Win and a Chargers Loss

Doing the division-winning math so you don’t have to…

The Denver Broncos can clinch the AFC West title with a win and San Diego Chargers loss in Week 14. They’ll know if they have a potential division clincher by Thursday night – the Chargers host the Oakland Raiders on Thursday. The Broncos play the Kansas City Chiefs at home on Sunday.

Other ways to win: The Broncos will clinch the division by winning two of their final four games. If the Chargers lose two of their final four games, the Broncos will also clinch. Finally, if all else fails, the Broncos will win the division if they beat the Chargers in Week 17.

    God I hope the Broncos will figure out how to play winning football IN DENVER! I hope that they don’t take the chefs lightly again this week…if they can get on a roll here to finish the season and have some momentum and confidence going into the playoffs, they have a chance at maybe winning a playoff game.

    The way I see it, the Broncos SHOULD win 3 of the next D games. Carolina is a tough tough team, and Denver will struggle with that game, but the rest are very winable.

    Champ and DJ are going to be back for the game against the chefs, which I am stoked about. Their backups have filled in quite nicely (minus the raider game) but with these two guys, the defense is much, much better.

    I still find it funny that the chargers have to win out JUST to be 8-8. And they still have to play us.

    To make it more clear – the Broncos can win ANY game of the next 4. As long as the Chargers lose ANY game of the next 4, we clinch the division.

    i know i’m normally the first person to stop everyone else getting carried away but i see darryl hackney starting at san diego. Champ, eddie and bmarsh will be in their pyjamas. I’m not saying san diego are the sort of team that would be bitter and take cheap shots…..

    as far as i see the Carolina game is our only lock, the ones I am worried about are the ones we are clearly supposed to dominate in, if we can be pissed that the Chiefs beat us then we will beat them, if not we may take this game like the Raider game get blown up again. I love my Broncos, and i think it boads well for us in the playoffs that we really get up for big games against big team, but it still really worries me when we blow the gimmies.

    I definitley agree with Mikebirty. Denver will clinch this division, and come week seventeen, when we play the Chargers, they might have a good chance of winning. This is only because come week seventeen, when we have already clinched the division, San Diego will be playing our three-string guys, and hey, we may still win. We will at least give them a run for their money….

    I’ve seriously considered this and I’ve been like negative Kerry and thought about the ‘reality’, and i still think that we have a really good shot at going deep into the playoffs. If we don’t play the colts or the jaguars then the only team that i think we would have trouble with is in the NFC. It’s still to early to jump on the band wagon but I’m getting the decorations ready. Seriously though. IF IF IF IF we can keep everybody healthy and win 3 of the next 4 (I think we will beat Carolina. Steve smith on Champ problem solved)… and finish 10-6. I don’t know i just have a feeling that we can go really deep.

    Also everybody has to root against Pittsburgh and Indianapolis to loose the rest of there games. And the Jets for that matter.

    Denver needs to take care of business and figure out a way to not let the easy ones slip away. I bet Shanny puts them in for one quarter in SD(if we have it locked up) and lets Hackney and the rest of the boys pound SD

    I was going to scrounge up some tickets for Week 17 (Lord knows there’ll be plenty available – how many extensions have the Chargers received this year?). But if it’s all locked up and we’re resting guys, it won’t be worth the five-hour drive and the sixty bucks.

    hey Kyle really we wont be resting anyone. All our back ups are playing now. it makes sense to let thoughs ‘starters’ get some playing time

    I seriously doubt Shanny will rest anyone from this team, unless their consistency changes dramatically how could he possibly afford to let the team let their guard down. Also, I cringe when I see people talking about the division being in the bag…reminds me of how everyone was confident that the broncos would kill the chiefs (remember the, “when will the broncos lose their first game?” post) and equally as sure that they’d kill the raiders again. Shanny addressed this in his presser yesterday.

    Yeah but Adam you also have to consider the injury factor. We want to be as healthy as possible for the post season so I don’t think that you’ll see the big names out there. And if you do it’s will only be for a quarter or a half.

    Think about this: if third seed is on the line at all – and it likely will be – the Broncos will play to win.

    Kyle: I was thinking of heading down to week 17. I have a buddy with Chargers season tickets and a standing invitation. Even if it’s a meaningless game it might be worth it to go there and wear my Jay Cutler jersey proudly.

    Let’s say the broncos lose to the bills and charger beat TB. Is there a way we can still make the playoffs even if we lose to SD in week 17?
