Every week, we’ll keep you updated on the latest playoff movement from within the division and around the AFC.

TEN PIT
NYJ DEN

First Round Bye
1. Tennessee Titans (11-1, 7-1)
2. Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3, 8-1)

Other division winners
3. New York Jets (8-4, 6-4)
4. Denver Broncos (7-5, 4-5)

Wild Card
5. Indianapolis Colts (8-4, 7-2)
6. Baltimore Ravens (8-4, 7-3)

On the cusp:
Miami Dolphins (7-5, 5-3)
New England Patriots (7-5, 5-5)

Notes:
Again, no changes in the seeding. It’s surreal.

Fine line to the third seed– With the win over the Jets, the Broncos hold the tiebreaker over New York. Cheering against New York, however, has its disadvantages – if the Jets fall too far, they’ll lose the division to either the Dolphins or Patriots, who are currently tied with the Broncos at 7-5. Either team would get the third seed instead. The Broncos need the Jets to lose one more game than them without losing the division.

Second seed out of sight — The two seed is even further out of sight. The Pittsburgh Steelers would have to LOSE three of their last four contests, while the Broncos would have to finish 4-0. The Broncos won’t be enjoying a first round bye.

Division not locked up yet — Stranger things have happened this NFL season. If the Chargers finally pull it together, and the Broncos struggle… ahh, who am I kidding. IT’S IN THE BAG!

While I am thrilled about the prospect of winning the division, I won’t really enjoy it until we have it locked up. It will be nice to get back to the playoffs for sure. It also will be fun to see the Chargers NOT in the playoffs, and, to see all the experts proved wrong this year!

I would really love to avoid having to play the Colts. I know they’re not the same team they’ve been in the past (and Peyton actually appears to be mortal this year) but I still have serious concerns about the way we match up against their style.
I suppose I shouldn’t be too picky. Playoffs are playoffs.

hey kyle dont forget to show some love to peyton for rookie of the week and fedex ground, jays up for fedex air and shanny for coach of the week.

  • dbroncos

The Colts and Ravens need to hold their spots because i dont want to play NE or MIA in the Playoffs. Im not sure how we would match up against the Ravens but the Colts matchup i dont like because of the past experiences.

Man, am I ever a pessimist.

All of the morons who have given me a verbal beating in the 30 years that I’ve been a Broncos’ fan have turned me into a pessimist. I didn’t predict the Broncos would lose to the Raiduhs a week and a half ago, but all of the talk of a gimme game for the Broncos just tied my stomach into a knot before the game even started. Then they played like a bunch of Pop Warner kids, so the Jets game victory was especially sweet.

In other words, whatever the Broncos decide to do for the rest of the season, I’ll be loyal to them. I might curse them time and time again for their mistakes, but somehow, they keep me coming back for more.

Who would have thought that every Broncos QB for the last 30 years would have the same first name of dammit? As in, “DAMMIT CRAIG”, “DAMMIT JOHN”, “DAMMIT JAKE” and “DAMMIT JAY”.

    Broncos 4EVER, baby!!!!

    DakotaFan–
I feel your pain completely. I have never once had the privilege of attending a game at Mile High. I have only been to one Broncos game, here against the Raiders, and have not repeated that experience because it puts me in mortal danger. There are early pictures of me sitting next to my dad on the couch, tears ruining my blue & orange facepaint as we get the crap kicked out of us by the Niners. Following this team is not a choice, it’s a life. Thank God for those two Super Bowls. At least we’re not Cubs fans.

    First post guys, great blog!

Let’s just stay positive and remember how young of a team we are. Let’s get some playoff experience, grow, learn and see what happens. Agree that getting Colts would be unfortunate but I have no problem meeting up with Cassel or Flacco. Moving on in the playoffs I think any given Sunday we can beat anyone and I actually really like our match up against the Steelers. ’05 revenge.

Defense has looked decent the past few weeks and just need Cutler to be mostly mistake free (easier said then done) to make a good run of anyone in the Playoffs.

Cutler, Clady, Royal, Marshall, Hillis any kind of playoff experience would set us up for more than a few great Bronco Football years to come!

Let’s not all try to analyze this season too much, but just enjoy the ride that it is. Which is far more than what was promised to us at the beginning of it. Look at it as a success regardless of a playoff victory(s) and realize that we are back on track to having Bronco pride restored for the next 1/2 decade (at least) t0 come!
