Brandon Marshall was about to pull out a glove in celebration of Barack Obama‘s election following his game-winning touchdown Thursday when teammate Brandon Stokley made a heads-up play and prevented the display from occurring. Had Marshall followed through, the Broncos would have likely been penalized 15 yards, and with Cleveland special Josh Cribbs back to return, it could have been a game-costing mistake. (Anyone who says this team lacks leadership only needs to look in Stoke’s direction).

Marshall discussed it with the NFL Network crew after the game. Video below:

Stoke showed some leadership right there. hey hope he can drill more maturity to whole WR group. If marshall wanted to send a message he could of play in the gloves and then aucton them and give the funds to charity. but good move on stokes behalf.

I hope Kerry doesn’t find some sick way of turnin this at Shanny

I can understand wanting to make his politcal statement, but what a horrible time to do it. At this point in his career, he should have known that his glove would cary a 15 yard celebration penalty with it. It was almost a very selfish act that could have hurt the team. Thank God for Stokley! Let’s hope Marshall is finished growing up now.

I think that sounds hilarious. Too bad we weren’t up by 20 and he could have done it. That would have been one of the all time great celebrations. Chad Johnson would have been impressed with that one.

my personal favourite bit about the celebration was the referee who dove into the congratulatory huddle just itching to throw his flag because he knew something was going on.

Shame he didn’t catch the first touchdown.

Negative Ron here. I agree. What a great play by Stoke. I give Marsh credit for listening too.

Just saw that ex-Steelers running back Davenport was cut…I think that would be a great find for the Denver Broncos. At least check the guy out.

What a freakin’ brick. He threw away the freakin’ glove. How is the league or team going to penalize him AFTER the freakin’ game??
I hope they miss the freakin’ playoffs.
