Romanowski, minus all of the spitting and antics.

Patrick Chung is a pretty good safety too, he would be a good pickup in the second or third round to play behind and learn from Brian Dawkins. That would be a really good pickup and Chung would be killer on special teams, he is a beast of a tackler. And I have watched Chung at every UO home game for the last four years, he is a natural leader and Dawkins would be the perfect mentor for him.

Chung is a strong saftey and would likely earn the starting spot and play alongside Dawkins next year which would be good for him.

My order of the USC LB’s in terms of how much good they’ll be in the NFL-
    1) Cushing, he has a mean streak and is versatile as hell. Think AJ Hawk, but in a deeper LB class. He’ll be a very solid addition to whichevver defense is able to land him.
    2) Mathews, Clay has great work ethic and his blitzing ability and the fact that he NEVER gives up on a play, and also plays best in the biggest games, I think Mathews will have a career much like his father and uncles.
3)Maualuga, he’s very good against the run and can give offenses headaches with his ability to burst into the backfield, but I really think he’s gonna be a liability in coverage at the next level, and thats the last thing I want in a division with Gates/Gonzo/McFadden/LT/Sproles as guys he’d have to pick up in coverage from time to time.

Just my 2 cents. I’d love either of the first 2 though. Clay we’d have to trade down some spots for though.

Why are Porsche and Audi constant winners ? Is football that much different ? My first thoughts are eliminate the BS -> agents that care nothing about the game only how much they can get in commission.

The Broncos should trade Cutler for Alex Smith and the 49ers 1st round picks this and in next year’s draft. Smith ran the spread offense perfectly at the University of Utah, which is what McDaniels is going to employ. As insurance the Broncos can draft a QB in any round this year or next.

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT DEION!!!!!

Cutler needs to get in there and man up or get the f out.

    Everyone,

This is a mock draft article, not a Cutler-McDaniels one. Frankly I’m sick of this whole debacle. It’s not one person’s fault so let it rest.

Anywho, the wonderlic scores came out and Matt Stafford had an awesome 38. Louis Delmas scored a 12 and Rey Maualuga scored a 15. That’s sad for Maualuga because the rest of the linebacking team mates scored well with Matthews at 27 and Cushing at 23.

I’ll agree East, it’s not one person’s fault. Quite the opposite of your previous stance.

Stafford would make a good Lion but I like them drafting on the O-line.
… Actually I totally agree with most of your picks. I don’t see the new regime (here) in Seattle drafting a QB but Stafford would be a great guy to have learning from Hassleback for a year, maybe two. I also don’t see the Saints drafting a running back with Thomas playing so well. I would expect them to go with their top rated defender at any position. Jenkins?

Didn’t I say something like that earlier Mr. East? Haha are you seepis with a 12? That is terrible! LMAO! Rey Rey with 15? These are college students…funny

Id be perfectly fine if we got Jackson but Im really hoping that either Raji falls to the 12th pick or we can trade up and pick him up…finnally somebody who can clog up the middle and he would be great for keeping olinemen off of our ‘backers
